Make a Wish Foundation PS3 stolen from disabled boy

Back in March we reported on an extremely unfortunate incident of a boy stricken with cancer who had his PSP stolen. Now we have a story to rival that, but with a PS3. Zak Touilii, an 14-year old Australian boy confined to a wheelchair by the life-threatening illness duchenne muscular dystrophy, had his PS3 stolen when thieves burglarized his home.
Worse yet, the PS3 and games Touilii owned were granted to him by the Make-a-Wish Foundation. But that's not even all, as Touilii was also scheduled this week to meet his favorite rugby team, the Melbourne Storm. Instead, he had to stay home because of a broken wheelchair.
Let's hope these thieves have a heart and return Touilii's PS3, especially if after they read about this. And let's all hope Zak has a much, much better next week.

F***ing a**holes. How low do you have to be to steal, let alone from someone who is disabled.
I would gladly donate money to help get Zak a new PS3.
Vincent @ Jul 1st 2008 11:10PM
Damn man, that's harsh :'( I wish the boy better days from now on, stay strong mate!
Kevin @ Jul 1st 2008 9:10PM
Well I was recently burglarized as well and I know how it feels.
Thankfully my PS3 wasn't stolen. WTF?
But to steal from someone who is disabled to a wheelchair.
These dudes should be caught, beaten, and spat on, then thrown in a pit.
Paul (PSN: heypaul) @ Jul 1st 2008 9:42PM
I'm pretty sure the burglers robbed the place because it looked wealthy, not because they wanted to pick on a kid in a wheelchair. I mean, I doubt they were thinking "Hey, let's go break into that cripple's house! It'll be awesome!" I think it was more like "Well, we already broke in here, we're not going to leave empty-handed just because we see a wheelchair in the corner." And that's some serious wishful thinking for the kid's PS3 to be returned. "Actually guys, now I feel really bad about this. Let's go return the PS3, and while we're at it, spend a couple years in jail!"
anthonyjh @ Jul 1st 2008 10:10PM
Are you seriously trying to rationalize this?
DC @ Jul 1st 2008 10:54PM
i see what you mean paul. it is disgusting what these people did, but i think they were just robbing the house because they wanted to rob a house, not to hurt a handicapped person. as for MD is is a terrible disease, i have lost many relatives to it. stealing is in general... wrong... that is what i thought you were trying to say.
Paul (PSN: heypaul) @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:22AM
Right, DC. Didn't mean to come off like a dick, if I did. They wanted to rob a place, and that's wrong. But it's not doubly wrong or doubly evil because they did it to a handicapped person; it's just unfortunate.
anthonyjh @ Jul 1st 2008 9:12PM
Wow. This is the kind of thing that makes me want to believe in a God. Biblical cleansing and all that...
Dahk @ Jul 1st 2008 9:19PM
Man, PS3F, you guys should start some small sonation thing. Set up a temporary account, have a PayPal thing set up and I bet a bunch of us would gladly help donate a new PS3 to the kid. The poor dood's gotta have his fun someway =(.
Dan @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:25AM
Thats a good idea, I would definitely donate at least $25 to that cause if joystiq/ps3fanboy set it up.
Da @ Jul 1st 2008 9:21PM
Someone should give him tickets and fly him up for Origin 3
bronz @ Jul 1st 2008 9:47PM
man.....some people just need a foot in their butts.
sorry to hear that happened to the little guy.....
@seminole-i would gladly donate as well. nothing wrong with helping someone in need every now and then
Thiago @ Jul 1st 2008 9:52PM
I Think Sony could give a ps3 for the boy! This will be good for the boy and for sony ;)
lorddshadow @ Jul 1st 2008 9:59PM
hell yeah! whoever did this is just horrible and if he/she doesn't feel bad when he/she reads about it, then that person just deserves to have his/her body parts ripped out one by one just as an appetizer. but that donation idea is great.
ShayDude @ Jul 1st 2008 10:16PM
Wow. Those are some bi**hes. I don't think they knew about the boy being disabled, but still! Damn, he must already be going through a hard life, even trying to stay alive. Not being able to see a rugby star, and then losing his PS3 that was from a MAKE A WISH foundation. Now that is just cruel torture to the boy. At least he is 14 years old and won't feel extremely bad. I would help pay for a new PS3 for him if this site allowed. Hope he gets another one.
FREDDY PAULINO @ Jul 1st 2008 10:18PM
FREAKING JERKS! some people don't have a soul shame on
them.
Riley Freeman @ Jul 1st 2008 10:29PM
well before anyone goes on any rants. the story never states whether the thieves knew the person was disabled or not. i am not defending anyone but a lot of you are jumping to conclusions. and now that this is in the press sony will probably walk right in and get some good pr by giving him a new one with a new wheelchair
Victor @ Jul 1st 2008 10:37PM
I would also like to donate for the kid
Aaron @ Jul 1st 2008 11:14PM
Sucks!!!! I'll donate with Seminole to get a new one for him. Maybe PS3 Fanboy can organize a donation drive to get a new PS3 and a game or two?
Greg @ Jul 1st 2008 11:39PM
For these poor kids with uncurable diseases, life is very hard, and stealing their source of joy is a terrible crime !!!
The only one punishment for these thieves: Castration by chain saw !!!
J-San @ Jul 2nd 2008 9:54AM
Hmm, not sure if the burglars ruined the weelchair? (wasn't pointed out if the wheelchair was destroyed during the burglary, or if it was a seperate case) That's one way of clarifying whether they were intentionally robbing a handicapped person or not.
Regardless, they are scum.
fd @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:09PM
This might sound like a far-fethed idea and I'm not even sure if this is possible. But I was thinking that maybe PSN keeps logs of people's IPs when they log in with their account. This way Sony could maybe even pin point the exact location of the stolen PS3 (with the assistance of a local ISP) when they tried to log in with Zak's account. That might give the cops a nice lead for where to look for these scum bags. In theory this should be possible, but in reality i think this might never happen.
FD @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:27PM
A cyber cop would be easily able to track down these bastards or get a good lead on where the machine is. I don't know if the PSN keeps logs of users IP numbers when they log into their accounts or even the PS3's unique MAC numbers. But that way the logs would show their IP if they attempted to go online with Zak's account of even the machine's MAC number. With the help of the local ISP they could then find out the person's address that logged in with that stolen console and hunt him down.
kentuckyfried @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:45PM
Please post a donation link as an update on this website.
Getting something stolen like that, no matter what person you are, feels like a violation.
Alex @ Jul 4th 2008 9:58PM
Too bad he didn't have a 360. The crooks wouldn't have bothered stealing it.
But in all seriouslness, I hope that boy gets compensation for what happened.
