BioShock PS3 is official, out by October
2K Games have spoken up about BioShock on PS3 and reconfirmed that the game is due for October 2008. The game will have all the standard port stuff with the additional DLC and patches from the previous 360 version. However, Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, assures us there's more coming: "Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms."
Excellent, we're looking forward to knowing what those "new features and content" are. In the meantime, sit tight everyone and just enjoy this fan made box art.

Hell, yeah!
FrankTheCrank @ May 28th 2008 2:09PM
Agreed, with a little fuck yeah on top!!!
orthonovum @ May 28th 2008 1:37PM
meh...
tried PC version, it was just another FPS with really really bad AI and average graphics (at full setting with an 8800)
could not get into it enough to finish, but maybe when it hits the PS3 bargain bin I will pick it up...
creyes4182 @ May 28th 2008 5:08PM
I felt like that too until I realized the game doesn't get good till later. You should give it another shot.
Eggy @ May 28th 2008 5:39PM
Oh come on the game looked great. The gameplay was not so great though, especially for someone who loved system shock 2 because of the different approaches one good take to achieving your goals. In Bioshock you need to go in guns and hands blazing the majority of the time.
frankym @ May 28th 2008 1:42PM
This is the only true "must have" that was a timed exclusive for that other console
reson8er @ May 28th 2008 1:44PM
Its official: I'm totally stoked.
reson8er @ May 28th 2008 1:46PM
Judging by their choice of wording, they intend to make it a $59.99 dollar game. I hope they really up the bar if this is the case.
Nathanical @ May 28th 2008 2:28PM
i wish we had it that cheap in the UK :(
P @ May 28th 2008 2:46PM
Nath: Im sure they wish they had wages on par with that of the UK.
Comparatively, we have a high cost of living, and considerably better wages.
Its all swings and roundabouts, at first it used to bother me when the internet made overseas markets considerably more accessable, but really when you think about it, theres very little difference.
Also, unless im very much mistaken, the US prices you see are still yet to be taxed, the UK prices have already been taxed, and at an average of about 10% more compared to US state tax.
The prices still dont match up as they should, but i guess we get milked a little harder because we get paid better in Europe.
reson8er @ May 28th 2008 3:10PM
Totally agree "P".
Especially now, since the dollar is so weak.
wonway01 @ May 28th 2008 1:48PM
I have hear good things about this title for the most part.
So thumbs up!
Hyams @ May 28th 2008 1:50PM
Why does fan box art always look so much better than the offical box art?
iFester @ May 28th 2008 2:19PM
If you want to replace your box art, just head over to http://www.console-covers.com/ and download some of the fan made covers.
John McPoop (PSN:johnnynumber5) @ May 29th 2008 12:09AM
Agreed - that is some phoenominal box art
balaam @ May 28th 2008 1:53PM
STOAKED, this game will rock
HektikLyfe @ May 28th 2008 1:54PM
Nice! I am looking forward to this game. I enjoyed it immensely on the 360 and look forward to any additions they added for the PS3 version. (The first version was kind of short.)
If there is any graphic or framerate increase that will be a special bonus!
HektikLyfe @ May 28th 2008 1:56PM
Yes, the timed exclusive screams for a $39.99 price point. I totally agree.
ArmorForVictor @ May 28th 2008 3:47PM
i would buy it at either $40 or $60 i only hope we get a limited edition too with a big daddy figurine in it.
HektikLyfe @ May 28th 2008 8:09PM
I have the figurine, haven't figured out what to do with it yet. :S
Kilo720 @ May 28th 2008 2:07PM
i think i will buy it again i bought it for 360 and i liked
alot im willin to buy another, hopely these new feature are cool
William Thorstensen Karlsen @ May 28th 2008 2:10PM
oh dear lord, i want to make a poster out of that box art
highman888 @ May 28th 2008 2:24PM
I played it on PC, I couldn't see what all the hype was about. Kind of a looney FPS with peeps running around crazy. The lockpicking system reminds me of a cheesy "FREE GAME DOWNLOADS!" website, and the FPS action was just....bleh...storyline seemed.....bleh....Reminded me of playing Myst 2:Riven for some reason, which itself in it's time was a great title.
Byron517 @ May 28th 2008 2:41PM
I hope the price is not full
-Jad- @ May 28th 2008 3:04PM
Same here. $40 prite tag sound good but a $59.99 + mtaxes maaannnn that's a not not to me.
The-E @ May 28th 2008 3:01PM
I am totally stoked for this!!played it in a friends house a few months ago and was hooked!! too bad i had to leave...but now i can finish it!!!
reson8er @ May 28th 2008 3:15PM
2 Screenshots of the PS3 version are now on IGN.

StevenRafael @ May 28th 2008 3:17PM
Everyone is saying that the storyline is killer. Personally, I wasn't drawn in too much by it, nor was I intrigued by the combat. I picked it up for the 360, and I have yet to really get into it.
These extra features better be damn worth it for me to pick up the PS3 version..
Split screen co op perhaps? Or multiplayer deathmatch even??? Yeah I know, I'm dreaming here.
They'll probably just have some sort of Home integration (even that could be wishful thinking).
HektikLyfe @ May 28th 2008 3:26PM
I for one hope they DON'T include multiplayer deathmatch and instead concentrate on beefing up the single player experience.
kentuckyfried @ May 28th 2008 4:17PM
I agree with the other guy...multiplayer won't really work that well for Bioshock, the controls are just not really meant for it (imagine everybody running around throwing incinerate at each other and you'll know what I mean). Beating Big Daddies takes some methodical planning and environment use, something which can't really be done that well when playing against a live opponent (especially with level designs that are non-circular). But I think they could do a wonderful job expanding the levels/adding levels in terms of content b/c from the way that it's presented, Rapture is huge, but only a small part of it is viewed in the game.
Volomon @ May 28th 2008 3:53PM
Well now I can find those year old comments on the forums and say I told you so. Damn I'm always right and I love it.
Mattchewie @ May 28th 2008 3:57PM
I really enjoyed bioshock on the 360. I personally thought the game had a lot of cool atmosphere and the story line was pretty sweet (especially for a FPS).
Mattchewie @ May 28th 2008 4:00PM
I enjoyed the game on the 360. I don't know about the full price thing though unless they really provide an extended gaming experience.
kentuckyfried @ May 28th 2008 4:18PM
Here's also hoping that expand on the pitiful endings. lol.
The Sound @ May 28th 2008 6:30PM
Gawd, if that's the actual cover...
Seriously, that is one badass cover. too bad it won't look like that =[
SmooveRN @ May 28th 2008 8:01PM
Due out October 2008... sorry delayed...
Due out January 2009... uhh, delayed...
Due out..?
Which PS3 game were we talking about again?
Bet me it won't happen.
HektikLyfe @ May 28th 2008 8:10PM
Multi-player co-op on the other hand...
Nugent @ May 28th 2008 8:40PM
I enjoyed this game quite a bit on the PC. The new content would have to be pretty substantial to make me want to buy it again though. New plasmids, tonics, or weapons wouldn't be enough, there'd have to be new levels to make me want to pay another $60 (especially since I've already experienced the narrative and story).
sicklesdawg @ May 29th 2008 12:05AM
October?? UGH
HanzoTheRazor @ May 29th 2008 12:08AM
Very happy indeed! Played through it on my 360 and loved it. The best thing this game has is ATMOSPHERE. It's dark, gritty, twisted and has incredible lighting. I agree, this is not a good style of shooter to play online. I do think 2K will beef it up though, to attract a bigger audience from those that have already played it. Can't wait!
Mykal Bloom @ May 29th 2008 1:31AM
I've gotta say, this was the only game that had any real appeal to me on the Xbox 360, so I'm glad this'll be coming to PS3.
Although, what the hell, October?
Lame.
Mike @ May 29th 2008 2:03AM
played it on the 360 it was decent i returned it after i beat it tho.
Mike @ May 29th 2008 2:03AM
if u look closely it says number of players 1-2 ?!?!?!?!? and i bet the hdd install will be around 4-5 gigs
reson8er @ May 29th 2008 10:56AM
If you look really closely, you know at the actual article, you'll see the box is a fan made, not real.
Griffo @ May 29th 2008 6:06AM
New features...maybe online play? That would be awesome...i played it on PC and thought it would be sick if it had online play.
ihatebioshock @ May 29th 2008 7:35AM
Oh come on, 2k (aus and boston) could hardly produce a 'proper' game for the well known 360 and the uber powerful PCs so don't get your hopes up that the PS3 version will be anything other than a very tired and underwhelming port. This isn't a dig at PS3 (I'm an owner) it's a dig at 2k. They do the bare minimum needed for their ports (as witnessed by the appauling PC version with 16:9 hud graphics instead of 16:10, completely non standard PC key layout and very bad mouse control).
On top of that, I doubt it will be graphically improved in fact i'd bet my copy of Crysis that it will not even be running at 720p when it comes out.
And even if it does it won't hide the fact that the game was overated, lacking in fun, mediocre/repetitive gameplay, very VERY scruffy level 'design' (looked like loads of random meshes thrown into the editor), treacle like animations and physics updates, "soft" gunplay, overuse of vita chambers which killed challenge and glitches galore.
The game is also guilty of taking itself (it's story) far too seriously when in fact it's nothing a high school english student couldn't have knocked up in a day.
Best bit of the game is the setting and the premise, but after the initial 'wooh i'm underwater in a city' you realise it's just another corridor shooter with little reason to do anything more than whack splicers with the wrench over and over again. Trust me, if you've not played it and are hyped for it, lower you expectations right now then you may just enjoy it a little.... but no more than any average FPS from the last 5 years.
You want a good fps (not on PS3) get HL2:EP2 or Crysis (both running on a fast PC), it's good for clearing your head as to what can be done with modern shooters instead of being 'blinded' by the heavy handed concept in bioshock.
ihatebioshock @ May 29th 2008 7:35AM
I should add however, it's good news that the PS3 is getting it, one less reason for that other "unreliable system" to be purchased by gamers who may think Bioshock is actually any good.
Wise Guy @ May 29th 2008 11:26PM
one less reason for that other "unreliable system" to be purchased
Oh.... you mean like the many reasons for the RELIABLE system to be purchased with premium exclusives..... HAZE, LAIR, HEAVENLY SWORD, Buggy Ports, Poor online, dated controller, etc. etc.... to each their own fanboy!!!
kentuckyfried @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:22PM
MGS4 baby. that's the only exclusive the ps3 needs. =D
Mike @ May 30th 2008 1:37AM
wise guy.... haze is a decent game, lair and heavenly sword... how old are those???? buggy ports....the port version will always be worse... poor online??? obv u dont have ur router hooked up right kuz ive been fine is just as good as xbl IMO without the precious achievments that xb fanboys care so much about... dated controller... get the DS3 snub
