Madden 09 goes gold, here's a handful of new screens
A fresh batch of Madden NFL 09 PS3 screenshots are here from us to you. The famous virtual football franchise will get another annual update when this Madden-baby hits the PS3, PSP, and other platforms this August 12. The game has now gone gold, which means there's nothing going to stop this gridiron game from sacking retailers.
The Madden series has been around for 20 years. Can you believe it? That's one game, every year, for the past 20 years. Whether you like sports based games or not, you have to admit that's some impressive stats right there. So, in addition to our PS3 shots of Madden NFL 09, we've also got a gallery of every past Madden cover (obviously including non-PlayStation ones). If you're a football fan, make sure you scan through both galleries.

LOL @ the First Madden Cover. And I'm torn between getting Madden or NCAA Football this year. I dont want to get both. What do you guys think?

ZZZZZZZ...yay the same Madden game since 1999!
GridloQ @ Jun 30th 2008 11:20PM
Does anyone know if this will be 60 frames per second like NCAA 09? I sure hope so.
frankym @ Jul 1st 2008 12:44AM
yes. 60 fps confirmed for PS3!!.
Check out the Gamespot preview of Madden 09

I do believe it will be 60fps too. Seems like EA is trying really hard on making the Playstation 3 fans happy since we all felt the shaft from them last year. They are using the PS3 for their live onsite demos. I for one will wait one more year to see if they can make the grass look more realistic, instead of a flat graphic.

The one thing preventing you from getting the game is the grass? I can think of at least a dozen other valid reasons, but grass? seriously?
I'll pick it up, since i still play the ps2 version of 08.

The NFL doesn't even use real grass in a lot of real life games, why should Madden? LOL.

I failed to mention the game I was referring to was NCAA. I never play Madden anymore. By the way, I never said grass was the ONLY reason I'm not going to buy this years crop from EA. I usually wait ever other year to see a big enough difference to warrant the money.

Will it implement the trophy system? Please say yes.
Trapper @ Jul 1st 2008 9:17AM
Awesome, but does it have a trophy system?
Mo @ Jul 1st 2008 10:36AM
wOw looks great! I cant wait, esp at 60fps
oh wait... i didnt really play 08 all that much, even though I bought it at midnight
maxpontiac @ Jul 1st 2008 11:59AM
Sweet. This Madden looks like a keeper.
Throw in the trophies, say hello to my first Platinum trophy!!
RavenPaul @ Jul 1st 2008 2:24PM
I will get this because I don't have Madden yet for my PS3. But these "screen-shots" they show are always the cut scenes. I'd rather see what the game actually looks like. After the first few weeks I'm going to be pushing "X" anyway to go past all these scenes.

Why do I see Jaggies in those hi-rez pics? Is that in the actual game, or just in these pics?
