InFAMOUS not due until 2009

It wasn't too long ago that we last heard about inFAMOUS. If you picked up the July issue of Game Informer, you would've been treated to a nice, long eleven-page feature getting you all skittish over the sandbox gameplay. However -- and quite a big one at that -- your enthusiasm for being infamous will have to wait. Sony says that this PS3 exclusive won't be available until 2009 for PAL territories. Keywords here are "PAL territories" which confirms European distribution and at the same time pretty much tells us a North American date should be somewhat similar. We might not be able to play the game until next year, but we're pretty sure we'll see more on this title come E3.

Aww, 2009!? If they need the time, then so be it, but I don't want them dragging their feet on it since so many other good titles are coming......this game looks sweet!

I think the PAL implies that it doesn't mean the same for NTSC. Otherwise they wouldn't have specified.
I do agree we'll see more shortly, but this may be a Holiday 08 release that evetually gets pushed back in 09.

This is BS....

I'm sick of all these games pushed back to 2009 (like Prototype). What most companies do when they can't hit a deadline is hire more people (developers) or work extra hours (Rockstar/GTA) and give them a month or two off when the game gets released. Sure, I want the game to be awesome but there seems to be no accountability.

What's upsetting is I have a particular type of game I like and they are few and far between. Im not big on war sims (Like MGS4, Bad Company, CoD, Killzone 2, Etc...) so that cuts about 90% of the games out. I'm a little more Action/Adventure oriented. The 2 I was looking forward to the most was Infamous &Prototype, both 2009. Indiana Jones was also pushed to 2009...

I've played and beaten GTA 4 twice, still fun to play but need something else. I guess Saints Row may be cool in Oct. Fallout 3 may be my type of game as well, need to see more...

TC i understand how you feel about accountability but I'd much rather dev's delay games than release them before they're finished. Would it be nice for them to hire more workers etc, yes, but it's not cost-efficient.
I'm not sure if you meant to praise Rockstar/GTA4 for making their programmers work extra hours but if I recall GTA4 was went through a long delayed going from fall/winter 07 to april 08.

Aside from not being cost efficient, it is also probably not a viable solution.

When a game is that late in developement, I doubt you can simply throw people into the mix without having to sacrifice the very same resources your trying to conserve by bringing the new bodies up to speed with what the team is doing.

Early on, this is very possible, but adding more people at a later stage is most assuredly not the answer.

I think you might like Mafia 2. (.....On second thought, I think that was delayed, as well.) You can still look forward to LBP and Heavy Rain. I think Far Cry 2 looks awesome.

LBP looks alright, but whats the plot of heavy rain? The trailer is some girl blabbing about dudes and how she's been wrong'ed.....

Also, thanks for all that replied, I guess I will have to become a zen master and wait until 09 to put some milage on my ps3.

Couldn't tell ya. I was kinda counting on Infamous, more than Heavy Rain. But, I do think there's good reason to get excited (considering what QD did with Indigo Prophecy). Just expect something different. 2009: Infamous, Killzone 2, GoW3, FFXIII, GT5, Twisted Metal, Socom 4, LA Noire, Mafia 2, RE5, Borderlands, The Agency, Deus Ex 3, Red Faction 3, a game a piece from Naughty Dog, Team Ico, and Insomniac, and Crysis, maybe (eventually).

I don't get how you just found out Infamous will come out in 2009 when in the Game Informer Magazine it said Infamous was a 2009 game. It also says Spring so it should be early in the year.

I think that company's today arent able to take the hit of big titles getting bad reviews for being rushed out the door. This might be a make or break title for sucker punch. Since its exclusive to our system why not wait a little longer to let them get it right and release it when they can profit from it. Then maybe they can afford to work on some psn titles on the side.

This game sounds boring and yes I have the game informer issue and this gane just sounds wack. I'm sure it will 8.0 or maybe a 9.0 from magazines but I never trust them cause they always forget to inform us about the bad things in the game and highlight only the good making it seem as if they were paid to do so just to keep that developer to give them inside news on there upcoming things and first looks.

Oh yeah and only FFXIII is a true GOTY contender Killzone 2 and this are just games for PS3.

You may be right. I am seriously thinking getting rid of my PS3 for a 360 cus Gear 2 looks insane.

and I am a ps3 fanboy and I love it to death but I am sick of waiting around.

Sounds like you jump back and forth from both camps depending on your mood. Here's a novel idea: BUY a 360 and have more games to play!

Personally I can not see the merit in complaining when games get delayed. It's not like *4* games are released per year and we're all sitting around watching the walls WAITING for the next nugget to drop.

Most people I know (and myself included) have a large backlog of games to play. Games getting delayed have no effect on most people other than maybe causing some minor disappointment that they're not going to play the game as soon as they expected. Most people just play something else until the game in question is released. No big deal.

And for the record: no fanboy worth his salt would EVER say they're going to sell their console and switch to a competitor. That's a contradiction right there. If you consider yourself a PS3fanboy then jump on board and come in for the big win. Being capricious and snappy whenever a game's release date gets pushed out suggests you're not a fanboy; you're just someone who likes a soundbite and throws their rattle from the pram whenever they don't get what they want and EXACTLY when they want it.

Don't get rid of the PS3 cause you'll regret it later when FFXIII comes out and you have no system to play it on if it stays exclusive to PS3 now if you have a Wii sell it cause you'll get twice as much money you paid for it and you could buy another 1 of the net anytime how do you think I got my PS3 sure it cant play PS2 games but i have a Ps2 and I haven't played one in months.

thats wyhy I got my 360 first cause I knew down the line and from all the news that i'm gonna want one so i bought it and got Gears and such for it but if i had bought the PS3 first i would have only gotten resistance and after that i would have been screwed sorry but to me 07s PS3 line was a joke uncharted to me just looks dumb when I could have bought

PROTOTYPE to me is more worth a buy I mean the whole story seems dumb and his ability is wack wow electricity I mean if i wanted to play a thing where choices mattered so much I would playing an MMO
