Blu-ray movie releases for the week of June 1
This week should be dubbed "Blu-ray Days 2008" because it's truly going to be quite a celebration for movie aficionados. Why do we say that, and where is the list? To answer both those questions, the list is way too long to fit on the front page, and well, that should really speak for itself as to why you should be excited for this week's Blu-ray releases. So check the full list after the break and be shocked and awed at the bountiful harvest of flicks for the summer.

Huh? Plenty of those were already released. Are those paramount's re-issuing of canceled titles or something?
I know I already have:
Disturbia
Tomb Raider
Mission Impossible Trilogy
I've also rented some of the others from netflix.
reson8er @ Jun 1st 2008 8:14PM
Yeah but when Paramount got paid off by HDDVD and Microsoft, they stopped making them, so for along time many of those movies were "out of print", and as a result harder to come by.
These are indeed re-releases.
evilfoxhound @ Jun 1st 2008 4:30PM
Us Brits can only dream of seeing a list like that.
golden sapphire @ Jun 2nd 2008 1:01AM
crazy aint it
SOCOMRAIDER @ Jun 1st 2008 4:32PM
Are some of these remasters, re-releases or something? Some of these have been out on Blu-Ray for a while now.
jq71586 @ Jun 1st 2008 4:49PM
When Paramount went to HD-DVD they pulled all their blu titles for the shelves. They are just putting them back out on the shelves again. They didn't remaster them they actually in some cases changed the case style and took off that silver line that had their tagline on it.
And Cloverfield shouldn't be the picture shown at the top of the page. It should be Patton. It's a top notch transfer. :)
Popfrogs @ Jun 1st 2008 4:34PM
Yeah, great list but alot of those are already out. What's your source for this?
Nerdkiller @ Jun 1st 2008 4:41PM
The only thing that can top all those releases is the release of Transformers and ONLY Transformers.
Meximan @ Jun 1st 2008 4:57PM
Have to agree with you there.
LS @ Jun 1st 2008 5:22PM
Transformers? pffft purlease that movie reeked...although the chick was hot.

@ The Aggie
I hear Lucas is working on an extra special edition for the Blu-ray release, one in which Han Solo doesn't actually shoot anyone ever--they're all killed by their own ricochets.
MCX @ Jun 1st 2008 5:06PM
Still waiting on the "Matrix Trilogy"

jq71586 @ Jun 1st 2008 6:25PM
Possible release in box set with Crystal Skull's release on DVD/Blu. I don't think they will though.
anthonyjh @ Jun 1st 2008 5:43PM
Cloverfield really started the year off wrong. Absolutely terrible movie. I have yet to start buying blu rays, but once Children Of Men finally makes the transition I will be all over it.
A1 @ Jun 1st 2008 6:05PM

Good times
Ed @ Jun 1st 2008 6:25PM
Agreed, that's one of the best movies to come out in recent years in my opinion.
anthonyjh @ Jun 1st 2008 7:14PM
Holey crap! Thank you so much!
carterk @ Jun 1st 2008 5:45PM
Yea alot of these are re-issues. Back before paramount signed a deal with toshiba to be HDDVD exclusive they were released in small numbers to stores but obviously that ended really quick when they stopped manufacturing blu rays. As we all know blu is the winner so now they're back on our side. I did read on highdefdigest that a couple of them would have some added features though.
Ramel @ Jun 1st 2008 6:27PM
World Trade Center has been on blu-ray for a few months already.
Dan Davis @ Jun 1st 2008 8:21PM
Dirty Harry FTW!
You feelin lucky, punk?
golden sapphire @ Jun 1st 2008 10:55PM
damn that list is long!
golden sapphire @ Jun 1st 2008 10:55PM
damn that list is long!
Oddface @ Jun 2nd 2008 11:00AM
Cloverfield on Blu-Ray seems kinda pointless to me. The thing is shot with a friggin' handcam. It's supposed to look kinda crappy. I'd just get it on DVD, save some money.
Matt @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:10PM
Don't be silly. In the story, it was a handheld camcorder, but the movie was shot in HD. The cinematography and lighting were quite beautiful, given the limitation of the style.
Mykal Bloom @ Jun 2nd 2008 1:00AM
Goodbye Money.
I hardly knew thee.
meltzer.justin @ Jun 2nd 2008 5:48AM
I've been waiting for There Will Be Blood for the longest time. Also Transformers did suck. Sorry but it's true.
golden sapphire @ Jun 2nd 2008 6:21AM
damn right it did... the only thing it had going for it were the visual effects and audio which did looked good
Popfrogs @ Jun 2nd 2008 10:44AM
"my bad". *groan*
HektikLyfe @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:10PM
Was Cloverfield filmed in HD? I thought they used an SD DVC camera to film the entire thing? That's what marketing said. ;)
Oddface @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:19PM
Even if it was shot in HD, it's still supposed to look like the footage was filmed with your average handycam. If the picture is crystal clear, that kinda ruins the illusion.
glassd @ Jun 2nd 2008 1:07PM
It's not about making things clearer. It's about fidelity. Higher resolutions crappyness is still better then lower resolution crappyness. And i'm sure the uncompressed linear PCM or the dolby TrueHD audio tracks are gonna kick the shit out of anything that DTS 5.1 can pull off on the dvd.
A1 @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:29PM
anthonyjh no worries mate.
If any of you guys want to know about import Blu-rays this is a great website whcih tells you if their region free or not.
http://bluray.liesinc.net/
Also just head over to Blu-ray.com and you'll find out what has been released overseas which might not be in the US.
I love the imports. :)
