Fill your tanks with even more Resistance shots

Insomniac's Resistance 2 looks mighty swell, don't it? These three new shots showcase some stunning new environments, set in the American heartland. Somehow, the artists at Insomniac have create a serene setting that doesn't feel quite right; an aura of creepiness haunts over these almost-peaceful scene.

Maybe it's because of that impending Chimera attack. Aliens blowing things up in the forest -- we loved it in Half-Life 2: Episode Two and we'll like it again in Resistance 2. Check out the new screens in our gallery.

It does look pretty good. Too bad there won't be a 360 version for you, Andrew.. Guess you'll have to settle on the inferior version.

i don't know about you guys, but resistance was one of my favorite shooters ever and i am extremely excited about playing the sequel, and these screens look amazing.

Lol those charecter models look like shit.Looks like socom on ps2.The airplane looks like something in rainbow six terrible textures.A very dingey washed out game thats a fps thats played on the worst controller this generation how exciting.

gow2 kills this graphically and this cant hold a candle to it nor can kz2 which you wont be getting this year by the way lol.

seriosuly it looks like they used old unreal engine on this and took the rainbow six textures and tossed them into it.

Screw the vertical resolution, inject some color other than gray and brown in, I see traces of green and blue in those shots, they need more.

Actually, now that I'm more looking over these, the color is fine, just make the sun not cast a -brown tint- on everything. Please. Last I recall the sun tends to make colors more bright and vivid, not wash them out.

Dear Insomniac,

Stick to Ratchet and Clank. This franchise is so overrated because it was the only decent game out at PS3's launch. Honestly, these screens dont have ANYTHING on Killzone 2, Gears 2, or even COD4 for that matter and thats been out for a while. The MP footage was mediocre. Looks stiff, and the weapons are meh.

Yeah, who needs variety when you can just run one franchise's characters into the ground? Hey, it works for Nintendo... I want Ratchet Kart, Ratchet Superstall Baseball, Paper Ratchet, Super Ratchet Bros., Ratchet is Missing, Ratchet Paint, Ratchet Golf: Nuts and Bolts Tour.. The list goes on. So much missed opportunity here.

resistance just doesn't have the marketing power of any of the more established shooting franchises right now. i still can't see it having a unique hero or villian no matter how original the concept may be.

i haven't seen anything yet in the past year of Resistance 2 info equal to anything like the past week of Gears of War 2 info. just not excited for this game.

Considering how... "meh" the first gears was, I'm really not interested in 2.

Though I didn't really like the first Resistance either, but I'll probably get 2.

Hmm those 3 new screenshots were in the Sony GamersDay video, where they showed like 2 minutes of the 60player online play, I'm pretty sure everyone has seen them.

I know i'm on PS3fanboy, but I'm still rational. Gears of War was a great game. It provided something that Resistance 1 didn't and that's gore and brutality. It also looked great. While it lacked a cohesive story, it had better presentation of the story elements. However, Resistance was longer, had better variety of weaponry, had a larger MP experience, had more enemies onscreen, had better enemy AI, had more unlockables for even more replayability, had bigger maps, and more challenging boss battles (the spider from Gears was horribly implemented). It had all of this as a launch title. It has all that to build on, and they're addressing the presentation of the story. Gears 2 will still have gore over R2, it will look great still. But the first R1 didnt' look bad by any means, and even if the new one is a few pixels short of Gears that's no justification for it to be inferior. They're both exhibiting two different approaches to fun.

C'mon guys can we please get over the petty comparisons. The game looks perfectly fine. It isn't popping out of the screen with WOW, but looks good by todays standards.

Unfortunately, I've never even played Resistance because I don't have a PS3, but I have the decency to pay some respect to the game.
