FIFA Soccer 09 for PS3 will have exclusive game mode

An interview over at Gamespot with FIFA Soccer 09 producer David Rutter has revealed new information about the upcoming sports game. 30 leagues and 40 national teams are at your disposal this year, while the magic number of 250 key changes as reported before remain true. Highlights of upgrades from the previous year include improvements in "responsiveness, physical play and their affect through attributes, plus the AI." Different types of players are less homogeneous and you will have to utilize different types of players to achieve victory.
A Custom Team Tactics mode will be introduced where 11 sliders or criteria will allow you to determine how your team will play. There is also a promise of 140 attacking and 40 defensive options. The ever-popular Be A Pro career mode will allow you to play unlocked, meaning one has the option of a change of position and still gain experience. Friends can likewise choose to act as a teammate or opponent to the player in this mode. Lastly, Rutter promises a to talk about "a game mode exclusive to that system," referring to the PS3, later in the year. We'll keep you updated as details of the mode becomes available.

Considering they put in the Australian league and if I remember correctly also the Austrian league I really hope they put in the Argentinean league. It's embarrassing how underrated FIFA games have always made south american league teams.

Not wanting to sound like a fanboy... but that's what this site's about so...! I really hope you are right TekTro, it's been a long time coming. Damn the 360 holding back the PS3 and it's power (and performance)!
Ves @ Jul 1st 2008 8:07AM

Fifa IS massive in EU
Gaucho @ Jul 1st 2008 12:04PM
PES is bigger than FIFA in EU though. And for good reason.

I really hope they fixed this game. I always say I'm going to wait for PES (though last years was beyond terrible(except the ps2&psp versions)) but I end up buying FIFA as if I expect major fixes like fixing the speed issue or the sluggish movements. PES2008 (PSP&PS2) best futbol/soccer game ever.
Sorry for the double post. really excited for this and PES09

I own both games (fifa 08 and pes08).... on the ps3 ... and everybody is right about pes08 getting slow sometimes... but when you turn off commentators .. it helps a lot.. and becomes playable just like the old versions.... (online version still sucks)
I don't play fifa anymore..... just pes... but is not to the same level as fifa.... is hard for me to say this... but fifa 08 is better than pes 08 as far as graphics and speed..

I think you will find that fifa is alot bigger than pes in europe, not the other way round. Its a shame that so many people have xbox's (including me aswell as a ps3) so not many people will be able to enjoy this exclusive content, but LOL at them, because us ps3 people will be, for once. When i pre-order this game, it will be for the ps3, even without the extra stuff. Waheyy!

i think that fifa 09 will be more better than 08 beacuse 08 i don't like it sucks but fifa 09 i saw the Trailer it is so sick but i will buy it for my ps3 so but the problem is beacuse in usa it will come out at 10/11/09 so i will wait but i can't even wait to buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!

They need to add so much more to the PS3 game. The 360 IS NOT the same as the PS3 but EA treats it like it is. There were several stadiums and teams in 08 for PS2 that weren't on PS3 only because a 360 DVD can't handle both expanded content AND enhanced graphics. The PSP, DS, Wii, and PS2 versions of this game are all unique, but the 360 and PS3 are the same. GOD I HATE MICROSOFT!! Thanks for ruining 3 years of sports games 360!
