We wantz ze database Lebowski!
Dehshizknight @ Jun 19th 2008 1:43PM
It's not just localization. Believe it or not, the approval laws in some countries over their are so strict and take way too long to get certified.
AnimaOnline @ Jun 19th 2008 8:08AM
SCEE strikes again!
I'm loving the missing Metal Gear Solid Database.
EU is buying far more PS3s than the US and yet we're getting nothing but the cold treatment from Sony.
Eggy @ Jun 19th 2008 8:19AM
Sigh this has been going on since the start. Although you shouldn't be complaining too much because this weeks update is pretty decent.
JerJerBinks @ Jun 19th 2008 10:08AM
Its all about localization my friend. EU localization takes longer due to the amount of languges. If english was the official language of the EU, you would see releases it at rougly the same time as the NA Store.
AnimaOnline @ Jun 19th 2008 10:12AM
Localization.. I know. I don't see what the UK has to suffer. On top of that why doesn't Sony just release content world wide?
There are so many SCEE users that are pissed at them. It can't be a good business tactic.
Christian @ Jun 19th 2008 2:04PM
Actually it seems to be a very good business tactic. Which is why Sony is doing so well in Europe. Remember that the mass market is not the same people who are fluent in English and are spending our days posting on these sites.
Imbro @ Jun 19th 2008 11:45AM
Enough about the localization. There are only a handfull countries receiving localized content. Personally I'm from norway, and only until the last years have we been offered any foreign game in norwegian at all. Heavenly sword is actually the only one I can think of. The same is correct for many other EU countries. Why not offer the same content as the in the us, and rather later on offer localized.
Anybody in better know than me who's actually getting localized content, please speak up. I believe it's only spain, france, italy and perhaps germany.
Dark Archon @ Jun 19th 2008 8:10AM
Well that's quite... rubbish. But that was to be expected. Oh well, I'll just get the database from the US store.
Popfrogs @ Jun 19th 2008 10:37AM
It may not work for you guys, at least when it comes to reading your game save file. The database from the Japanese store won't read US game saves so even if you have completed the game it'll block out spoilers.
Dark Archon @ Jun 19th 2008 10:46AM
Don't worry, I'll just download a 'completed' american save game off the Internetorz.
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 19th 2008 8:11AM
Have PS1 games stopped being ported or something? 2 four weeks ago, 1 3 weeks ago and this week and last week none? :S
Wtf is going on?
TpM @ Jun 19th 2008 8:52AM
Maybe games that are already ported dosen't sell very well and they think that oh well... PSOne ports dosen't sell in europa. Of course sell would much better if they start selling some good PSOne games...
Christian @ Jun 19th 2008 11:47AM
What is probably going on is that the few people who actually care about PS1 games realize they can buy them on disc for 50p at the local used game store instead of download them online. Thus its costs Sony more money to make them available on PSN than what revenue they derive from it.
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 19th 2008 11:57AM
Does that mean that Japanese care more about PS1 games? Seeing as they are getting tonnes of them, and us Europeans, zilch, nadda, nothing, nout, zero, nothing, empty.
ymmv @ Jun 19th 2008 3:04PM
Unfortunately the first Playstation wasn't very popular when it was released. Only a handful of games have been published and all of them are already available on the PSN. Sony would love to make more PSX titles available online, but there simply aren't any!!
Skunk Ape @ Jun 19th 2008 7:03PM
MAYBE.. just maybe if they released good games like... oh let's just say Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid or somethign along those lines, they might just sell some games.
Bearskopff @ Jun 19th 2008 8:49AM
*waits patiently foe MGS database on US store*
Not even bothering with the store atm. Recently it's been a bit pants. I'll rephrase that. It's usually pants but once in a blue moon something decent pops up.
I need to know wether or not the database will work with the UK game though. I will be gutted if it turns out it doesn't work correctly!
crazypenguin @ Jun 19th 2008 9:34AM
that is annoying, but just go get the stuff from the US store and that be it, if for some magical reason the US store doesn't have as good things as the EU store, then i'll have to go get one of those. also, i think the EU store is behind, and correct me if i'm mistaken, because of language issues?
Brodie-san @ Jun 19th 2008 10:04AM
Nope - the Japanese version actually has a few Euro languages available (see other post).
So it's just odd we didn't get it.
crazypenguin @ Jun 19th 2008 10:23AM
yes i noticed that, but still, there might be another language or two that are needed.
adolson @ Jun 19th 2008 9:45AM
Nice Xbox 360 screenshot. Heh.
Brodie-san @ Jun 19th 2008 10:03AM
Haha! Just noticed that now.
EPIC SHAME!
Popfrogs @ Jun 19th 2008 10:39AM
I would expect this from X3F douchebag Andrew Yoon, but not Jem Alexander. What is this world coming to?
;)
NeoRaiden @ Jun 19th 2008 12:56PM
Oh, grow up little f***ing kids.
Oh noooeesss! There's a 360 screenshot on my monitor!!!! NOOOOO!!!! That "A" should be an "X". Blasphemy! You guys sound like 8 year olds. Seriously, if anyone is the douche bag, it's you.
Even though the site is called ps3fanboy, the requirements for becoming a blogger here requires that you don't be an actual stereotypical fanboy. So GTFO, if you don't like it.
adolson @ Jun 19th 2008 2:09PM
NeoRaiden, take a Viagra and get laid, you stuck up son of a bitch. Nobody here is complaining or seriously bitching - it was an observation with some friendly jabs. If you can't take it, you can leave the site. Over-tense asshole that you are.
JaseH @ Jun 19th 2008 3:24PM
Dude, they were just being sarcastic. Chill.
We already know a screenshot from another platform means nothing, they're both practically the same.
Take a breath & clean the sand out of your vagina.

You're either really stupid or really naive. Do you really believe this only happened once? And to be clear, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to people who responded to your comment, mostly popfrogs. When he's calling people douchebags(Andrew Yoon) for no good reason, then yes, it is big deal.
Dude, you're on PS3fanboy, you've never been laid either. Stop pretending. lol
Brodie-san @ Jun 20th 2008 3:51AM
Well I, for one, was just kidding. I don't care if a 360 screenshot is up there. I don't care if a naked Bill Gates is up there.
Ok, I care about that. I don't want to see that.
adolson @ Jun 20th 2008 9:43AM
NeoRaiden, I am 26 and I've been married for 6 years... However, you just admitted that you have never been laid. I hope you're waiting for that special someone. I wouldn't wish anyone be shunned from the joys of sex, no matter how badly they overreact to an internet post.
Anyhow, for the record, Andrew himself has joked about being an X3F douchebag.. If you're a fan of the site, you should know that.
And even if you didn't know that, he did put a winking smilie face, which also should have been a sign that he was joking too.
NeoRaiden @ Jun 20th 2008 5:49PM
I'm 18, so your insults are flawed. Maybe if you got your head out of you ass, you would realize that I don't keep track who calls themselves a douchbag on internet blogs.
So let me get this straight. You're defending the assholes who post shit about people who are giving you news? And I'm at fault for defending an innocent blogger? Even if it was a joke, it wasn't funny. Whomever does think it was must be THE real douchebag.
top.slacker @ Jun 19th 2008 1:30PM
Come on guys, i'm the first one to blast SCEE for crappy updates but having a go at them for not including the MGS database is a bit much. From what I understand, this database is extremely text heavy and features a lot of information. Therefore it's going to be a bitch for SCEE to have to translate into like 20 different languages, it's going to take them a while unlike Japan and SCEA which only deal with one language.
aVirulence @ Jun 19th 2008 3:41PM
Can someone please tell me what category the Dark Sector demo is in? I can't seem to find it..
Chappas @ Jun 20th 2008 8:27AM
Lol @ 360 screenshot, funny, nay, hilarious; mindblowing stuff!
Updates are always rubbish for EU, ok if they have to translate it fine, but i don't know why we can't have the database in the UK. I live in England, the US version of the database is in English, anyone here guess what language the English people speak?
