TripleTags.com gamercards to include trophy support

One of the best thing about achievements and Gamerscore on the Xbox 360 is the ability to show it off to the world through the use of gamercards. These embeddable image files (example, above) allowed players to show off their recently played games, and their ever-growing Gamerscores. According to a recent post on TripleTags.com, the popular (but unofficial) source for PS3 gamercards will be getting support for trophies too. Hopefully, this will mean that players will no longer have to manually edit their gamercards with new games. Instead, a new API should allow the gamercard to update automatically with your recent trophy-enabled games and PlayStation level.

(Also, wouldn't it be great if PS3 Fanboy profile pages could show this kind of info? Maybe if you leave enough comments, we can bother our programmers to do exactly that!)

I wish Sony would have their own 'tag' service though, like being able to log in to the PSN to check friend requests and the like...

Like on the 360 and XBL.

Anyhow, let's see if Sony gives up the API for this. As far as I know no one has such a thing yet.

Sorry if I come across as soliciting. We're actually an independent site from TripleTags.com serving as the official community.

In our discussions with Sony in the past, they said there will be a public API when Home comes out since Home is going to have a Myspace-styled web browser counterpart.

But since Home is taking so long, we're still pushing.

Funny how you all hated on SonyProtectionGroup but are now excited by TripleTags. I assume SONY will be launching their own and thus why we are aligning our PSN and PSForum ID.

TripleTags.com is not with Sony Protection Group anymore, they split a long time ago.

SPG is trying to retaliate with their own tag site.

Umm... tripletags is getting so much traffic because this article is misleading. Sony HAS NOT released an API to allow third parties access to your PSN account with trophies, etc. From what I can tell, tripletags is just going to snag trophy pictures and descriptions and put them into their linkable signature files / profile pages. Big deal.

This is not the gamercard you get from XBL where everything is linked into Microsoft's servers. It's 100% manual.

I wish PS3 Fanboy would clarify this in their post.

Yes the site is manuel for now, and we hope to get the API so we can have it link to your PSN account in due time.

Take it from me JamesL007, same guy so helps run tripletags.com and triplechat.com, I make up posts, game icons for almost all the games, approve skins, and now get trophy information to that list of what I do.

So far nobody does have the API yet, we hope to get it so we can make the process eariler for our users after all and do some cool linkable system with the accounts then on the site. Its a future feature we hope to get, but for now its manuel but at least its something.

Sony is just security-paranoid. I'm a lead writer at TripleChat.com, by the way, and you'll hear straight from TripleChat when we do get something.

Of course we'll inform PS3Fanboy.com when it happens as well...

...and maybe, the ps3 should give support to custom soundtracks, maybe in game xmb, maybe chat with a friend while they are playing something else. Or maybe it should become an Xbox 360 entirely! That would be the ultimate step in becoming a true next gen console!
