Sony unveils the 'Media and Events' Home venue
Home beta users were recently invited to try out a new Home venue. This "Media and Events" space is currently a recreation of the PlayStation Day event that took place in London a couple of weeks ago. In the future Sony plans on using the space to host "everything from new game unveilings to sports events to fashion shows." The PlayStation Day decoration of the Media and Events area included various elements from the real-world event, such as artwork and photographs from the show.
The new area includes jumbo screens on which the keynote speech was broadcast for the beta users to see. There was also a "a video stream of all the action from the real-world PlayStation Day experience." Check out our gallery below for a few screenshots and expect a video to appear online before too long. Sony has said that "following the test event's success Home will now start scheduling more elaborate and exciting productions for the Space." These will not only be available to first party developers, but to third party companies too.
This new part of Home looks like it'll be an excellent way to let gamers experience all of the trade shows that go on throughout the year. Not only that, but we're looking forward to seeing exclusive announcements being made from within Home. Once it's out, that is.

Thanks for the press release!
...aaaand back to waiting.
skech775 @ May 27th 2008 12:47PM
Home delayed till summer of 2009 according to dev.
Mike @ May 27th 2008 12:55PM
Source? I doubt this very much, Sony cannot afford any more delays, Home has been in development since 2002 (it was originally penned as a PS2 feature)
Mark @ May 28th 2008 6:40PM
Wait, you doubt home is delayed and then state that it was originally suppose to be ps2 feature? You seriously put those together in the same paragraph?
FrankTheCrank @ May 27th 2008 12:57PM
Yeah, WTF is up with Sony and this HOME?
I mean, they announced it forever ago and they don't seem like their yet ready for a launch.
Sony needs to drop some hot ass shit like NOW and stop talking about what's coming down the road. I'm sick of hearing about what they have planned.
I lovez my PS3, but c'mon Sony, let's get the ball rolling here.
koehler83 @ May 27th 2008 1:02PM

Postcard: Home Sure is Great
Text: Wish you were here!
Mattchewie @ May 27th 2008 1:15PM
At this point, my excitement for home has dropped considerably. They just need to make with xmb or whatever they need to do to allow me to read/respond to my friends messages.
I'm sure others feel the same way and thats kinda dangerous for such a ambitious project like home.
Devin @ May 27th 2008 1:17PM
Home just keeps looking better and better.....I hope once I get my PS3 it will still be on track for that Fall Open Beta....
skech775 @ May 27th 2008 1:44PM
Home will be delayed till summer of 2009 possibly longer according to SCEE and developers. Home has been in developement since atari came out and up till now thay are obscure of the official release date. personally im getting sick and tired of Home just like the rest, and yet Home has nevertheless succeeded to entice ppl in vain with their unprecedented bullcrap. BTW this post sytem sucks ass... holes.
Devin @ May 27th 2008 2:08PM
It's amazing how a free application is pissing so many people off....they may be bringing in-game XMB and trophy support by MGS4's release, so what is that Home is offering that is so enticing that it is just pissing you off so much that you can't use it currently? I am more than willing to wait until this Fall to sign up for the Open Beta if that means more features, less bugs, etc.
el serpiente @ May 27th 2008 4:02PM
I don't know, people have boring lives and like to complain.
flynn110 @ May 27th 2008 1:38PM
i am sure home will be out by the time we see the ps4!
HektikLyfe @ May 27th 2008 5:25PM
I wish I could be as confident as you. ;)
WolfBangaz888 @ May 27th 2008 9:18PM
That's most likely the reason el serpiente. I used to be the same way long ago.
held225 @ May 27th 2008 3:13PM
Home is the best!!! i cant wait for it, i wunder how big the Home download will be? anybody know?
ichigo @ May 27th 2008 3:28PM
as of right now after reading the comments and this.. fuck home sony can take home and put it right up there ass's i dont care any more was suposed to be here last year early this year then later this year now im hearing summer next year??? i dont even want home unless its gonna be out this year sooner then fucking WINTER!! gah
skech775 @ May 27th 2008 3:25PM
@Devin... ill vindicate you despite the fact that your retarted and dyslexic let alone able to write a proper sentence so ill reiterate, ppl arn't pissed b/c of the free applications, they're pissed b/c Home is doing everything but releasing it and yes we do appreciate Home dev tweaking and adding these precious features to avoid potential bugs and whatnot but damn, they just need stop announcing updated features and keep their mouth shut instead until it's official release hence the reason why ppl have cold feet and discouraged with lost hope.
Devin @ May 27th 2008 3:54PM
First off. I do know how to write, but I'm writing on a f***ing forum, so who the h*ll cares? (Oops. I forgot. You do.)
Secondly, everyone is different. You are someone who expects Home to be out, yet in my case, I am happy to give them another year to perfect it for the PS3 (which again has been out for how long now?). They will get the Open Beta out this Fall, what is the big deal? There are plenty of games for the system right now, so I don't understand what there is to complain about. I personally would rather see them shove as much stuff into it and get it the best the can before unveiling it to the public. I, like you, feel Sony should've kept tight-lipped in regards to Home until they Knew it was ready and had an official release (even it was Beta), so I understand where you are coming from.
sbob420 @ May 27th 2008 3:27PM
any bets on what comes out first Home or Duke nukem forever?? lol seriously though i would rather have it come and be perfected than come and have to patch every 2 days till it works right
The Aggie CEO @ May 27th 2008 4:29PM
oooooooooooh a feature that allows me to do the same thing I can do by watching G4!?!?!
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
as long as its LIVE I suppose it'll be cool..........
so long as it ACTUALLY comes out by the time Sony Day '09 roles around........
would also be nice if E3 and other things were in there live too.........
kevin @ May 27th 2008 6:34PM
I NEED FRIENDS WITH HOME ADD ME KEVISEG15 PLEASE!!!
blackbrolly @ May 28th 2008 12:06AM
Home can wait til it's ready. I'm more concerned with in-game XMB. And more games on psn. But all in due time. Remember XBL took years to get down as well.
