Prepare for the 'second coming' in Saints Row 2
Despite what the previous trailer might tell you, Saints Row 2 isn't all fun and games. In this trailer titled Saints Gang, the focus is on the story. After being in a coma, the unnamed protagonist breaks out of jail with the help of another inmate, and promptly rescues Johnny Gat, the Chinese-American lieutenant of the Saints gang, from the brink of the electric chair. Our main character then learns another gang called the Brotherhood has taken over in Stilwater and he is determined to gather forces to return for a "second coming." Featuring katana swords, strippers, a S.W.A.T. team and a gun-to-the-head confrontation with former Saints leader Julius Little, this looks to be as grand a saga as a certain other sandbox game. Despite a previously confirmed release date of almost two months earlier, look for Saints Row 2 instead on October 14th.

In my book Saints Row was always better than GTA, and now with this it looks to be even crazier. GTA started moving towards the "realism" (meaning brown-infused worlds devoid of color and/or fun) but Saints Row always stayed crazy. Where else can you spray people with a high-powered jet of shit?

Wouldn't it be the second coming of saint's row?

This game looks stupid

I had fun with the first. It was like a slightly upgraded version of San Andreas which was NOT a bad thing.
I played through GTAIV and missed the California Gangster lifestyle from San Andreas and Saint's Row.
This game looks like something I will buy.

Looks like a very predictable story. Wake up, find everything has changed, try to restore the old way, find a betrayal of some kind, kill betrayer, end.
And @ the voice actor of the main character: EUGH. Might as well have left him with no voice at all. Hes like a chris rock in a white body.

Comparing Saints Row and GTA is like comparing a Cadillac and Ferrari. Both are fun to drive but you will always prefer the Ferrari. (Which in case you can't figure it out is representative of GTA in this simile.) That being said Saints Row was a very enjoyable title and this trailer makes me look forward to this game much more than the 'spraying people with shit' trailer which made the game look not that fun at all.
I should just be 100% in GTA when this comes out so it will be nice timing.

This game looks awesome.
And can somebody explain why can't we compare GTA to Saints Row?
Everybody compares Fifa to PES, even though ones arcade the others realistic.
So why can't we Judge GTA and SR as one to realism compared one thats crazy?
I can compare Worms: Armageddon to Metal gear Solid 4 if i wanted to, but then i would just look immature.
madcrabs @ Jun 27th 2008 9:57PM
It's good to see Carl "CJ" Johnson out of retirement. My only question is why did they use the same plot line again?
chrisnick @ Jun 27th 2008 10:29PM
so new storyline....same concept...bang bang i need my street corner back....sigh...ok...i too will try...would have liked to have seen an entirely different game than the first tho....just seems like they're gonna have the same concept (gangsters killing gangsters) and just add more crap....but a little bit less than san andreas........oh by the way.....paul ur missing a chromosome.

Looks cool. Didn't really play the first one, watched someone else play it though. I will probably buy it, and will probably enjoy it more than GTA4.

Wow, it really looks like a total rip-off of SA. SA 2? Oh wait no, because the graphics really suck. I think even GTA3 had better graphics than this, and if you added ENB Series, it will totally pwn SR2s graphics in every way. This is no where in comparison with GTA SA, and almost all of those were do-able in SA. And it hardly looks any fun. And throwing people at the train will really suck with rag-doll. When I looked at that other trailer with that throwing someone in the train sh*t, it looked awful because of the rag-doll it had, doesn't even look fun at all. You could spray crap? Already doable in SA, except with paint spray. How about car surfing? do-able since GTA3, and it just goes on. Also, those people who usually hate IV are just too spoiled of how cartoonish SA was. I mean, no one is able to turn so sharp going at 150mph, it ain't even fun nor funny, yet they complain like "oh, driving really sucks and sh*t", which are usually those 12 yr olds who don't know how to drive. And SR is no where crazy as SA, and never will be. GTA4 is about realism, realism also has fun, you just have to be creative enough, and as always, multiplayer.
You can't really compare GTA with SR, you just really can't.
