Metal Gear training gets two dimensional
Who needs three dimensions? That's fifty percent more than you really need! Metal Gear Solid requires you to play stealthily, and the game's training mode will do exactly that. You'll have to navigate a 2D world as Old Snake, sneaking under and behind guards. Use your camo at 100% to disappear a la the Tanooki suit from Mario 3. This clever presentation is a wonderful contrast to the incredible 3D graphics of Guns of the Patriots, no?

I would prefer if ps3fanboy would refrain from using Viacom/MS companies for trailers. The consistent pattern of dishonestly improving 360 graphics and degrading PS3 graphics is lame viral marketing, and the excuse "jeez, doing that 100 times was totally accidental, and it's a huge coincidence that we've never accidental made the 360 look worse."
In fact, ps3fanboy can make money by using youtube and adsense. It's free, so what's the big problem?
Wayne @ May 14th 2008 9:23PM
I agree. The fact that all the multi-platform titles on gametrailers have Xbox 360 boxart is reason enough to never use them again. Please use You Tube for your trailers. How good would a PS3 Fanboy You Tube channel be :)
Random1448 @ May 15th 2008 2:49AM
The reason most of the multiplatform games are 360 covers is because the 360 is the more popular platform, and because there terribley designed website distorts the ps3 covers because they are diffrect aspect ratio. It's not a mass consiracy between microsoft and viacom. The Grid comparison video was most likey the cause of one fanboy employee.
Jimbo @ May 15th 2008 10:56AM
Random, this isn't the only video to be screwed up, and Viacom and Microsoft are invested in one another to the tune of tens of millions of dollars, and potentially far more.
You act as though we shouldn't assume that Microsoft would never dare behave improperly, never try to stifle competitors. They've lost so many lawsuits that proved Microsoft loves to do this that I've lost count. Viacom = Microsoft, and this is viral marketing FUD.
Also, is the 360 the more popular platform? I am pretty sure it's selling fewer, and selling fewer games. And I'm just going to hazard a guess that games on the Playstation 2 and the 360 are given the 360 cover.
You know, this is how business is done with MS. MS makes the right friends and uses those relationships to make it very tough to compete with them. There is no reason to keep giving them the benefit of the doubt.

ps3fanboy and all the other "gameconsolefanboy" sites are all run by joystiq. it's not like they're going to refrain from using any resources available for separate facets of their own site just because another site is biased. who cares?
Jimbo @ May 15th 2008 2:49AM
It's more than bias I'm concerned with. It's that gametrailers is basically committing fraud because their parent company is involved in a huge joint venture with Microsoft. It's one thing to quote EA's executive that loves the XBOX because that was his life for a long time. It's another thing to pass along video from a site that has so many examples of blatant dishonesty.
Also, it's exceedingly lame that this site didn't even link the damn game, which is free and available from Konami's website. It's almost as though this is only a half hearted effort to promote the PS3 with plenty of subtle digs, almost as though the site is actually run by a company that is involved with Microsoft, a company that has lost so many cases in court for unethical business practices.
Do I actually expect to change the practice of this website? Not really. But it's worth 1 minute of my time to point out that this site isn't really a strong fan of the PS3. I didn't make the rules, but they are: make a website with comments and act like a jerk, and someone is going to call you out. I doubt there is a quid pro quo going on, but there is ample lameness here.

oh no gametrailers!
Eddie @ May 16th 2008 6:33PM
3D is actually not 50% more than 2D... it's 33.3% more.
You flunked.
linebeginstoblur @ May 18th 2008 12:09AM
No, 50% more is correct. 33.3% more would be 2.667D.
