Signed MGS4 Gunmetal bundle on sale at eBay
One truly dedicated Metal Gear fan stood in line to pick up Hideo Kojima's signature on his incredibly rare Gunmetal PS3 system. And now, he's putting it up on eBay. For $5,000. Hey, at least shipping is free?
There's nothing wrong with making a buck, but this kind of extraordinary price scalping is rather unacceptable. What's the most you would spend on this system?

Michael K. @ Jun 13th 2008 2:09PM
A guy a couple of people ahead of me got a gun metal ps3 signed, I wonder if its the same guy. I had the LE ps3 ordered on konami.com so I just picked up a copy of the game to get signed.
igotthatfire247 @ Jun 13th 2008 2:19PM
$5,000?
LOL ... He wasn't even smart enough to get Kojima to sign in Silver?
No thanks.
Marky264 @ Jun 13th 2008 2:10PM
i think £1000 final bid by people is a fair enough price but £2500! that stupid and ridulas and frankly i'd slap the guy for selling that amazing piece of PS3 :)
paul @ Jun 13th 2008 2:10PM
He shoulda gotten his wife signed then sold her on eBay. Make more money that way...
JerJerBinks @ Jun 13th 2008 8:27PM
Unlikely, you cant make much off of used hardware.
joncowman @ Jun 13th 2008 2:10PM
that guy took it to the extreme.. 5000$ screw that it aint worth it
Jay @ Jun 13th 2008 2:10PM
Or I might email him with my thoughts.........
Filmmakerfred@yahoo.com
joncowman @ Jun 13th 2008 2:10PM
no way 5000$ that is way too much for that
Darren Tilley @ Jun 13th 2008 2:11PM
"One truly dedicated Metal Gear fan..."
I really hope that was sarcastic, because it's pretty damn obvious he didn't do this to keep it for himself.
Andrew Yoon @ Jun 13th 2008 2:14PM
Yes it was.
Darren Tilley @ Jun 13th 2008 2:19PM
Phew, then all is right with the world.
Gaucho @ Jun 13th 2008 2:15PM
Alright I just went to the bank and I prepared to offer my life's saving and my testicles. Now someone teach me use the internets to purchase this this.
shooter_mcgavin @ Jun 13th 2008 2:15PM
i would pay maybe $1250 at most
but thats just me
Dan @ Jun 13th 2008 3:49PM
Obviously anything like this would get a premium back when sold in mint condition, but $5 grand??
I 'd say a ballpark figure of around $800 - $1,000 would be way more fitting. Five grand is just unfair at this current time.
20 years later when PS3 is almost forgotten.. yes, but not the next damn day....
wonway01 @ Jun 13th 2008 2:19PM
Not sure why anyone would be pissed at this guy. He isn't ripping anyone off. If you don't want it don't buy it. If you actually want it and its worth it to you persoanlly then that person isn't getting ripped off. Supply and demand, it rules the world.
Now if someone didnt want it and was forced or the item was mis repesented then it would be a rip off. Again, it might be worth it to someone so if he buys it of his own free will, nothing is wrong.
Kodros @ Jun 13th 2008 5:06PM
Because it's an asshole move.
bluem00se @ Jun 13th 2008 6:38PM
Exactly. I think this guy is smart for doing this; he saw an opportunity to make money, pulled through, and now he's jacked up the price because he knows someone will buy it. Nothing wrong with making some money. He's not deceiving anyone; if you're willing to pay a high price for a valuable collector's item, you'll get it. If you're not willing to do that, then don't bid on it.
Mike @ Jun 13th 2008 2:24PM
wait.. why is this unacceptable? i agree that the price is pretty crazy. but it's not like Sony/Konami is setting that price. it's some fan selling an autographed system on an auction site. the price will only be as high as someone is willing to pay for it. if nobody feels $5,000 is worth it for an autographed system, it won't sell. easy as that. hardly something to get your panties in a bunch about...
infekt @ Jun 13th 2008 2:23PM
I wouldn't sell the unit. I would seal it up in a glass cube and wait for it to appreciate. It'll be worth so much more 10 years down the line.
Teddy @ Jun 13th 2008 2:50PM
I just checked the Konami website and the limited edition gray PS3 MGS4 bundle is still available. It looks like there's not enough hardcore MGS4 fans in the US to sell the unit out like in Japan. Anyway, I got my PS3 MGS4 80GB bundle with a $100 gift card from wally world (I usually never purchase electronics there, but with that gift card it was the best deal going). I'll be setting it up tonight or tomorrow, Broker here I come !!!
dustandechoes91 @ Jun 13th 2008 3:23PM
damn that thing looks cool...even without the signatures.
black_vegeta @ Jun 13th 2008 3:27PM
I should just use a fake ebay account and bid and win it to piss this guy off, muahahahahaha!!
russell @ Jun 13th 2008 3:42PM
5k sounds reasonable to me. it's a collector's item and it's rare. i wouldn't pay for that, i don't care about collector's items, but some people do.
Richard Comegys @ Jun 13th 2008 7:11PM
To me, a signature has no meaning if I didn't get it myself. I mean, what is some ink compared to actually meeting the folks who signed it? I *might* consider paying $5,000 for the opportunity to meet Kojima, but definitely not for something he just scribbled his name on.
russell @ Jun 13th 2008 10:57PM
yeah man i agree, which is another reason i dont care about memorabilia, it's way cooler to meet the person than to get their autograph.
android @ Jun 13th 2008 4:05PM
maybe if this could play the mgs essential collection...
skech775 @ Jun 13th 2008 4:06PM
people pay a whole lot more for an autographed or record setting homerun 2 dollar baseball so whynot the $600 collectors item ps3? some of these comments stand correct, if u dont want it, dont buy it. 5Gs is a lot for a system but i think ppl are just resented and jealous of it more than other excuses.
baby sea tuna @ Jun 13th 2008 4:06PM
5 grand?! RAAAAAAAAGE!!
skech775 @ Jun 13th 2008 4:11PM
p.s you cant blame some for trying to make a buck but u can if they pretend to be a PS3fanboy.
Kirk @ Jun 13th 2008 4:16PM
Dude, I feel horrible actually thinking about selling mine. Here's my story.
I got a PS3 MGS4 Bundle at SoHo Best Buy for the Uniqlo signing and a copy of the Essential Collection. I know online, it said he would only sign one item, but there was a manager at Uniqlo that was very adamant about Kojima being able to sign anything, as long as we were one of the first 300. I was estatic to hear that and ran down the street to get the bundle and the collection, planning to sell the system online and keeping the collection to myself. That would be perfect. A poor college kid who needs to pay off a few credit cards can make a smart investment and get a keepsake.
She was wrong, and I was torn. I got the PS3 signed (duh). I told my dad about it, and he's a big gamer himself. He agreed to pay for the PS3, so long as we keep it in the family (we're fricken hardcore, ya).
God, yeah, I feel like I murdered a kitten because I actually thought about selling it. But I'm just saying, from my standpoint, you got bills to pay, so I would understand why someone would want to sell it (that money better go to a good cause...). I was just lucky I got a cool dad.
Kojima is god. I asked him for advice because I want to get into game design. He said "Play alot". -_-
mike @ Jun 15th 2008 10:12PM
sell it!
The G Fatha @ Jun 13th 2008 4:28PM
Yeah idk if I would call this guy a fan, I mean I'm going to cherish my Kojima and Yumi signatures for the rest of my life.
SimbaDogg @ Jun 13th 2008 4:29PM
this idiot should be shot...NO ONE is going to buy it for 5 grand, unless there some psycho hose beast out there thats stalking kojima...
even if there is a stalker...this idiot should still be shot
SimbaDogg @ Jun 15th 2008 8:30PM
i can't believe some idiot actually bid on it, its at 5501 right now
PlasmaSnake @ Jun 13th 2008 4:39PM
I'd spend maybe $700, if I had $700 to blow. I bet he sells it though.
Nash @ Jun 13th 2008 5:06PM
He's not trying to sell it to a regular person. He's trying to sell it to some rich jerkoff with enough money to wait for somebody to sit in line and get Kojima's sig on a sweet gunmetal PS3 so that they don't have to wait themselves. If I was a rich jerkoff I would buy it from him.
Just think, if it were a reasonable price, some poor fanboy would scrape together their last pennies to buy this thing and not be able to pay rent or get groceries or something. He's doing everyone a favor by charging a ridiculous amount of money for it.
icedemon @ Jun 13th 2008 4:48PM
That's alot of money to give to someone who have NO feedback and been a member since Nov 06. Like someone said before you can still get it at Konami website.
Back to MGS4
jitty @ Jun 13th 2008 6:07PM
Damn man, at least sell it when all the LE MGS4 PS3's are sold out...
deafwing @ Jun 15th 2008 1:40PM
hey, that's nothing compared tot he guy who got a bag of doritos signed on Thursday at Uniqlo. lol I wonder how much those are worth ... being that its eatable and all ... lmao .. fans never cease to amaze me.
mike @ Jun 28th 2008 2:09AM
i got my gun metal ps3 signed as well. i got the signature of KOJIMA and YUKI in San Francisco and DAVID HAYTER, KENICHIRO IMAIZUMI, RYAN PAYTON, KHARY PAYTON,PATRICK Zimmerman, KHARY PAYTON in Los Angeles. should I sell it to? What do you people think?
