Chainsaws and plagas: Resident Evil 5 trailer

Here it is. The brand new Resident Evil 5 trailer. On display are some ridiculously gorgeous graphics, as expected. However, watch a new character be introduced ... and the return of plagas? We're curious to see how this new virus develops, and we can't wait to find out more.

This game looks sweet and that babe looks very sweet as well. Man is it me or does almost every new next generation game look incredible compared to last consoles. I cant wait to see the games that TEAM ICO are working on.

I've been a long time Resident Evil fan, remember playing the first one when it came out but I think they may be running out of steam. This kind of seems like Resident Evil 4 just in Africa minus the president's daughter. Though to be honest I didn't like 4 all that much, not saying either are (and/or will be) bad games though.

Can't wait for RE5, but I understand you point. Alot of the zombie character models are reminiscent of each other (or at least the last game), but they seem to re-invent the series a decent amount. RE2 played like RE1, but was bigger. RE3 was similar, but Nemesis spiced things up. Code Veronica was a bigger departure as far as presentation and enemy design. RE4 opened things up; combat-wise, level-wise, gamplay-mechanic-wise. I RE4 in overdrive - obviously more zombies on-screen, more weapons/ammo, and host of new moves to combat what looks to be a more intense and urgent
battles.

I was hopeing RE4 was a departure from the series rather than the direction it was going in. Obviously I haven't played RE5 yet, but from the looks of things it's similar to RE4 ie too much ammo and too many powerful weapons.
I mean it's great to blow a zombie away with a shotgun, but it kind of breaks the tension and makes the game less scary when there is ammo everywhere like in RE4. The scariest thing about RE games is you have to manage your ammo well.

So i wonder if these people are really zombies or what. I was a little disappointed in the enemies in 4. I just kind of miss the classic zombie feel. Not to say they can't be smart of fast but they just seemed too human... I'm sure I'll get it on day one, I'm really excited for this one. Just wondering about the undead : )

Looks good....kinda like Serpent and the Rainbow meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre...

Hope this game is good and does not suffer from crappy graphics like GTA4 due to it being multiplatform and not a PS3 exclusive.

i wonder where jill is. haven't seen her since resident evil 3. and claire should be in re5. didn't she and chris escape together in code veronica?

i wonder when this story will end and when umbrella will finally fall. Seems to be the same several people fighting them.

what i noticed was that the lines don't seem so cheesy anymore. I'm optimistic! Looks like capcom is going for a more realistic feel for this game.

I have been a fan since I was 5, of course, back then, I was to scared to finish them. :) Slowly I grew a little tired of the way it was, I still enjoyed them. But, then, as if they were reading my mind, RE4 came out. It was amazing. RE5 has cemented its way into my mind as one of the few games I have to have on release. So, now my list is Starcraft 2, RE5, Final Fantasy 13 and another metroid or halo game.

Where the hell is Barry? All he ever had was crappy Resident Evil Gaiden. They completely wrote him out of RE1 in Umbrella Chronicles! If Barry doesn't at least make a cameo in this game, I'm going down to Capcom studios and knockin some skulls.

Looks good, however, not amazing. I think this game will suffer because it is multiplatform. Graphics would have been much better if they could pack it all on a dual layer blu ray. Same thing that happend with GTA4....graphics suffered b/c it was multiplatform.

i'm really going to miss the progenitor, T and G virus! as good as this game is looking its just not the same Resident Evil anymore. These new dudes looks like something out of that Blade 2 movie when their mouths open up.
I really hope this story relates too the older resident evils, I liked 4 but wasn't much for the story.
The graphics are looking great though.

Man, this just makes me even more psyched out for this game. I'm definitely going to the midnight release. As for the Progenitor, T and G viruses I'm hoping that they will make some sort of insane super virus/parasite that incorporates everything into one. That would be crazy...

Seems like it will suffer in the graphics department because it multiplatform.

PS3 exclusivity would have allowed it to shine.

Haze was originally multiplatform and Sony paid for its exclusivity at the last moment b/c they needed a hardcore FPS.

It was not developed from the ground up for the PS3.

I'm not one for video games, never really have been. Then Resident Evil 4 came out. It totally changed the way I viewed video games. It was the first and only game I've ever beaten every which way possible. It was a mindfuck. Being a movie buff, I really enjoyed the not-so-subtle homages to some of my favorite horror films.
The new direction Resident Evil has taken is for the better. Consider 4 a martyr. Now, like many musicians, it's time for the sophomore album. This is where 5 comes into play*. In my listening experience, usually the bands best album is their second. It's where they really find themselves and develope their sound. I think 5 is going to be just that.
Resident Evil 4 was the first step to greatness, now it's time to kick it up, and from the looks of this new trailer, Resident Evil 5 is not only going to kick it up, it's going to blow us out of the fucking water.

*I know a lot of you are going to bitch about Resident Evil 4 not being the first Resident Evil....NO SHIT. But if you think about gameplay, it really is a new beginning for the franchise.

I hate to bring this topic up again, but did anyone notice the white zombies thrown in? Do you think they were originally a part of the game and we didn't notice them before, or do you think they added them in due to the negative reactions to the original trailer?
