PS3 version of Alone in the Dark getting a frame rate fix; not cancelled
You'd certainly be forgiven for believing that the release of the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark was looking a little unstable. There's been no real word on it for a while, despite the 360, Wii, PS2 and PC versions hitting store shelves next month. Thankfully, Eden Games have gone on record to say that a PS3 version is "not that far off." Claiming that they are having some frame rate issues, the game is still being fixed and tweaked in order to make it ready for public consumption.
The game will definitely be coming out this year, according to Eden Games' Nour Polloni. It's good to know Alone in the Dark hasn't been cancelled on the PS3 as many had feared. Being the cynics that we are, however, we can't help but think this is another one of those strategic delays, considering that the game was due out a week after arguably the biggest PS3 release this year: Metal Gear Solid 4. Just a thought.

Cancelled? When or where did they say
Hashbrown Hunter @ May 30th 2008 8:34AM
Though the devs didn't officially announce any cancellation A lot of people ASSUMED it was cancelled (especially considering all of the media coverage the other versions of the game were getting)

lazy devs again?
adolson @ May 30th 2008 9:20AM
Maybe they aren't used to the PS3's quirks, quite yet? Maybe they aren't lazy since they're actually bothering to try and get it working better, rather than just shipping it out, like, you know, how a lazy dev would do?

Good chance that ol' Phil Harrison wanted the PS3 to be eqaul to the 360 version and ordered a delay.
Just my two cents anyway.

That is a good point also... He may also have chimed in with a reminder about Metal Gear Solid, because let's face it, there wouldn't be many people picking it up if it launched that close. 360 owners don't have Metal Gear, nor do Wii owners, so it's like their consolation prize (and I don't mean that in a bad way; I'm not really a Metal Gear fan. AITD looks more my thing, actually).

As long as the issues are worked out Im fine with it. Cant help to think that it is being delayed till after MGS comes out lol.
JoJo @ May 30th 2008 9:41AM
If it was delayed for MGS4.. that was a stupid idea, because i was planning to get alone in the dark and MGS4 anywazes.
But anywhoo.. i'll just be online on GTA IV killing everyone! xD
Kenology @ May 30th 2008 9:49AM
But many people can only get one or the other. Releasing both games at the same time is actually what would be a "stupid idea". MGS4 would certainly eat into AITD's sales.
JoJo @ May 30th 2008 9:55AM
Yes true. But sooner or later they will get alone in the dark.
Vcize @ May 30th 2008 10:25AM
Well, I'm glad they're taking the time to fix it rather than just releasing a broken version like Orange Box or R6V2 and saying "yeah we'll fix it eventually".

Frame Rate Fix a.k.a. Resolution Drop
Twinturbo120 @ May 30th 2008 7:17PM
who cares as long as we get it i'll be happy
