This is what 'next gen' Prince of Persia looks like

Another great reveal today besides that of Beyond Good & Evil 2 (which we mentioned earlier) is Prince of Persia. The trailer for this game looks exquisite, and we're really excited to see more. In this trailer, we see this iteration's prince fighting monsters while keeping his face concealed; we also get to watch his new ally Elika help out.

Thankfully, there were no odd cross promotions going on -- say if the prince took off the layers of cloth covering his face only to reveal that he was indeed ... Jake Gyllenhaal (who is set to star in the movie). That would be disturbing.

same here. i'm kinda disappointed in this trailer actually. i figured they'd have a more unified style. but this is realistic, and the in game looks like concept art.

This really is shaping up. I love the PoP series, but I'm one of the minority who liked Warrior Within and Two Thrones much better than Sands of Time.

CGI trailer? Eh...I guess. If that's in-game I'm impressed but they're still fighting on an empty field.

Wake me when it's actuall gameplay footage.

I've played through enough PoP gameplay (in various games, wink) to not want anymore unless it's really cool.

That trailer was dumb. How did the flood from halo get into PoP?

Lets see if it stays true after release. with so many over hyped games this year and most of them disapointing to us i will reserve my excitement until the game is complete, but if it actually comes out looking like this trailer i will say this i am impressed and feel this is what the next gen is suppose to look like.

Without game play footage, I'll say this will be a turkey. Come on, even the Insomniac guys are showing us in-game shots and come June, footage and they are launching during the holiday season. Surely everyone else can manage some in game stuff rather than this CGI shiite!

Looks fantastic in my opinion. I love the new cell shaded approach. Hopefully the gameplay remains great...

Ubi was my favorite developer (Splinter Cells, GhostRh, RB6) but has slipped from grace IMO (Splinter Cell DA was the worst of the series and the new ones been screwed from the beginning, Assassins was like a very repetative beta, Ghost Rh. 2 was too short, and RB62 was a complete re hash.)

Graphically Ubi can always cut it..hopefully they dont forget the gameplay.

i love the PoP series ... still play it on PSP and loved it on Gamecube and PS2

wow the game looks nothing like that. I cant believe they would even show that at all, if you have seen the article in GI the game looks cell shaded.

Looks utterly generic and cliche-ridden to me. Gritty voice over guy talking about a war between good and evil? Check. Moody, bad-ass hero? Check. Check. Babe with magic? Check. Yawn.

Where's the warm and magical fairytale Arabian Nights atmosphere gone to? The exoticism? Maybe the designers should try reading One Hundred and One Nights and a Night, or watching some classic Sinbad or Arabian Nights movies. Slapping a quirky cartoon shading effect over unoriginal stock fantasy doesn't work.
