For those of you racing fans who've been looking around the world of
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue for your favorite tracks and walking away depressed, it seems a new dowloadable expansion may coming (it isn't said to be an expansion, but releasing another full demo/game seems silly). The expansion seems to be labeled as
SPEC II and will have the race track "Nurburgring" for download. It sounds as difficult as it looks. Lots of small, tight turns to master.
PS3Forums has a few off-screen shots as well as
several different links lending credibility to the claim. Keeps your eyes and ears open for more info -- we'll keep ours ready as well.

This is what Prologue is all about. With Polyphony Digital's "free" attitude to downloadable content, we'll be playing portions of GT5 before it even hits the shelves.
And people called it a glorified demo, heh.
FordGTGuy @ May 24th 2008 12:10PM
No people called it a $40 Demo that is 10% of the game. So when you go buy the full game for $60 with no discount your rebuying that 10% of the content and the rest full price. Its a ripoff and you might as well spend the money on Blu-Rays or other games then buying the same content twice.
Dahk @ May 24th 2008 1:26PM
Lol by the logic of the dood above me, I shouldn't have bought Resistance, because the monsters and graphics and gameplay and multiplayer are 10% of Resistance 2.
GAHH! NURBURGRING! I'm so pumped. For those who don't know, it's probably one of the world's most famous (and frickin' dangerous) tracks used for the best of car testing and whatnot. Every car company brings their newest cars here every year to test out, cuz the track is so car-intensive. But it's like 10-15 minutes a lap lol (depending on the car of course).
Dehshizknight @ May 24th 2008 1:55PM
Well, technically Resistance doesn't count because Insomniac doesn't use their old code in each new iterations; they start anew each time.
But I see your point: Prologue was well worth the money and I play it almost everyday.
HektikLyfe @ May 25th 2008 3:20AM
Free? Where does it say that? I have a feeling those early rumors about selling us a shell then having us purchase cars individually is exactly what they are doing.
Perhaps Prologue isn't a demo at all but the full core game. The rest of the game is extras that we buy for our individual experience requirements.
The Aggie CEO @ May 24th 2008 11:13AM
it better not cost anything.........
else I will simply wait for GT5........who ever heard of a Demo having DLC that Cost money??? lol
by the time you add a few paid expansions you will have paid for the full version but not have the REAL game............
Fiddlesworth @ May 24th 2008 11:14AM
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue has had the extra 'spec II' subtitle since European release. The earlier Asian versions of the game were patched to bring them up to the same European specification apart from the unique licensed music I believe.
jayj @ May 24th 2008 11:16AM
SPEC II isn't new, it was a patch that came out around the europe release i believe. The Nurburgring is a very famous track in Germany, anyway this is great news and i hope it's free.
Andrew @ May 24th 2008 1:02PM
Spec II has been available to europeans for the past month as a download.
After a 4 week break from GT5, i was prompted to download an update (Monday 19th of May)... after rebooting my PS3 i noticed the Spec II moniker.
I guess this is new to the US market.
theb1rdm4n @ May 24th 2008 2:50PM
nope, my copy has been spec II since i bought it. spec I was the japan release, and spec II is the us/eu release. the reason is because us/eu version has more cars, so unless you had the japan version, it should have been spec II when you bought it.
HAAS599 @ May 24th 2008 11:33AM
lol... "a lot of small tight corners"
That track map image is very zoomed out. the track is very huge and you can hit top speed on the straight away in almost any car.
Hashbrown Hunter @ May 24th 2008 11:39AM
Yeah, it's not PixelJunk Racers ok guys?
pksh @ May 24th 2008 11:38AM
There's a new video on GT TV called "'08 Introduction to Nurburgring 24h"!
If GT5P gets 24h Nurnburgring as DLC, I'm nursing a semi!
Stoo @ May 24th 2008 12:15PM
Yep, and if anyone is interested there is a stream of the race as well.

nick doerr, please stop writing about things you know nothing about.
There must be someone at Ps3fanboy that knows something about the automotive world and the GT series.
TCampbell76 @ May 25th 2008 1:07AM
I agree.. I was reading this and thinking, "I hope this guy doesn't have a degree in journalism" because with a little thing called RESEARCH (something journalism is based around) you'd find Spec II info and pics dating back as far as last December.
steve30x @ May 24th 2008 12:01PM
WTF GT% Prologue is already Spec II and its only speculation that the green hell will come to Prologue. Whoever posted this blog obviously doesnt know much about Prologue to say that the track will come with an update called Spec II because SPEC II has been out with over a month.
Marky264 @ May 24th 2008 12:10PM
this update will be of course free. Polyphony wont charge any more fees due to the fact we bought the game. Same applies to the damage update later this fall.
Can't wait for the track one my favs!
Brad @ May 24th 2008 12:56PM
How in the world do we know that it's not just one of the tracks that is being developed for the full GT5? What evidence do we have that it is ever coming to GT5P?
massive_98 @ May 24th 2008 12:39PM
I'll only get this if its free. You've been warned SCEA. You have no right to rip off your loyalist customers.
steve Colen II @ May 24th 2008 2:54PM
I will pay an additional $40 for this track! Matter of fact, i would just take a game with only this track and a bunch of cars. God, i hope this is true.
philmcneal @ May 24th 2008 1:01PM
wow time to bust out the steering wheel again, i'm aiming for a 7:30 time with the GTR stock when the track is released.
all the other courses are boring cept for suzuka
Popfrogs @ May 24th 2008 10:25PM
If you can do as well as Nissan did, you'll hit 7.38 on a perfect run, on street tires. Unofficial times have shaved maybe 10 seconds from that. The V-spec supposedly nailed a 7.25 lap.
houston3000 @ May 24th 2008 1:03PM
They should just constantly release DLC as they finish it then, when the game launches, release a $20 "retail pack" that'll turn any version of GT5: Prologue to the full version of the game - adding anything that may be left missing (obviously something that's worth twenty dollars) and patching any new features in.
Marky264 @ May 24th 2008 1:13PM
in response to Brad's comment.
Polyphony wont release any playable Gran Turismo 5 full game demo even if it's at an event this early it's only 2008. We know it's also GT5P caus in top hand left corner it says SPEC II.
Dave @ May 24th 2008 2:00PM
Come on PS3fanboy... surely you have one person that knows anything about the GT series...
Marky264 @ May 24th 2008 6:13PM
yeah people need to do some research and think logically about the game and how much it gives
dustandechoes91 @ May 24th 2008 4:11PM
ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL
XDragon @ May 24th 2008 5:53PM
Any dlc for this game will help people not feel bad about buying a "demo" of a game. I know its more then a demo but its not a full game. If they dare to charge for dlc for this, they'll never live that move down. If they chose to have some sort of discount program for people who own this and want to upgrade to the full game, then we'll see a lot more of this in the future.
Eggy @ May 26th 2008 8:16AM
It's not a full game hence you did not pay a full price.
nebulus @ May 26th 2008 8:28AM
So any other Top Gear fans here hoping they add a diesel S-Type Jaguar and a Ford transit to the list of cars, so we can test our mettle against Mr Clarkson...
gm76 @ May 26th 2008 3:30PM
Has any of the GT games offered historical tracks? Would be great if they would also release the 1967 version of the Ring. :)
