Mainichi Issho integrates in-game video capture with YouTube
Sometimes a feature is cooler than a game itself. That's exactly what's happening with a new update to Mainichi Issho, a free downloadable title for the Japanese PSN. The casual edutainment title has a new feature which Sony is proud to tout as the first of its kind. The game will allow you to record in-game footage and upload it directly to YouTube. We haven't heard of any other game ever including this functionality, but it does have us intrigued.
It would be great to see this feature incorporated into other titles. For example, wouldn't it be great if the SingStar community videos could go on YouTube? (Although this is unlikely due to copyright concerns.) Or, imagine being able to share some of your awesome sniping skills in Resistance 2 online? It would be awesome if our best Gran Turismo laps could be showcased to the world. There are a lot of possibilities with such a feature, and we can only hope that more titles will take advantage in the future.

what happened to crackle? is sony giving up on introducing a video-sharing site of their own?
Dehshizknight @ May 15th 2008 9:25PM
Crackle.com Home integration is confirmed so that site won't be going away.

is this Japan only?

YouTube integration is available in all regions, but it will be up to the developers if they want to do this or not. The dev teams just need to get their hands on the updated dev software.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before but...
English version of Mainichi Issho plz~!

YES!!! KILLER APP!!
This would be awesome fully implemented with the PS button; press the PS button during in-game to bring up the menu (Turn off console, quit game ect.), new menu option says "start recording", then click to start recording and continue playing, then to stop just tap the PS button again and its saved to the hard drive ready for access under a new folder under video!
It would make perfect use of that video editing software Eye-Create that can be downloaded off the store.
God i'm really excited...please do not restrict this to just that one game sony!

What a great idea! I hope Sony thought of that - maybe in EyeCreate 2, we will have an Upload to YouTube option?! That'd be sick!

"Gran Turismo laps could be showcased to the world"
they did say in grand turismo they will have the top lap race time recorded and for everyone to watch to get your skills higher...

Wow, this is a pretty cool feature.. I can't wait until Criterion adds this to Burnout Paradise.
Also, sort of OT. How do you retrieve lost user/password on this site? I can't seem to find out how.

Would be helpful to help curb glitchers/cheaters in competition heavy games like CoD4 and especially SOCOM Confrontation.

emaxximus @ May 15th 2008 10:10PM
Just what YouTube needs... an even bigger flood of bullcrap videos.
adolson @ May 16th 2008 11:51AM
You know, nobody forces you to watch what you don't want to watch..
tonyt3rry @ May 16th 2008 6:51AM
this is something i have always wanted, I just dont want to fork out for a capture card
Phoenix8387 @ May 16th 2008 7:27AM
I have to admit, I'm REALLY excited about this. The gaming community has always been wanting a way to record their own game play videos, Sony is finally giving us that chance.
I would wager that if they allow us to upload videos to YouTube then at some point they'll allow us to save them to our HDD. It's only a matter of time.
markosborne @ May 16th 2008 11:12AM
i think this would be a great idea to add to the a future PS3 update , so it could be compatable witha bigger selection of games
Kabapu @ May 17th 2008 12:06AM
