Square Enix says Final Fantasy Versus XIII not 'on hold'
As Eurogamer points out, that statement wholly contradicts what Mr. Nomura had said in the latest issue of Famitsu when he told the publication that Versus XIII was "on hold" and that the "entire Versus team is helping to finish Final Fantasy XIII." Either way, whether Tetsuya Nomura was misinterpreted or perhaps revealed too much and had his words retracted, we're even more intrigued with the behind-the-scenes goings-on over at Square Enix HQ.
It seems there is more here than meets the eye. We'll be keeping a close watch on both titles, especially come August and October when the Square Enix party and Tokyo Game Show pop up respectively.

Good news so its not on "hold" more like cut the production production speed to half or better said 75% just to speed up the production of XIII team and then concentrate on Versus with both team working on Versus after XIII get the Gold status.

First comment. By the way, I like Versus better than the regulr one. It also seems a lot more dramatic than the rest. I'm counting on Square Enix to make a REALLY good FF game (hence the last few games). I'm looking forward to the new battle system and graphics.

So, Is this ever going to get a realese date ? ;)
Jerses @ Jun 19th 2008 1:28PM
dont know about you guys but even if they put on hold versus... its going to be delayed anyway :S
waliwali @ Jun 19th 2008 1:39PM
i'm guessing the released date is christmas 2009 for english version. (this is optimism already). i mean, as much i love FF (and the main reason i bought my ps3), Last Remnant is out this year with x360 in sept and ps3 march released (i wonder if the 'one year' time exclusive actually refers to the calender year rather than actual 12 months), there's no real reason to rush. that it self is revenue, and it's probably more or less the same demographics to be buying both these games. they wouldn't want to have slow sales due to player "saturation"... haha. it's ok, disgaea 3 will keep many of us occupied with it's 400+ hours of gameplay :P

I wonder how often devs over at Square Enix have free time to help on another project!
Popfrogs @ Jun 19th 2008 2:42PM
Yeah that set off my BS detector also. Saying that devs from one team help devs from another team in their spare time...when honestly neither team should have spare time until their respective projects are finished.

Sometimes you have to wait for assets to come from other people before doing more of your work.
Neo Senku @ Jun 19th 2008 2:46PM
i don't mind if these games get delayed cause in the end it is all worth it

What's with the screenshot of the quote from Hamlet?
But yea, I'm looking forward to FFXIII, but I'm not sure about VS. I'll give it a try and see. Is it more of a "real time" combat as opposed to turn-based?
mathab @ Jun 19th 2008 3:49PM
care to take a guess? :)
KilgoreTrout XL @ Jun 19th 2008 5:17PM
@ Nate the prophet:
I was wondering the same thing. What's the difference between the two games?
Dwag @ Jun 19th 2008 10:27PM
Alright I'm kinda of mad now I haven't heard any news on Rapture yet I was hoping Rapture was the Code name for Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII
I was hoping for
FFXIII RPG for PS3
FFVXIII Action RPG for PS3
FFHXIII MMORGP for PC/PS3/X360
This to me is bad news that means that they aren't going truly full on Dev for FFXIII I mean like the first post said have two teams working on 1 game would speed up dev alot but yet they want Nomura who already has like 10 games he's working on and plus unanounce ones work on this he might die.
Goity @ Jun 22nd 2008 5:54PM
I think this might be just speaking of how the Crystal Tools are used for both games, so they share resources this way?
