MotorStorm Pacific Rift features photo mode, custom soundtracks
There's a bigger, badder and more badass sequel coming out this year. You guessed it: MotorStorm Pacific Rift. There's more to be excited about in the sequel other than interactive vegetation. If you didn't hear, Pacific Rift is going to have twice the tracks of the original, and four-player split-screen racing (something sorely missing from the original).
Pacific Rift is also going to add a number of commonly requested features, such as a Photo Mode, which allows you to take screenshots from within the game to store and share on your PS3. There's also Custom Soundtracks, which allows you to play music from your hard drive, so you can finally drive around thrashing to Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne (if you so choose).
Sixteen tracks. Twenty player online multiplayer. Custom soundtracks. Photo mode. Monster trucks. It really looks like Pacific Rift is really going above and beyond the original's offerings. Video, after the cut.

What happened to the tracks in the mud? That was one of the cooler parts of the first one.

I suppose this confirms that OS-based ingame music is not coming anytime soon.

It's unrelated. The great thing about games supporting custom soundtracks is that it won't interfere with the game announcements. If you're playing music in the background it will keep running when important annoucements and stuff like that are made. Imagine playing GTA4 and getting to a cut scene but you have music blaring in the background.

It seems like the are addressing the few weaknesses there were in the original. Pacific Rift will be a must have for me.

Yes, but will this finally allow different vehicles in each class to have different stats. Ie: will different motorcycles act differently?
Jtenma @ May 19th 2008 12:40AM
woah..guys, you seem to have missed one scary-ass point of this article.....
Custom soundtracks
Isn't that terrible news? In-game xmb is due out "this summer"..so why would this game need to support custom soundtracks?

But will it have replay? Well, will it??
