New characters for purchase in Hot Shots Golf

Have an extra buck in your PSN account? Maybe you'll want to spend it on new Hot Shots Golf characters. They'll be available for a dollar each. Alex skill level will be intermediate; Gloria's is expert. Both characters will be available to purchase on the 15th.Due to the DLC, a patch will be applied to the game later this week as well. The patch is required for all players of the game, even if they opt not to buy any of these characters.

not bad 2 bucks maybee ill get this and the high velocity bowling ppl with my left over 5 bucks. reply if you still play gripshift/go puzzle here and there.

Is that me or this kind of download is just a pure waste of time / money ? I really think that they are taking the pi$$ to publish this kind of DLC... what about something usefull for the game ?

Are these characters actual downloads, or are they on disk? I had heard that the Japanse version had dlc that was actually on disk, so I'm curious. A buck isn't bad, either way tho.

what i dont understand is why this kinda stuff doesn't get put in the game in the first place, I mean I LOOOVE DLC, but charachters.... Good thing theyre only a dollar
Atleast theyre not gonna "EA" us and let us buy things we can unlock in the game by simply PLAYING IT!

Unless the characters are tweaked skills-wise to match my play style, I'm not interested and happy with the current ones. I also found that REALLY annoying in HSG Fore on the PS2. You had two pages of characters to choose from with subtle skills differences. What I'd like to see is a more "PSP version" approach (sort of like how you set up an online chat room character in the PS3 version.).
I'm waiting for DLC courses and "game modes". I'd gladly pay for more courses, "Mini golf", and the "Putting Challenge" from the PSP version.
Side question: Is there anything fun going on at the practice green/Driving Range? I noticed a few things like the trampoline before the hole (Mid course, on the right), the giant funnel and Plinko Board (to the left), and the various containers to hit into (Oil barrel, Styrofoam cup). Are they just passive elements to the course, or is there some kind of special mode involved that makes them more interactive?
