More potential gamer profile pages revealed
Click for higher resolution
Our sources have got back to us with a couple more images today. These images show off the third page of the user profiles (seen above) which contain some basic information on the player. Much like the "profiles" we have right now, this includes an "about me" section and a list of the languages that you can speak. A second image, that we've placed after the break, shows what you you will see when you first look at someone else's profile.
From here you can see (presumably) when you last played against them, what game it was in and some extra information of some kind. That's all a bit vague at the moment. Buttons underneath the gamer card allow you to interact with that player by adding them as a friend, sending them a message, blocking them or comparing trophies against them. Our source says that comparing trophies currently doesn't work, so that could be the cause of the firmware's delay.
Again, we stress that these are unconfirmed screenshots and, as such, could turn out to be fake. We believe enough in what we see (and hear) to put these up for your consideration. Check out the second image after the jump.

Sure did take them a long time to get such a simple thing going. I wonder if they will copy Nintendo next and try and make mii's?
evilfoxhound @ Jun 25th 2008 2:18PM
Well Microsoft are so I guess Sony will too.
Gunegune @ Jun 25th 2008 3:11PM
I assume you're referring to Home avatars? To be fair Sony (or at least Kutaragi) was planning Home long before the release of Mii's (2006) or Second Life (2003).
In the Aprill 2002 Issue of "Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine" (Issue 55) there is an article on page 34 titled "Kutaragi Hints at the Future". A small part in the third column that states:
"[Kutaragi] goes on to mention that with the PS3, people will be able to have their own space in a virtual city. "You can live there," he comments. And when will it start? "We're thinking from about the year 2005.""
Dehshizknight @ Jun 25th 2008 3:08PM
If that's what you're gonna call Home...
Bearskopff @ Jun 25th 2008 2:19PM
I'm going with fake. That new image has four tabs and the others have three.
Besides. After all the effort that has gone into the look of the PSstore and XMB to make it look more appealing, bringing these ugly cards out wouldn't look right with the rest of the stuff.
This is better:

You have to scroll down to my second post but at least you get the idea.
browntown @ Jun 25th 2008 2:30PM
Ya i noticed that too. And im pretty sure it just didn't magically update itself. this better not be some photoshop shit.
browntown @ Jun 25th 2008 2:35PM
Ya these same fake, cuz y is there an icon that look like the add a friend one there when that guy is probably already on ur friends list?
Eggy @ Jun 25th 2008 7:01PM
The font is way too small. Nice idea but only works on a computer screen where you sit within a meter of the screen.
dewmandew7 @ Jun 25th 2008 2:26PM
I'm going with almost definitely fake. These images came out after last week's "Podcast Beyond" from IGN. In that podcast, they were doing speculation and came up with this exact idea (bronze, silver, gold, and platinum). Fake.
Tim Parsons @ Jun 25th 2008 2:32PM
they look like they could be the real deal, guess we'll find out soon
Nick @ Jun 25th 2008 2:34PM
This looks like a replacement for the Friends section of the XMB. While it's certainly better than the current set-up, I think it's still a bit dull and boring.
I am in the "fake crowd" on this one. Not so much that it's not very credible, but I'm not too excited about the way it looks and I think Sony would do a much flashier and better job of trophy implementation. As I said before, however, I prefer this over what we currently have.
Rodrigo @ Jun 25th 2008 2:35PM
just bring in game xmb already!!!
Riley Freeman @ Jun 25th 2008 2:39PM
i bet sony themselves are leaking these things to get feedback. cuz its like a leak per minute lately
TriFF51 @ Jun 25th 2008 4:29PM
I hope not...will all these complainers 2.40 will be delayed another 3 months
Dwag @ Jun 25th 2008 8:55PM
Same with that Gears2 beta vid I think they are doing it to hype up the XMB but its not really working seems like they get more complaints and I doubt they'll address them that quickly looks like we'll have to wait for 2.5.
Jeremy @ Jun 25th 2008 3:02PM
This looks really lame. I hope this trohpy screen crap isn't real because I know that Sony could give us something better looking than this crap
tretle @ Jun 25th 2008 4:56PM
I don't see what is so bad about it, it looks a hell of a lot better than the xbox 360 gamer cards. The only thing which could use some improvement is the trophy icons.
This is not a replacement for your friends list, It is not how you view your trophys. Its a replacement for the psn profile. You know that useless thing we have right now. This would make it a hell of a lot better. Maybe you will be able to see profiles of people in the recently played section of the friends list profiles. That would be handy. So much crying people who will cry about not having this feature and then cry when they get it. It makes me sad. If Sony are leaking these pics to get feedback before releasing any official details I hope they don't read half of this crap. Or would all of you prefer the shitty profiles we have now?
Daniel @ Jun 25th 2008 6:37PM
Fully agreed. Well said. You people complain so much over FREE stuff that SONY DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOU! Get over it babies.
My only complaint is they are a LITTLE plain but no big deal. Otherwise, any positive changes/additions to the PSN are welcome!
Groundskeeper Willie @ Jun 25th 2008 5:12PM
These are real. The first one is looking at your own "gamercard", the bottom one is looking at someone else's. That's why the bottom one has an extra page.
Ash @ Jun 25th 2008 5:21PM
things are looking good so far.
tretle @ Jun 25th 2008 5:51PM
How do you change your avatar here?
MexicanTerrorist @ Jun 25th 2008 6:29PM
Holy crap the bottom one uses my avatar!
maxpontiac @ Jun 25th 2008 7:24PM
Whether they are "fake" or not, it sure gets my imagination going on what could be on the horizon for us PS3 players.
Hurry up already!
tretle @ Jun 25th 2008 9:17PM
Could we see a video demonstration of this like we did for 2.40 . And is this coming from the same source that gave everyone the heads up about 2.40?
JaseH @ Jun 25th 2008 9:46PM
Here's the heads up PS3 Fanboys & Fangirls.
Keep nitpicking & complaining, & it'll only get delayed even more.
That's right... just keep complaining. But don't mention I didn't tell you so.

I'm not worrying anymore cause I realized Filmwares will improve everything.
greekdude247 @ Jun 26th 2008 12:49AM
I really hope they are fake because these look unatttractive. It just really bothers me for some reason.
Brad @ Jun 26th 2008 3:14AM
Obviously I don't know any more than everyone else commenting here (i.e. we know NOTHING).
BUT, I would not be suprised with the somewhat plain, straightforward gamer cards.
Remember that if these are supposed to be accessible through in-game XMB, it's highly probably that memory usage is going to be extremely limited. Meaning there likely won't be a lot of room for lots of glossy graphics, etc. Plain and simple equals minimal memory use.
That would be my expectation, anyway....
skin.bintin @ Jun 26th 2008 7:29AM
Your kidding me right? Those things are hideous... Seriously Sony, I'm sure you guys can do better than that!
Phil @ Jun 26th 2008 11:33AM
