Beyond Good & Evil 2 announced
Saving the very best for last at Ubidays 2008, CEO Yves Guillemot had a final note to reveal. That would be Beyond Good and Evil 2. A platform hasn't been announced yet, but we're hoping it comes our way. It just looks absolutely gorgeous. Make sure you check out Joystiq's gallery below and watch out for the debut trailer that's up at Joystiq.

Hmmmmm, bacon...
I never played the first one, but I hear its a pretty good game. If I ever come across it I might pick it up and see what all the (critical)fuss was about.

I don't know. I hope it is a re-imagining and not a sequel. Talking pigs? Leave that to Duke Nukem and kiddy platformers.

I will counter your, "argument" with justification for my post.
The numbers don't lie. The original title's lackluster sales weren't representative of the quality of the game, I agree. BUT the world it was created in just didn't capture my interest.
The protagonist character design was fine, it was just the supporting characters. It almost seemed like the developers were influenced to make this game more childish so it would sell "better" and in effect fractured its intended fan base.
I enjoy games like these but was immediately put off by the mismatched design.
As a sidenote: I find it disappointing that a valid and sales number supported opinion is demoted next to the passive-aggressive death threat "joke" in response to it.

-Jad- @ May 28th 2008 3:57PM
Look like the game used the same game engine from Assassin's Creed.

YES FUDGING YES
dabamf @ May 28th 2008 4:03PM
I hope this title doesn't get Ace Combat'ed...
Brandon L. @ May 28th 2008 4:14PM
What happened to Ace Combat?
dabamf @ May 28th 2008 4:29PM
Ace Combat 1 - 5 (and Zero) were exclusive to Playstation systems with one exception on the Gameboy Advance. Then, Ace Combat 6 came out last year as a 360 exclusive! There is a rumor that the AC series is coming back to Sony, but that's just a rumor. BG&E came out for PS2, XBox, PC, and Gamecube, so there's a good chance that it will remain cross-platform. From the screenshots, though, I think that the Wii is SOL.

Anybody actually play the first one and care to comment?
Reminds me of Ico...wonderful game...critically acclaimed...but not that many people seemed to have played it.
Jon Acheson @ May 29th 2008 10:51AM
I played the first one. While it was a well-made game, I didn't see what all the fuss was about. I got tired of it pretty quickly, but I'm not a fan of platformers.
ArcaneBane @ May 28th 2008 4:29PM
This is great news. Was just playing the original last week after hearing the rumors that this would be announced.
They better announce that this will be on the PS3.
DeadPlasmaCell @ May 28th 2008 4:53PM
Anyone else think the pics look like Rock Bands Intro??
jojo29 @ May 28th 2008 4:57PM
Same here, the first one was an absolute blast to play,i even loved the music. Also, i too pulled out the first one to play all over again and am not surprised at all at how fun it still is to play....aahhh, thats great game design right there :)
JaseH @ May 28th 2008 5:22PM
To anyone who doubts it'll come to the PS3, or are skeptical...
Seeing as this is also being announced WITHIN PS3's 'Home' by Ubisoft... I would say otherwise.

Hope the main character looks less disney...ish.
Laurens Holst @ May 29th 2008 4:34AM
I have no words for how excited I am about this news :). Awesome!
Laurens Holst @ May 29th 2008 4:40AM
And just for the record, the original was a fantastic game.
anthonyjh @ May 29th 2008 1:41PM
Oh my god... I really never thought this would happen. YAAAAY!

If anyones wondering why this game didn't do well
Ubisoft was smoking something when they released Beyond Good & Evil and Prince of Persia AT THE SAME FREAKING TIME, Marketed the crap out of Prince of Persia (never seen any advertisement for Beyond Good & Evil)
Picked up Beyond Good & Evil after reading the reviews (great), for $10, I couldn't believe it, this game had 'heart' and emotion: something that is seriously missing from the mass slew of FPSs that currently plague our gaming world.
It's mostly a puzzle solving / platforming / boss battling / mini gaming / stealth / picture taking kind of game.
And I would play it again.
