Here come the drums in this Guitar Hero World Tour trailer
We're not prejudice towards Guitar Rock Hero Band World Tour. We're holding out until we can try all the aspects of the game first hand -- particularly the content creation stuff. In the meantime, however, videos like this don't really help. Did you hear the drums are wireless? We thought we'd mention it in case the video didn't push that point enough for you. That's sarcasm, by the way.

whoa! so this Guitar Hero is all about the Drums!
Awesome thats just what i want from a guitar game!
oooh the irony!
sarcastic enough?!
Nick @ May 24th 2008 6:52PM
I don't understand why everyone is hating on this so much. The drum set looks superior to Rock Band's drum kit and is pressure sensitive. Maybe GHIV and Rock Band 2 will both be stellar.
David @ May 25th 2008 3:20AM
Guitar Hero 4 gets hate from me because of their lies. They say that they've been thinking about doing this two years ago. Yeah right...two years ago Neversoft was too busy thinking about what crappy feature they were going to add to their 20th Tony Hawk game. They weren't thinking about creating a realistic drumming experience. Heck...I bet they weren't even thinking about that when Rock Band was being shown in development. They started thinking about that when Rock Band started to take a piece of their market share.
I just hate it that they take credit for something they didn't create. Even Harmonix admits the benami series influenced them in some way. Activision even said that Rock Band was an imitator of Guitar Hero!!! How can that be when the creators of Rock Band were the creators of Guitar Hero. Also it is super easy to follow-up on someone's else idea and improve it. Let's wait and see what the guys at Harmonix will be doing with their drum kit.
SKI @ May 25th 2008 2:11PM
You do know that RedOctane & Harmonix were thinking of doing a multi-instrument title since before GH2? When they split, they both took the drum+guitar+bass+vocal idea with them.
Nick @ May 25th 2008 12:05PM
Alright, I see what you're saying. But if you put the company lies aside and just look at the games, there's no reason to hate on it.
Alex Hersh @ May 25th 2008 2:36PM
you have to shell out an extra 190 bones just to get a second or third of three things you already have and you cant use the rock band drums cuz it has one less button
kiros @ May 24th 2008 7:02PM
As long as this is less that $160 I'm getting it, I don't have Rock Band and to me GH:WT looks alright. I think Rock Band has a weak song list compared to past guitar hero games
The_Punisher @ May 24th 2008 7:10PM
Sucks for you then. Rumor: $189
Kammar @ May 25th 2008 6:09PM
Oh yeah, sucks for him that a RUMOUR says it's gonna cost more?
Use your brain, moron.
mike @ May 24th 2008 7:08PM
The problem i have is there is no way i will be able to have another drum kit at home, its bad enough having one
I juwt hope the rock band one is compatible :(
kevin @ May 24th 2008 7:24PM
ummm rockband has 4 pads gh one has 5...
mike @ May 24th 2008 7:28PM
Well on the video both cymbals are the same colour, ive seen no confirmation of them being different functions yet
mike @ May 24th 2008 7:31PM
My mistake just noticed the orange color on the right one :(
The_Punisher @ May 24th 2008 7:11PM
6 notes instead of 5, and Activsion not liking Harmonix, = no compatibility 4u :(
glacier985 @ May 25th 2008 1:56PM
Why wireless? If its as shitty as the Les Pauls connection then everyone is screwed who gets it on a PS3. I don't care if it has one more pad. I'm sticking with Rockband.
crazypenguin @ May 24th 2008 8:32PM
ps3 fanboy, you are getting SO SLOW. besides the fact i've seen this like 2 days ago or something, you do know that guitar hero has been dated/priced right? oh and its expensive btw.
Reymo @ May 24th 2008 8:42PM
I was skeptical at first but, seeing more details as the game goes on Im starting to like it. I always thought the RB drums were wrong. GH drums look more intuitive and realistic design wise. Ill be looking forward to it when it comes out.
Dr. Strangepork @ May 24th 2008 9:08PM
As someone who doesn't have Rock Band, this looks pretty kool.
Richard Comegys @ May 25th 2008 2:00PM
Even to a drummer who has Rock Band, this looks cool! I'm so excited that drums are becoming more and more mainstream. I'll admit I'm no frickin rock star yet on the drums, so I love an experience that helps me learn and at the same time makes me feel like a Chad Smith or Travis Barker. GH:WT seems it'll only make that bad-ass feeling that much more awesome.
Nymo @ May 24th 2008 10:26PM
well, obviously, Guitar Hero's got the superior drums...
and no, That's not sarcasm.
Nice to see some realism in several ways, like the new layout/"buttons", and namely the sensitivity.
On Rock Band, you can give it a tap, and you'll hear the same thing. Nice to see that GHWT will be able to sense if you're rocking out or just tapping.
And isn't this one supposed to be kinda quieter? Why didn't they point that out?
oh, and by the way, This is coming from one who is yet to get Rock Band for myself...
Seth A @ May 25th 2008 1:11AM
Great... So Rock Band 2 will probably have a "New Improved" drum set that "Unfortunately" is not compatible with the first Rock Band. I must say, this one fixes all the issues I had with the Rock Band set, no Hi-Hat pedal though. I think I will stick with Rock Band and hope they come out with a better kit for the next version. Being a College Student in a Dorm, the Rock Band kit takes up too much room as it is. Man, all these Games with Incompatible accessories is really hurting me. First the Incompatibilities with the SingStar Mics, which there is no reason for that, then the Guitar Hero/ Rock Band issues. Can we not just have a "Accessory Standard" Honestly. Then again, I guess you just pick a route, the ability to download songs leaves each game with the potential to have all the same songs, it becomes a matter of which one you like more.
leatherface @ May 25th 2008 1:54AM
hope the set list includes deicide's homage to satan.
HektikLyfe @ May 25th 2008 3:18AM
Obvious pitiful response to Rock Band's success. If they can only invest instead on DLC.
I could have done better with a second bass drum for some speed runs instead of two cymbals.
I DO like the pressure sensitivity though. Wireless? Don't really care much. Have to deal with batteries, possible lag when they aren't fully charged and possible interference.
I'm NOT buying a new Guitar Hero Drum Set every year which they will most likely try to get us to do.
Not enough to get me to trade up.
DarkDiscord @ May 25th 2008 4:36AM
Problem 1: I was a new rhythm game player and purchased Rock Band for the PS3. You blocked the patch when I would of gladly spent 90$ to buy your game so I could have an additional guitar. What did you gain from this? Nothing but lost customers and bad press.
Problem 2: I don't have room in my house for another drum set. If it's better or not has no relevance. You're late to the game.
Problem 3: You have turned your back on your current users by offering very little DLC for the current version of GH whereas Rock Band has had regular updates of songs. By releasing a another gimmick controller to you expect us to forget your shortcomings of DLC? If you can't provide DLC for one instrument, how can we count on you to provide it for 3?
C/N: Rock Band ftw.
whistlepig @ May 25th 2008 5:10AM
same thing i been saying . totally agree
kevin @ May 25th 2008 1:36PM
dont forget how their whole music bar layout sucks because they have like drawing on it instead of just clear to see the notes better like rb!
other than that ur right on the money
lego91994 @ May 25th 2008 2:07PM
Can't wait for this. I was going to get Rock Band but it won't come out in the UAE until late August I think, so I guess I'll just get these drums. They look alot better aswell, with the raised cymbals and pressure sensitivity. Wireless seems a bit pointless to me though for drums though, as you don't move and it will probably just be a hassle with all the battery changing you will probably have to do.
evilJaze @ May 25th 2008 10:16AM
I like Rock Band but I won't buy it as I can't get used to the weird drum configuration. The dude in the video said that it should be exactly like playing one of his songs with his eyes closed. THAT is what I'm waiting for, be it RB2 or GHWT.
Todd @ May 25th 2008 10:43AM
Uhm, when you play drums on Rock Band on Expert, it's very much like playing the actual drums.
ammar91994 @ May 25th 2008 1:37PM
@ Todd
While Rock Band on expert is pretty realistic, raised cymbals and 5 pads>4 pads all at same level
Can't wait to get this, I was going to get Rock Band eventually for the drums, but seeing as this drum kit looks better I decided to get this in the fall. The new guitar on www.guitarhero.com looks pretty cool aswell, but thee is only a dark picture of it. From what I can see it looks like they are going to have touch sensitive frets under the 5 main ones or something....
carl @ May 25th 2008 3:41PM
So I guess its safe to say that the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, and Blink 182 (or some other band that includes Travis Barker) would be on the game along with the other trailer that has Lenny Kravitz' song Are You Gonna Go My Way right?
ballernaz @ May 26th 2008 1:49PM
This drum set looks pretty good and so does the guitar. With features like creating your own songs, I think I'll hold off on the $150 rock band, (just hope GH gets their DLC right this time around, I mean have you seen some of the junk they put on!)
Jake MacLeod @ May 27th 2008 5:05AM
Dude I'm so tired of the GH hate just cuz they didnt' come out with drums first, big fuckin' whoop. Rockband is fun, I bought the game, but it's nowhere near what guitar hero has accomplished. Besides being the first company to start the whole music / gaming genre (and don't reply with ancient titles no one's heard of like "Actually the game __POS___ came first doncha know) GH has the most complex and challenging notes in it's games, not to mention interesting. If i'm not mistaken harmonix left the GH franchise and GH is still kicking ass. The drums are completly unrealistic in rockband and a major pain in the ass, my drummer buddy from my old band will confirm that, the bass pedal feels like ass and the symbols aren't "above" the kit like they should be. Again...rockband is fun, i'm not knocking it, I' mjust tired of the hate, rockband is a fun party game when your friends come over, so is GH, but GH takes the extra step and gives hardcore gamers something to shoot for with fire and flames type songs or raining blood. If you are goin to reply to this and tell me rockband is challenging please do me a favor and slap yourself in the face for being retarded. The only challenge in rockband is the drums on expert towards the end of the game (Mainly cuz the kit is retarded plus LCD / plasma timing fucks u up) So please....Rockband is a fun party game, I bought it...I love it...but back the fuck up with GH flaming, it's the roots of this genre, it's pumped out good hit after good hit so back the fuck up. And don't even get me started on the soundtracks.....
tan @ May 27th 2008 10:14AM
i totally agree.
John @ May 27th 2008 9:00PM
I'm excited about the velocity sensitivity (which is the term he used although it's probably really touch or pressure sensitivity, not velocity) for expression. Here we have basically a MIDI controller... without the MIDI. What they need to do is have some kits so that we can plug the damn thing in and play along with songs, game be damn'd. That would be an electronic drumkit for under $200 and it would sell like hotcakes.
Silverbullet767 @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:36PM
@ Todd.
RB's drums is not like real life, in real life you cross over your arms to play the high hat and snare, that's what was most disappointing about rock band. If there were a way to switch over the colours in the game this would sort it. PRO mode or something.
