God of War PSP street date broken at Wal-Mart

If you've been anticipating getting your hands on the new God of War-red PSP then perhaps you might want to check your local Wal-Mart to see if they have them out on the shelves. One lucky gamer did just that and snagged a shiny red PSP for himself. The new PSPs are supposed to be ready for sale on June 3; so, if you want one a week early, you know where to go.Considering that Wal-Mart is doing this, we just want to make sure you don't mistake the red PSP for this other ugly GoW PSP. Ew. Make sure you get the right one, okay?

I used to work in the electronics dept. of a wal-mart and let me tell you: They will let any idiot work there. I can't tell you how many times I caught dvds, cds, games, and books that were placed on the floor before their street date.
Sometimes it's not even store workers, it's company representitives or distributers who come by to make sure that their company's product is out on the shelf who are the idiots that put put product on the floor before it's street date.
I once had to wrestle a copy of "Hellboy" from a customer because a company rep had placed the dvds on the shelf two days before its street date.
Another time, when I got back from a weeklong vacation, I found out that 4 copies of Madden 2005 had been sold before street date because some ignorant employee had been placed in my department. We got a nasty e-mail from Bentonville when that happened.

I work at a wal-mart electronics department, and we received the new GOW psps 2 days ago. The shipping boxes are plastered with a big green "DO NOT SELL UNTIL JUNE 3rd" sticker. (i still opened up a shipping box to look at one, and quickly put it away).

Personally i would never do such a thing, but thats me, and I know my coworkers in my store aren't that stupid either. However there are idiots out there who do it, but usually it happens when customers complain to management, and if the manager is a person who is clueless about street dates. The manger may approve it and the sale is out of the associates hands.
In other words, please don't take the actions of one idiot, as what all associates do.

There are LOTS of Wal-Marts out there (and other stores) so while most of them "play by the rules", there are always going to be a few who, for some reason, don't.

That's my reaction, too--the bright red makes it look like a bootleg toy. Zero coolness factor for me.
But I'm an old guy. Perhaps kids (tweens and early teens) who are into bling and flashy stuff think this rocks. I'd love to see an honest breakdown of the ages these are bought for. I'll bet this one skews really young.

I'm 20 and I actually like this color, and since I gave away my old PSP to my youngest brother I'll be getting this one (pre-ordered already)
I know of other 4 people that have also preordered and that even older than me, I guess its just different tastes

Seeing that God of War is a mature title, I'm sure many kids won't be picking this one up. I'm older and I find this to be the most attractive PSP. Atleast it looks better than my Piano Black Slim model.

I personally work nighttime at Wal-Mart's Electronics department. As "Insanity Plea" said there is a clear label of when it comes out on the box. I really don't like this post where its just encouraging people to go to their Wal-Mart and create a ruckus trying to get the bundle early. You're just creating more work for me...and I have enough work with people trying to get digital converter boxes (For the love of god if it's not on shelves it's not in stock! Stop asking!), and wanting cheapo brand stereos, alarm clocks, and DVD players (same message applies from digital converter boxes).
And if it's any bit of good news, my Wal-Mart never stocked that other bundle. Don't know why, but I'm personally glad not having to put up with its visage inside the glass case.

I just got back from Walmart myself (Greenfield, WI - hwy 100 store). They had 4-5 sitting in the case, and I've been waiting on this bundle to finally snag a PSP and alleviate the boredom of my Saturdays at work.
I purchased one, and if anyone else is looking for the bundle, a quick stop at Walmart may be in order.
But, if you don't see it in the case, don't ask someone to go look for it for you. Those poor people have enough to deal with (low pay, crap benefits, the average IQ of a Walmart shopper, retail enviroment in general)... although they could go get a real job if they were unhappy... wild idea, I know.

If you all want the best chance of getting these items early also - you need to go it to the store at night when there stocking you can get them to sell you anything before the street date..

MAAN all these new color themes psps are soo awesome.. I'm tired of of the crappy piano black one.. not the red specifically but I'm thinking about just getting a new one mostly because of the color and well then I can say I have 2 ... Not that it matters its out of White or Ice Silver

wtf is with all the busting on walmart works? "although they could go get a real job" i work there, have for about 2 years i started out what i started near the pay i had at the factory i had quit (8 50 at walmart and 868 with 3rd dif included) and now make nearly 10, great medical got hurt and was out for a month still got paid becuse of the plan i had selected and to be honest its not a bad job its better then most jobs i have had, yes there are some idiots but not all walmart people are stupid, some just dont care anymore no better way to put it
