Deal of the Day: Assassin's Creed for $30 at Circuit City online
Those of who were hesitating about Assassin's Creed may want to take a plunge with this deal, which takes 50% off the retail price of the game and includes free shipping. A look around shows the PS3 version of the game is still retailing for around $60 at online retailers. Save your money. the game isn't that great. Plus you can get it for like 19 bucks on Gamefly. I'm never buying older games at stores anymore when i can get it on gamefly way cheaper plus rent games that are new.
YinzJagz (PSN: YinzJagz) @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:54AM
Dr.dre are the games that you buy from gamefly in good condition? I have been hesitant to buy anything.
bayn @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:16AM
I may have to jump on this, its worth 30 bucks right?!
Ozzie @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:16AM
BTW, you can get it on ebay for around $20-25 shipped if you try.
jeff @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:19AM
they should be paying us to take that game off their hands.
bayn @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:19AM
nevermind then...
KUV1977 @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:22AM
I'd say it is okayish for 30$. Not great, not good, just ok.
The game starts pretty good but after an hour you realize that it is nothing but boring repetiton PLUS storytelling of an extreme sleep-inducing quality... the story itself is great but horribly told... and most foreseeable..
sean @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:26AM
the fightin was kind of fun from what i remember. havent played since its release. but it was so damn repetitive. same missions over and over and over again.
and yeah gamefly does sell games cheap i can keep MGS4 form them for only 40 bucks. and i know it works becuase i had it since june 12th lol
JerJerBinks @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:49AM
Is that $40 + the $15 rental fee?
Sean @ Jul 4th 2008 7:12AM
there is no rental fee. unless u mean the 20 bucks a month for 2 games out at a time. but we get about 2 games a week when i dont keep them forever like MGS4 lol. ive been a memebr for over a year so get 10% discounts though. or somewhere around 10%
Kevin @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:27AM
Honestly if there is no multiplayer then just rent it.
$30 is way too much to pay for a game you will only play for about a week.
Richard @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:50AM
Deal of the Day? more like rip-off of the day. This is one of the most boring games i've ever played! For anyone who hasn't bought it... don't bother!
evilJaze @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:53AM
I'll have to agree with the others. I bought it on day 1 and then sold it on eBay a week later. The repetition got to me after a few hours. Good idea but bad execution.
Neil @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:18PM
So true.....it's a shame cause it could have been awesome.
Ben @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:14AM
This game was repetitive.
But it is visually interesting, has a compelling story, and was fun to play. If you plan to sit and play this all the way through in one weekend, then don't buy it. If you plan to play for 1 hour at a time over the course of a couple weeks, then do.
I can't wait for AC2.
ComicShaman @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:18AM
Wow. I guess I'm in the minority or something, but I enjoyed this game a lot. I loved the climbing and jumping mechanisms, and thought the combat was innovative and enjoyable.
Dirty @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:58AM
I agree, this game was great. The free running was a lot of fun, climbing up all the buildings in the city was very cool. The combat was brutal. I don't know why people are so down on this game. I would go read the reviews and not listen to the jaded people here.
I got it from Gamefly for 17 bucks however.
farfisa @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:26PM
I liked it too (got it bundled with CoD4 for $80 when it was released). The thing that actually annoyed me the most with it was that there were no subtitles--the sound got pretty annoying ("do you have any coins? please sir, I need some money!" PUNCH! Mission failed.), so I kept the volume low and ended up missing some of the story.
Brodie-san @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:58AM
I got it for my 30th birthday and haven't taken it out of the wrapper yet. I'm still looking forward to it though. Naysayers be damned!
Oh, I was 30 on Christmas Day so, it's been sitting there for over 6 months now
;)
Neil @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:14PM
The game was such a let down.....after 1 hour you've seen it all and other than the graphics, there wasn't much to see. To date this is the worst PS3 purchase I have mad, thankfully I bought it for $40 and was able to sell it for $40, so at least I got my money back.
ajiezer @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:45PM
well despite the majority of the bad opinions I bought it today, I was looking forward for it but not at 60 bucks, I do consider it a good deal
ajiezer @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:46PM
oh and thanks for the tip Alan
Miguel @ Jul 2nd 2008 3:23PM
They have it on Amazon for $25 brand new for 360 if you're a multiplatform owner.
I've been thinking of giving it a try but the responses on this comment thread may be detering me. Is it good enough for a rental?
