PS3 Fanboy @ Hideo Kojima's London signing

Click for high resolution image.
We risked being trampled by 300 rabid Hideo Kojima fans to bring you some photos and coverage of the event at HMV Oxford Street. Kojima himself was joined by the lead artist for the Metal Gear Solid series, Yoji Shinkawa, as well as Beauty and the Beast model Yumi Kikuchi. Together they signed 300 pre-order sleeves for Metal Gear Solid 4, in preparation for the game's launch next week. Check out our gallery below for photos of the VIPs along with the huge throng of people who came to greet them. They were all out of sleeves by the time we got there, so we got something a little more special signed. Image after the break ...

wish could of got down there
Jem @ Jun 2nd 2008 1:25PM
That's my personal copy which I took down specifically to get signed. Imported for use on my US PS3. Sadly, there are no plans for Konami to release the collection in Europe. Sorry!

I have a feeling EGM are going to rate this game low for this reason...
Popfrogs @ Jun 2nd 2008 2:03PM
Yeah, personally I don't care what anyone rates it at this point. Kojima made this for the fans (me), not for reviewers or even the general public for that matter.

Maad Sheikh @ Jun 2nd 2008 1:44PM
I i right in saying that the game is metal gear solid: the essential collection?
i thought that its only out in the US but will this one work on UK PS2/PS3's???
redhotmoltenlava @ Jun 2nd 2008 1:50PM
I was there! It was good to meet the Great Kojima, but I don't think my foreign babbling impressed him much.
Youri Zoutman @ Jun 2nd 2008 3:40PM
Was he only signing the pre-order sleeves, or was he also signing other stuff?
I'm going this the Amsterdam signing next week, so I'm happy either way!
The Dark Trooper @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:05PM
Dam, Doubt they'll be going anywhere near NZ :(

If Kojima actually cared about his fans, he wouldn't have dissed Canada.

I was there from about 5:30am, until they let us in at 9 to buy the signable sleeve (£5, which was then deductable from RRP if you buy MGS4 from HMV). We then had to go back outside and queue again until about 12 I think it was.
They had 300 sleeves to buy, and I reckon only about 20 missed out.
When they let us in at 12 we had to wait a little bit for Kojima san, Shinkawa san and Kikuchi san to arrive. Unfortunately, there were 2 nightclub-style bouncers with them who basicly moved you along like on a conveyor belt and before you knew where you were you were out. Take my advice - if you attend, worry about getting your own photo taken, not anyone elses as the bouncers give you just seconds to get your bearings, and they wouldn't let you ask for anything else to be signed which was a shame as just about everyone brought previous MGS sleeves or merchandise with them - I saw some really rare items too. Other than those guys, it would have been faultless.
Quazatron @ Jun 2nd 2008 7:30PM
Forgot to mention, it was truely great to see them all and I'm glad I went, just a bit gutted that when it came down to it I was completely distracted by the bouncers constant instructions, and couldn't appreciate the actual moment of meeting them all :/

*SIGH*! I wont even have chance since no one ever comes to Florida for a game release! Never you mind that Orlando is a city of over 3 million! so bitter, so jaded
