Rumor: Italian mag says Dark Cloud 3 in development

If you're supposed to take rumors with "a grain of salt", this would probably require you to ingest so much salt you'll melt away like a slug. Not only does Italian magazine PSMania claim that Level 5 is working on White Knight Story in tandem with development on Dark Cloud 3, they claim it's being developed as a PlayStation 3 exclusive for release in March of 2009, using the new "Kumo Engine". While this is great news, we're skeptical Level 5 would be working on their new, ambitious IP while also hacking away at another beloved franchise. Take this how you want, but we hope it's got some truth to it. Dark Cloud is a pretty underrated franchise.

Sorry, but I would be the happiest boy in the world and would undergo an operation to also make me the happiest girl in the world. It appears I have you beat.

This game (Dark Cloud TWO Eric E.) was excellent. It was well on the side of cheesy, but between Georama, Speda, Fishing (Which you then BRED and RACED, thereby trumping Zeldas Fishing minigame), the awesome weapon system, fun combat with weapons ranging from revolvers to fish to pinwheels, the incrediby innovative invention system, and Steve, a fully customizable robot, not to mention the adventuring and dungeons themselves, made this one of the best games on the PS2. It was a blast and a third one in the vein of Eternal Sonata looks would be too much for my liittle sensory system to bear.

I want it so bad that I'm going to quit playing MGS4 and pick up Dark Cloud 2 now. THATS HOW FUN IT WAS.

That was my first game w/ my ps2 and i hated it. Got pretty stupid fast.

I only briefly owned a PS2, and never played the series. I was told it was similar to ActRaiser - is this true?

Dark Cloud 2 was one of my first PS2 games [Late Adopter]

Any game with randomly generator maps is instantly a step toward epic.

Ah, the sweet smell of good rumors. I hope this one turns out to be true. I enjoyed both the Dark Cloud games, as well as Rogue Galaxy. White Knight Chronicles is one that I've been very keen to see reach the light of day ever since I saw the first trailer.

Go, go Level 5!

Another RPG from L5 is always welcomed (I would perfer Rouge Galaxy 2, but DC is not a bad series in general).....but like someone said before, where is White Knight ffs....one step at a time dammit.

-This rumor is old, however:
-Sony owns the Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy IP's, so why even state that DC3 will be exclusive to PS3? "no duh"
-Level-5 have always commented on DC3 being something they really want to do, but need to clear their schedule first.
-Level-5 has also commented that it's likely RG2 will come before DC3.

Either way I hope they learn a lot about the PS3 through White Knight and put it to good use on RG2/DC3.

real fake guys. it’s a photoshopped scan… don’t u see the font is absloutely different? the truth is, the original news was about a boxing game for psp and not about a dark cloud 3 launch date. this guy covered the original with his stuff. if you want, i can give you a JPG of the original page featured in PSMANIA issue 71 as of februrary 2007, page 011. trust me and spread this upadte plz.
