Next GamePro features Resistance 2, will give beta codes

When magazines compete, you win. EGM may have secured the exclusive cover story on Killzone 2, but GamePro has the details on the other big PS3 FPS game, Resistance 2. Insomiac's 60-player FPS promises a new epic story, and an almost mind-numbing amount of multiplayer functionality. GamePro isn't just content with providing a preview and tons of juicy hype text ("Better than Halo. Bigger than Call of Duty" is proudly featured on the cover). No, they're going to do much more than that. They're giving away free codes to the Resistance 2 beta. Not every issue will be a winner, but this is the first opportunity the general public will have at getting into the beta. We're sure other methods of entry will pop up (Qore, anyone?). But for those that cannot resist, the next issue of GamePro is one to look out for.

The cover is misleading. It says 'free ... beta codes' as though they are right inside the magazine. In actuality you have to enter their little contest. I would rather buy a Qore 'thing' for $2 and get in. Still, I am sure it will be a great read. I will have to go to Wal-mart and read it. ;p (It is like a library!)

Overrated? It hasn't come out yet. I don't pay attention to ratings until a game gets released and even then I usually play it and decide for myself.

Um, Halo, Halo 2, and good god, Halo 3 are all horrible games. There's 0 story, the gameplay is bleh, and Master Chief is a fag. Never liked Halo, nor will I ever. And I was a MSFB for the longest time...

It looks like not many people actually got to sit down and play the Halo games through to completion. The atmosphere drove those games like nothing else. I didn't care for the second one, but the first and third were pretty amazing.

Resistance was pretty average all around. I'm sorry if it sounds like fanboy grandstanding, but it's not. I own all three systems, and love them all, but the first was just too generic.

Killzone 2? Looking forward to that, but again, the original was terribly average and generic.

I'll be waiting for demos of both, and renting them at thevery least if they don't show any improvement.

What does that have to do with anything? A couple issues ago, there was an entire article of Gears of War 2, along with the front cover page.. Same with EGM. And GamePro is... meh.

I understand that you liked it, but the only upside of Halo was the controllers and the pace, other than that, specially the story, were rather generic and not worth it...and that is by almost every reviewer out there, and the best evidence of that is that they tried to make the story deeper by releasing novels, which in a sense did, but then Halo 2 and 3 showed that despite the best efforts, only the novels are the one with a somewhat solid storyline...

So yes, if you are one of those Halo fans that has read the story and then comes and tells me that it has a solid storyline, I ll agree, but if you have ONLY played the games and come and claim that it has a good story, then I ll just laugh

I doubt there will be a winning ticket in the magazine. More like a code you will have to use online to find out if it's a winner...

It is pretty big talk to say better than Halo. I am not a Halo fan but R2 hasn't come out yet. I loved the first one and can't wait for the sequel but let's hold off the hype talk...

R2 ain't better than Halo sorry but it will suffer from Killzone 1 syndrome and fail to beat Halo. A Halo killer won't come until Killzone 2 tries to avenge his older brother.

The entire Halo series was already surpassed after Halo 1 came out, when the gaming industry at large simply *moved on*. It's just sad how Xbots cannot, and thereby hail (O LOLZ PUN) Halo as 'the best shooter ever made'.

Halo:CE was one of the best shooters back then and probably still is.

If they remade Halo:CE and included multiplayer,more weapons and better graphics it would sell millions.

cooly. i dont typically buy game magazines anymore (i used to buy OPM for the PS2 demos, thankfully i dont need this since PS3) but i think i may pick this one up unless someone knows how i can read the article for free. and no im not going to open the mag at walmart to read it.....well maybe if its already opened.

Seeing as the 360's will suffer a game drought pretty much all year & the next (unless you love banjo kazooie & Halo Warzzz) - I would assume Gears 2 would sell more than R2.

After all, we will have OTHER games to shell out our money on.

But hey, whoknows. I'd like it if R2 sold a lot.

Yeah.. that huge RPG lineup on the 360 will def. show it has a game drought ;>.>.. Lets not forget Multi-platform titles.. Jeez. Do people think that the only games that exist are exclusives? Most of the multi-platformers do better than the exclusives themselves lol.

Give me at least one AA multiplat title coming this year. & Please don't bother with COD5, that stuff is moot.

Face it, if you bought your console to endulge yourself in 2 years worth of Multiplatform titles because you haven't got fuck else to look forward to, then that is your choice. But just remember how sad you've become once you bring yourself into that analogy.

Face, exclusive means everything. Its the games that really make use of the potential of your console.
