Atlus and NIS America partner up for US release of Disgaea 3
Atlus and NIS America have become bosom buddies over the years, especially after the release of the original Disgaea on PS2. NIS America will not be distributing the title in the US. Rather, specialty publisher Atlus will be taking over that role. It appears that NIS America will simply offer the localization for Disgaea 3.
Many know that Atlus games have a tendancy to become quite rare on retail shelves. This should be no different when Disgaea 3 launhces exclusively on PS3 on August 26th. "We are honored to continue working closely with NIS America and provide wide distribution in North America for these three great RPGs," said Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Atlus.
"Over the years, we have built a strong relationship with Atlus," said Harusato Akenaga, President of NIS America. "We have worked together on a number of great titles in the past and we are thrilled to partner once again to release Disgaea 3, Disgaea DS, and Rhapsody later this year. Please look forward to some of the most hardcore games to be released for PLAYSTATION 3 and Nintendo DS!"

What are the chances of this ever coming out in Europe?
-Jad- @ Jul 1st 2008 11:51AM
I'm not so sure... but u can always import the US version.
Popfrogs @ Jul 1st 2008 12:19PM
@Jad: before anyone else has a chance to say it: BUT IF I IMPORT WHAT ABOUT DLC OH NOES!
-Jad- @ Jul 1st 2008 12:24PM
U can also import a PSN US Card when comes available on the states or import site stores on the Internet... just as the Japanese ones are available to import it.

This is true, with the network cards coming out importing is looking a little bit more appealing.
companies that stagger release of patches *coughcoughinfinitywardcough* do a great job of breaking multiplayer with friends. I spent $75 importing COD4 on release only to spend another $100 buying an aussie version a few months later when they kept releasing patches for the US version before the rest of the world.
I used to be all for importing, now I spend that extra $40-50 to buy domestic.

Is August 26th the u.s. release date?
-Jad- @ Jul 1st 2008 11:53AM
Based on gamestop release date yes!. NISA as far I concerned haven't announce a date yet except that the game will come on August.

Oh and I wanted to ask...I'm a big fan of tactics games (FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc.). Will I like this game? What should I play before I buy this to see if I will like it?
Nick @ Jul 1st 2008 12:52PM
yes

Day one purchase for me. Then again pretty much anything Atlus puts out is a dayone purchase for me. What can I say? I loooove me some JRPG goodness!
Popfrogs @ Jul 1st 2008 2:26PM
Ever play Hoshigami? Easily one of the worst games I've ever played in my whole life. I can't even ebay it it's so bad.
Then again it's just one game out of dozens of great games that Atlus has done or released.
Devil240Z @ Jul 1st 2008 5:57PM
yay Im totally excited for this game!
