European PSN Store update for June 5th

Another pleasing update. Demos, add on packs and PS1/PSP games are always welcome. We didn't really expect to see the God of War Guitar Hero III pack arriving in Europe before the US. As for Toy Home: Second Gear, that's a nice little surprise as well. Here's the full release list:

Okay SCEE, let's call it quits. Keep this up and we'll have nothing to complain about. Regular PS1 titles and content hitting on the same day as the US Store is exactly what we've been after for the last year. The lack of NovaStrike is unsurprising, but it'll be with us next week, right SCEE?

I remember playing Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six about 8 years ago on a friend's PS1 and thinking: "This game has the worst controls EVER."

Anyone else remember this ?

Yeah i remember playing it thinking the same thing, back before i even had a dualshock. It was impossible to play.

As for the update, whats gotten into SCEE? Haven't tried Battlefield but Burst Limit is quite a lot of fun.

Echochrome isn't due until the 5th July, Killzone PSP is available for half the price on ebay, Dragonball Z demo has already been released in the US, Tom Clancy for PS1 was garbage...

And the US will get it's biggest update ever today! Commando 3, Novastrike, Qore (Webcast TV show), Civilisation Demo....*gasp* and probably more!

We need a unified store. It's a GLOBAL NETWORK!

Lets just hope Novastrike doesn't turn into another Pain where we want months for it to appear on the store and then regret buying it about 3 hours after it did finally appear.

hmm i agree the only good thing in this update is BF:BC but its 1600mb so its more a three course meal than a sandwich but i dont see why civ ect couldent have been here too ahh well ... times like this im glad i have a uk,us and jap psn accounts oh and if anyone has a jap psn get fatal inerita its kinda like wipeout but .. i duno i like it more than wipeout big demo too

1.6GB is nothing... If you want hi-def movie downloads on the PS3, get used to the large download sizes.

That said, Battlefield Bad Company has a ton of playability in it. Moreso than any other demo I've played to date. I'm up to about 6.5 hours or so of time invested into it. Well worth the bandwidth to download, in my opinion.

Also, compare that to the Haze demo... They were only a few hundred MB different, and Haze lasted about 10 minutes or so... Even though I played through it several times, it doesn't even come close to Battlefield. Full-course meal is right. :)

Fatal Inertia is horribly slow and nothing like Wipeout, roll on Wipeout HD!!

You're right, they're not similar at all. In WipEout HD, you fly a ship and race around a course, and there are powerups and weapons you can pickup. Fatal Inertia EX is a first-person shooter with no powerups and no real weapons - you just throw apples at people. Totally different games.

Exactly! Great to see Europe getting GHIII DLC at the same time as the US, long may it continue!
For those interested apparently the Motörhead track pack contains "(We are) The Road Crew", "Stay Clean" and "Motörhead" performed by Motörhead.

wow battlefield is good even if it is affiliated with that god awful company.

I really liked the game, the weapons sounded better than cod4 and the gameplay was just as intense. The graphics were not too bad but for some reason there seemed to be a lot of noise, could be my tv.

I thought this would be rubbish but I quite like it, still not quite cod4 standards but its close, really close.

Pulled off quite well on the ps3.

What do you think of it?

It's not your TV... It's like that. I'm not sure if they're trying to give it that for effect, but it is grainy and more noticeable the closer you sit. I'd like to hear about why it's like that. My guess was to make it grainy/gritty like war is.. Just a guess, but it seems to bug some people.

I've had more fun in multiplayer in this demo than in COD4. Mostly because I'm not good at these games, but there is much more to do in Battlefield.

In COD4, it was run, shoot, get shot, die, respawn. Rinse and repeat.

In Battlefield's demo, the map is huge, I can run, get in a tank, blow some people up, then die. Then I can respawn, heal some hurting teammates, get pinned down by a sniper while a tank blows away my cover, then die. Respawn, jump in a heli, fly towards the enemy base, take out a tank on the way there, then get shot down by rockets, die. Respawn, rinse, repeat. Except don't repeat, because you can also jump in a Humvee, a boat, etc etc.. Lots of options, and it feels epic when things are blowing up all around you. :) I really like it. DICE have done well, I think.

Yeah for me COD4 fails because you're basically a rat in a maze on every map. No vehicles either. It's like Battlefield minus the field.

I'm looking forward to this game, I was a bigtime BF2 junkie on the PC a year ago. Had a joystick to pilot jets and everything. The squad-focused play is something that's sorely missing right now also.

Thank you for the clarification adolson about the TV, it bugged me at first but its not to bad now.

After playing it a bit more I have decided that it is a cod4 killer and thats a good analogy Popfrogs. Indeed if you were not brilliant at the game then you were hunted down like rats.

Battlefiled gives players (excuse the pun) a fighting chance to battle and play against those that are good.

Battlefield retains what made cod4 great but expands on it, it makes it feel like a real warzone its incredible. For those that do this in real life I take my hat off to you. You have some guts. When a tank shell hits a building and you see half your team wiped out its scary but thrilling. I can only imagine the horror of these situations in real life.

Its nice that you get the whole points system to get new weapons. Its nice to have something to work towards ala cod4.

Im not sure what these five weapons are for, do you need to preorder the game to unlock them?

I was worried that this would be a horrible game due to the pc ones (from what iv played) being great and could not imagine it being pullled off for a console.

Great gameplay, some of the best weapon effects iv heard, good graphics and the destructible enviroments really top this game off. This has got to be a winner in my opinion.

Im more looking forward to this than mgs4!!! blaspheme I know.
