What? Qore grants late access to SOCOM beta? [Update]
Did you buy Qore solely for access to the SOCOM Confrontation beta? Well, looks like you might've bitten too early. A small comment on the SOCOM official website shows that Qore guarantees access into the beta ... but two weeks after the public beta launches. Wha? According to a comment by David Brothers, "Qore gives access to the public SOCOM beta two weeks after the public beta launches."
Why would they delay beta access to Qore members? We're not entirely sure. However, there are other ways to go about getting access into the beta: "There are other ways to get into the public beta beforehand, like the upcoming preorder program, so don't worry about the ratio of non-SOCOM fans to SOCOM fanatics."
These comments were made three days ago, so it's unclear if the beta's policies have changed since then. We're going to try and find out the latest word -- stay tuned.
Update: Veronica Belmont has updated us: "If you buy the pre-order for SOCOM with the headset, and put $5 down for the beta, you'll get it a bit before ours (and that's depending on if everything ships as planned, too). They're not the same beta. Otherwise, our beta is still before anyone else will get it."
[Thanks, Mike!]

If it's a "public" beta....wouldn't it be open to the general "public" or is it a "public via invite" beta?
Could I possibly use any more quotes? Find out next time...
adolson @ Jun 6th 2008 2:45PM
If all the Qore content comes later than the other methods, the doomsayers have nothing to worry about. Does seem kinda silly, though.
Nick @ Jun 6th 2008 2:47PM
Wow. Maybe the beta invites from Qore get a longer time to play with the beta, then. If not, buying that issue of Qore seems quite pointless, indeed.
Dan Davis @ Jun 6th 2008 2:55PM
The free download of "Calling All Cars" and SOCOM theme beg to differ...
Nick @ Jun 6th 2008 3:28PM
Oh, wow, a theme and a shoddy PSN game. Sign me up for that.
The Clunge @ Jun 6th 2008 2:56PM
This whole Qore thing seems a bit of a fustercluck. Being in Europe I should be immune from such things, as to attempt to charge for things they'd actually have to supply enough content to be able to ringfence a portion for paying customers. Little danger of that.
adolson @ Jun 6th 2008 2:59PM
Many people pay for other Future US magazines (in print form) and do not receive much content. Look at their Nintendo Power magazine... There's nothing in there that you can't read weeks in advance on the internet.
Fiddlesworth @ Jun 6th 2008 2:58PM
Yeah quite pointless - because you ONLY get a SOCOM beta entry with Qore.
No professionally developed video magazine and SOCOM theme. And Calling All Cars! if you subscribe.
Jtenma @ Jun 6th 2008 3:16PM
You said"professionlly developed magazine"? No.. a lady sitting in front of you on your television, telling you the "latest info" (shit you already know for free) is not professional. Did you really not know Soul Caliber wasn't coming out, and had darth vader?......Basically all these "exclusive interviews" were just saying what any other developer would say about his/her game, "the best remade for next-gen". This is just paying for ads. Hell when you start it up, a big BK advertisement pops up on screen and you cant stop it, even when you come back the second time to watch it again. OH, and the SOCOM theme, are you kidding me? You can find that, hell better on any site you search on google...for free. Someone might even make the SAME EXACT ONE!.............SO YEAH POINTLESS! (on a side note I'm typing this with my PS3 keyboard and you cant do line breaks so...)
Fiddlesworth @ Jun 6th 2008 3:00PM
The only issue is stupid people that lack comprehension skills and cheap people that expect EVERYTHING that costs money to develop to be free.
I pick up a free Future publishing magazine every month from MY local newsagent..
Fiddlesworth @ Jun 6th 2008 3:04PM
Coming soon: home closed beta opens up to more people. Others whine that they have to wait longer.
Prince King @ Jun 6th 2008 3:19PM
"[Thanks, Mike!]"
hey "Mike" why didn't you tell us this before?!?!?!?!
Devin @ Jun 6th 2008 3:12PM
There has to be a mistake somewhere. Sony wouldn't make people actually paying wait Longer than people who aren't. I bet we'll hear something soon from Sony regarding this.
kenjix @ Jun 6th 2008 3:24PM
I just cancelled my IGN, Gamespot and EGM subscriptions and replaced it with Qore :)
JAH75157 @ Jun 6th 2008 3:27PM
well this is lame, it's the only reason i bought the damn thing.
PSN:FatalAssassin XBL:Fata7assassin @ Jun 6th 2008 7:12PM

Eggy @ Jun 7th 2008 4:31AM
It says when available!!!
Brian Spence @ Jun 6th 2008 3:28PM
Dude, sounds like a typo to me...
comedian @ Jun 6th 2008 3:31PM
Pre-Order game:Acess To beta.
Qore(didn't pre -order):Acess to beta(2 weeks after).
Don't Pre-Order or subscripe to Qore: No beta for you.
chuck @ Jun 6th 2008 3:34PM
YO I GOT THIS QORE SH#$ THAT RIGHT I SAID THAT I JUST PAY 27.71 FOR A 12 MONTH SUBSCRIBE AND GET CALLING ALL CARS FOR FREE MY ASS I THY TO DOWNLOAD IT SAID I HAD TO PAY 9.99 FOR CALLING ALL CARS THAT @@#$ I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!! P.S I WILL BE POSTING THIS ALL DAY OVER AND OVER
Daniel @ Jun 6th 2008 3:58PM
Did you click the Calling All Cars download link WITHIN Qore or did you go in the PS Store and try to download it that way? If you did the former, you have grounds to be upset. If you did the latter, die.
frankym @ Jun 6th 2008 4:12PM
Only reason I bought Qore was to get the beta. This better not be true.
RickyVeiga @ Jun 6th 2008 4:32PM
Once upon a time there where bunnies, pink flowers and pink sony...
Sony was very upset because they think that no one is dumb anymore, so they decide to do a test...
-"Why don't we created a pointless pink program and charge pink 25$ for it???This way we can see the pink ps3 owners that are dumb..."
And so it was create the QORE...a powerful pink bunny program that only gives you pink bunny crap...
And pink sony & pink dumb ps3 owners live dumbers ever after...
The pink end...
JaseH @ Jun 7th 2008 4:59AM
Bet you wish you should'a kept your mouth shut now, eh?
That's what I love about "UPDATE" notices on articles. You get to read stupid little imature comments like these BEFORE the truth comes out.
Guess what?... your 360 has three red bunnies waiting for you. Oh goody.

An interesting way to do premium content sort of a different take on premium services like Xbox live gold (at least in comparison to preferred downloads). I see them putting alot of premiums like beta's and demos in this new format. I just hope this doesn't put a major hamper on free demos but a paid service could help them pay for the bandwidth and lead to faster downloads. I hope the E-Mag side of it is good though I will buy it if it is probably just do a sampler issue before I plop down 25 bucks though.
NyghtcrawleR @ Jun 6th 2008 7:12PM
This info was available beforehand and they arent required to grant you access at the same time as others. Theres a closed beta that will be held to. Its all about different stages. People need to stop getting their panties in a bunch over this.
superpaul_82 @ Jun 7th 2008 12:36AM
... so I downloaded the "June Issue" to test this whole thing out. And it is basically an HD version of the ol' "PLAYSTATION UNDERGROUND" Demo Discs you used to be able to subscribe to, or buy with a magazine...
It had a bunch of videos (advertisements for games) that I could have just as easily seen on Youtube for FREEE! It also sported the HULK trailer in HD.. yay.. that was also FREEE IN HD almost ANYWHERE ONLINE!
I'm dissapointed to hear about the late beta BS too... whatever i guess. I don't plan on buying anymore of these shitty 1.5 gig commercials in the future.. not unless there is an actual benefit to the purchase...
I don't mind paying a few bucks to have access to a beta at all... a pre-order of socom would have been 5 dollars... and I could always refund the money much to the dissapointment of the gamestop employee whose "numbers" would take a hit that day.
actually.... thats probably what I'll do from now on.
b-way @ Jun 6th 2008 8:17PM
Honestly, it was worth the $2 for me just to see all that Force Unleashed gameplay footage.
frankym @ Jun 7th 2008 3:36AM
Can that explanation be any more convoluted?
r.crisp @ Jun 7th 2008 1:34PM
The only problem I have with people refering to this as an online magazine and therefore stating that it's worth the money, is that it doesn't contain as much as a decent gaming mag.I used to get the official PS mag alot before I got decent internet. And in addition to having a demo disc (Movies and playable demos), it had proper written articles. Often around 50 large pages of non ads.Compared to this Qore only appears to contain the demo disc. One thing I don't know as I don't understand the worth of the price in USD, is wether I would invest in it myself.
JAH75157 @ Jun 8th 2008 6:54PM
Qore as a whole is stupid. I finally got around to finishing the download, and yeah it was cool seeing some gameplay footage for socom, but seriously this isn't anything i haven't seen before, for free, on the internet. The application is riddled with adverts, WHY DO I NEED A BURGER KING COMMERCIAL??? especially for something I paid for. I saw somewhere else that they compared qore to tv. The psn as the syndicated channels, and qore as a premium network i.e. hbo, then why do i have commercials in something i pay for. I'm glad that I only bought the one episode, because now i know that i won't be buying it again.
mjc @ Jun 7th 2008 6:13PM
I JUST WANT A HOME BETA LATER IF QORE CAN PROVIDE IN THE FUTURE
DelSource @ Jun 7th 2008 8:29PM
I'd pay money to watch Veronica Belmont paint her lounge.
ThinkingOf @ Jun 8th 2008 11:14AM
taking into consideration this is a share-abled psn download, my share group decided to give it a try. we all split the cost, we all got calling all cars and we all got the "program". basically, my group each bought calling all cars and got a free year of qore. maybe some of you should consider creating a psn share group for things like this if you can't afford it on your own, or can't afford the $3 for the first issue. only forseeable problem was, which of us would get the socom beta, turns out, we all dislike socom. on that note, who wants our beta key?
ed @ Jun 9th 2008 9:33AM
Yeah well I just blew 2.99 on that and I'm bloody pissed. I wanted that Beta. WTF, I PAYED, give me it. That's the whole point of a beta it's free so developers can test it. it's not for our benefit. This is just plain crappy poolicy from Sony. They should have advertised it wasn't available straight away. I wouldn't have bought it, which i guess was the point, that's for F*&%ing me over sony... cheers.
CUNTS.
Michael Jennings-Offen @ Jun 10th 2008 2:05PM
I've got to say, this whole Qore thing is awful. I bought it (one issue) for the Socom beta and for obvious reasons, I'm deeply disappointed. It's truly disgraceful of Sony to sell us an advertising channel-- and the kicker, I tried watching their original content and it's absolutely pathetic. Maybe I only noticed this because I myself am a producer, but they didn't even light the f-ing shots well and the audio plain sucks.
Terrible content, misleading advertising, piss poor production values... Sony, Qore = FAIL!
I'm really pissed about this. I'm going to contact Sony and see if I can't get my three bucks back.
Josh @ Jun 22nd 2008 9:08PM
Where do i have to preorder it to get the public beta? At any local gamestop?
