Rumor: God of War 3 to be shown at E3?

We are going to take this with a grain of salt, but the French website JeuxActu.com claims they have confirmation from Sony at IDEF (Interactive & Digital Entertainment Festival) over in Cannes that God of War 3 will make "an appearance in high-definition" at next month's E3. The site then speculates the chance of any sort of gameplay being shown is almost non-existent.

The first appearance of Kratos on the PS3 would be extremely exciting, even if it is just a teaser video. We'll find out when E3 rolls around next month!

I have a feeling they'll drag it out LBP/Home style. Announced this year for next summer, to be delayed to holiday season 09. I'm amazed at the GOW COO -to think it's only for a psp.

Sony cannot afford to drag out games anymore. They have lost BILLIONS by selling PS3 below cost. Only way to recoup the $ is bring out hot titles swiftly

Yeah i'm with you, I hope they put the time into this and don't rush it. I'd like to see it mid 09ish, plenty of time to really push the hardware and show PS3 can consistantly produce epic games

not to bash on the 360, but this year the ONLY big games they have coming are Gears of War 2 ( looks very awesome ) Fable 2 ( im a fan but Fable isn't what i would call "for everyone") i guess you could say Halo Wars, which just reeks of that let's milk this franchise as much as we can, yeah to me Halo Wars just looks nice, but it doesn't have the appeal that say Starcraft 2 will have :)

Also the New Banjo Kazooie looks cool, but other than that, 360 doesn't have a lot of "WOW i have to have that" So far we 've had our GT:Prologue/Metal Gear Solid 4//Motorstorm 2/Resistance 2..thats not even including Final Fantasy 13/Versus/Killzone 2/GT5...i can't wait..

I never played the original God of War games on the PS2, Are they similar to Heavenly Sword? Could anyone tell me what this series is famous for? How good are its graphics really? Is it better than MGS4?

The gameplay is similar to Heavenly Sword, but superior in every respect.
The series is very well known for it's quick time events and awesome boss fights.

GoW is known for it's over-the-top violence, amazing graphics (for the PS2 of course, but still it looks great on an HDTV), Greek storyline incorporating lots of mythological figures (I'm a fan of these), and just plain fun :)

Considering lots of comparisons between GoW and Heavenly Sword came out, and Heavenly Sword didn't get reviewed as favorably because people were expecting GoW, you can imagine how high this series set the bar.

It's simply not the same as MGS4. The only games MGS4 can really be compared to are MGS1-3 from the PS/PS2 era.

I have only played the demos of Heavenly Sword, I was pissed becuase it doesn't have a JUMP button!

Anyway, GOW has very fluid combat and superb combos. The graphics for the PS2 were amazing (but they were released towards the "end" of the previous generation. As for better than MGS4? Can't really compare the two. Story is great.

I've only played the demo of Heavenly Sword briefly, but they are very similar as far as gameplay is concerned. It's pretty much famous just because of how good it is -- it's one of the best action platformers I've ever played (comparable in quality to the Ratchet and Clank series). The graphics were probably some of the best that PS2 had seen. Better than MGS4? You can't really compare the two, they're amazing in their own respects.

It's very similar to HS, but with a whole lot more bad attitude and angst. This series is famous for it's setting and concept of brutality, they way the main character (Kratos) kills the opponents. This combination is also what makes this series so awesome. IMHO, the original was the best. It had the most variety in terms of content and levels. The second and the PSP versions are somewhat similar given some minor differences here and there. Re: your comparison to MGS...do you really think HS and MGS are alike? If no, then I can't see how you could say one is better or worse than the other. Very different games. Hope this helps.

Wow! Well the God of War series are like THEE playstation 2 games to have and there's a lot of great ps2 titles. They're a lot more "epic" than Heavenly Sword. Even tho Heavenly Sword is a next gen game (and a great one at that) It' was put down in comparison to the GoW series. They're both quite different actually. The graphics at the time when GoW and GoW2 came out, were great respectively. Now it MAY seem a little dateed. IMHO GoW 2 still looks great. The story, graphics, game play and gameplay are all top-notch. I even feel that the PSP version is the best PSP game i've played.

It'll probably be just a teaser to remind everyone to not count Sony out, wait a year we got something big coming.

But who knows? Could be coming out this year and be awesome. Just remember its Sony we're talking about. They like to overhype everything.

I suggest a wait and see if its awesome policy.

God of War is a good game, but it is overhyped. I couldn't see the appeal of it. And why is this exciting news? I read just yesterday that #2 didn't sell so well despite all the great reviews. Maybe I am wrong.

I don't mean anything negative about it btw. I do hope the franchise lives on, but yeah...between the PSP version and the sequel on the ps2, I would hope that Sony doesn't decide to do something stupid like axe it.

I really get sad when some labor of love that people (critics and fans alike) adore has its plugged pulled b/c of sales.

God of War II was full of so many bugs, pissed me off many times. Too Short too. But looked great (they probably rushed it out b/c of PS3) Both Great Games and i just started the PSP one. (awesome so far)
Heavenly Sword was also rushed. They wanted a GoW like title to draw a crowd, but didn't want to release a crap one to ruin the franchise.
My only concern is not much changes in the game (sometimes a good thing) but after a while you have to innovate a little bit, right? I may be shooting myself in the foot but the series could get old fast otherwise.
