Trophy Guide: Super Stardust HD

Hero of Lave - Complete planet Lave
Bronze | Difficulty: Very Easy
All Arcade mode Trophies can be earned in Easy mode. We recommend that you play on that difficulty to make it easier to get the Trophies you want. For this Trophy, simply beat the first level. Having trouble with the boss? Make sure you focus on only one weak point at a time. You should be able to destroy one weak point before he does his spin attack. His spin will vacuum space debris, so you may want to keep your distance in the early parts of this battle. The Trophy will unlock once you start the next level.
Hero of Coventina - Complete planet Coventina
Bronze | Difficulty: Very Easy
You will want to power up your Gold Melter beam. Once you get 100% upgrades for your Rock Crusher in the first level, focus exclusively on getting upgrades for your Gold Melter. A trick for when red bomb enemies drop from the sky: rotate your analog stick so that your ship spins fire all around you. If you're at 100% and you spin quickly enough, this will create a psuedo-shield that will make you nearly invincible against any exploding enemies. The key for the boss is to remember it has two phases. In the first phase, it will shoot bullets. Stay moderately away, so you can dodge the bullets and use your Gold Melter to focus on its weak point. Then, it will turn around. Do not get close yet. Once it stops, it has entered phase two. Go directly in front of its red weak point, and its arms will close around you. Keep on firing at its weak point, and move slightly whenever you see a dotted green line. You will do massive damage here. Once it retracts, it will repeat this cycle. The Trophy unlocks at the start of the next level.
Hero of Nemain - Complete planet Nemain
Bronze | Difficulty: Very Easy
You will want to power up your Ice Splitter beam. Once you get 100% upgrades for both your Rock Crusher and Gold Melter in the first two levels, focus exclusively on getting upgrades for your Ice Splitter. The Ice Splitter has an incredible range, so if you find yourself having difficulty with the ships that shoot back at you, go far away from them and use your Ice Splitter on them. Don't forget that Boost makes you invulernable. Use the same technique on these two bosses as you did on the first level. The Trophy unlocks at the start of the next level.
Hero of Taranis - Complete planet Taranis
Bronze | Difficulty: Easy
Remember, you can unlock Trophies by starting at later levels. If you're running low on lives, simply starting a new game at the last level may help. When surrounded by enemies, it helps to deploy a bomb. For the bosses, you will want to alternate between one and the other. You want to have it so that you are always trapped inside the arms of one of the bosses. This is the best way to protect yourself, and maximize damage. The Trophy unlocks at the start of the next level.
Hero of Segomo - Complete planet Segomo
Bronze | Difficulty: Easy
This is a very easy level, so long as you remember to use the right beams and remember the techniques mentioned earlier. You'll want to save at least three bombs for the final boss, so make sure you collect bombs from drop ships as often as possible. They are most easily destroyed by using your Gold Melter. When you reach the boss, look for a new kind of tower you haven't seen before, one that has red dots surrounding it. Simply deploy a bomb, and it will start launching missles at the core. Wait a little bit and another one will appear. Your bombs will make this boss a cakewalk. The Trophy unlocks when you're back at the main menu (on Easy).
The Tokenizer - Collect 5 tokens with a single boost in Arcade
Bronze | Difficulty: Very Easy
See Token Hoarder.
Scrooge MacBoom - Get 10 bombs in Arcade
Bronze | Difficulty: Easy
See Well Prepared.

Token Hoarder - Collect 15 tokens with a single boost in Arcade
Silver | Difficulty: Moderate
You will get 15 tokens in one boost if you boost into a bonus asteroid directly in the middle. To get a bonus asteroid, go to the beggining of any level. For this Trophy, we used level 2 because it appears very quickly. You will see a red icon appear with a green number. A rock will come down, and you must destroy it. As you destroy these rocks, the countdown will continue. When you destroy all the rocks, a bonus asteroid will fall down to the stage. Carefully aim your ship at the center of the green rock, and boost into it. If you did it correctly, you will get all 15 tokens you need. If you fail, simply press START and restart. You can tell how many you boosted into by looking at the text on the screen. If you see x15 somewhere, you got it. Note that it takes a few seconds for the Trophy to be unlocked. If you're getting close, but can't get all 15, you may want to try level 4. Align one or more tokens between your ship and the bonus asteroid and boost.
Well Prepared - Get 20 bombs in Arcade
Silver | Difficulty: Easy
Avoid using bombs in Arcade mode and you'll get this in no time. Remember, two bombs are found in drop ships that hold green containers. Use your Gold Melter, and you'll easily grab the bombs. Once your bomb total reaches 20, you'll unlock the Trophy.
Shield Blaster - Collect 5 shield tokens while already having a shield
Silver | Difficulty: Moderate
See Multiplier Hero.
Scenic Route - Complete a planet without using boost
Silver | Difficulty: Very Easy
Simply pick the first level on Easy, and avoid hitting the boost button. Pretty easy.
Multiplier Hero - Get 10x multiplier
Gold | Difficulty: Moderate
Your mutlplier increases the longer you play (and destroy things) without dying. Use all the tricks you've learned so far. You will essentially need to play the entire game without dying. Once again, play on Easy and simply restart if you die once. A key thing to remember is Shields are far more valuable than extra lives. If you see an Extra Ship token, avoid it and wait for it to transform into a Shield token. Getting hit while having a Shield won't reset your multiplier, so it's essential to achieving this Trophy. When you already have a Shield, touching a Shield token will act as an instant bomb. If you are unshielded, boosting towards a Shield token, even in a crowded area, is worth the risk.

The following trophies require the purchase of additional game content.
Extra Ships Optional - Survive 7 minutes without dying in Endless
Bronze | Difficulty: Hard
See Shock and Awe.
Close Encounters - Survive 45 seconds without shooting or using bombs in Survival
Bronze | Difficulty: Moderate
Survival mode has an endless stream of enemies, and not being able to shoot or bomb will feel overwhelming. Remember to make very small movements with your controller, and stay focused on your ships at all time. You should be able to boost, although we've heard reports from some that say boosting is not allowed. You should be able to unlock this Trophy without boosting. Remember: small, controlled movements are key.
Late Boomer - Get 15 bombs in Bomber
Silver | Difficulty: Very Hard
This is the hardest Trophy in the game. The point of this Trophy is not to collect 15 bombs, but to have 15 bombs total. There are many reasons why this is so difficult. Firstly, you must be frugal with your bombs. You can ONLY use them to get more bombs. You spend one bomb to earn two, which means you cannot use your bombs on enemies. The general strategy will be to trail bomb ships when you see them, and only explode them when you absolutely must. DO NOT use bombs against enemies and rocks. You will simply have to dodge them. You'll want to follow bomb ships for as long as possible, because if you're lucky, you'll be fortunate enough to have another one spawn next to it. If you can destroy two ships with one bomb, you'll be making this much easier on yourself. Just like in Close Encounters, you'll want to make very small, deliberate movements.
Shock and Awe - Destroy 10 nukes in Endless
Silver | Difficulty: Very Hard
This is the second hardest Trophy in the game. When you get far into Endless, the screen will fill with enemies at a rate faster than you can boost and bomb away from. That's why you must save all your bombs until the latter half of this Trophy run. There's no real reason to save the nukes that appear on the planet, as you'll want them to trigger as quickly as possible. A good tactic for triggering the nukes is to boost into them. But judge the distance correctly: you do not want to boost past the nuke, as you may end up hitting an enemy. After surviving 7 minutes and unlocking Extra Ships Optional, that is when you'll want to consider using bombs. Other than that, use smart weapons changing and liberal amounts of boost. When things are dire, try to die close to a nuke: the explosion caused by your death will still be good enough to trigger the nuke and unlock the Trophy.
Split screen Co-op - Get 3 minutes of continuous Co-Op weapon boost on Segomo
Gold | Difficulty: Very Easy
Quite possibly the easiest Trophy in the game, and it's a Gold one too. You won't need an extra friend, just an extra controller. Start split screen co-op (not standard co-op) and choose Segomo. When you start the level, stay close to each other, so that you see a stream between the both ships. Simply wait for three minutes and the Trophy will unlock. DO NOT SHOOT ANYTHING. Enemies will not be triggered so long as all the asteroids are intact. If need be, move both your ships in the same direction to avoid getting hit.

Hockeypunk10 @ Jul 5th 2008 5:50PM
i beat planet lave this morning on easy and i didnt get a trophy does anyone know if i did something wrong
Jim @ Jul 6th 2008 7:06PM
You have to beat it in arcade.
I have no split screen co op option!
I have the expansion pack and all there is at the title menu is one "Co-op" option - no standard or split screen
The trophy won't unlock for me - even after I did it for 10 min straight. I looked back at the expansion pack and it doesn't say anything in it about co-op. There is only one expansion pack.
Fruitlewp @ Jul 7th 2008 5:35PM
@ Jim:
Split screen coop is added in the "team" expansion. You've probably got the solo expansion, which just adds the extra singleplayer modes. The team expansion was released with firmware 2.40, but both the firmware and the expansion have now been pulled for maintenance. Just keep an eye on the stardust page of the store, I'm sure the team expansion will be put up again shortly.
imamplified @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:16PM
awsomenes thx guys
Armani @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:25PM
Awesome guide!
Adam Lindsay @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:27PM
Besides the the drop ships that carry the bombs where else can you get them because I cant find 20 around.
Nick @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:34PM
As far as I know that's the only way to collect bombs.
Alex @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:54PM
For "Token Hoarder", does your ship have to end up in the center of the bonus asteroid, or can you simply just boost THROUGH it, but in the middle?
Having a hard time on this one :(
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:22PM
Boost through the middle. It's easiest if you get below it, get real close, and boost up into it.
Kevin @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:33PM
Do you honestly need to play the game to know how to earn the trophies?
They tell you what to do in the trophy list.
The only reason I'm having some trouble is that I'm going through the game in normal and I have to simultaneously keep my dog from nibbling on my toes.
Cory @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:39PM
lets see if this helps because i absolutely suck at two stick shooters.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:58PM
lol me too. i think im gettin better now but i remember i couldnt get passed the 3rd level of Everyday Shooter to save my life. i finally gave up. i think im better at SSHD though so hopefully i can collect some trophies.
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:39PM
For Close Encounters, I found the best way to do it was to pick a direction and just keep moving in it- keep your eye ahead of the ship and look for paths. Just cruise through it for 45 seconds.
I hate Late Boomer.
TheRockBoS @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:45PM
Ugh, I should have realized that was how to do it. Thanks for the tips.
halebound00 @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:51PM
Hey, for Close Encounters you can use the boost. In fact its worth it because you can boost through the green asteroids and get the time bonus which adds like 4 seconds to your time. I did it on the second try.
jakob.falthammar @ Aug 7th 2008 2:10PM
I've gotten past 45 seconds a couple of times now but i dont get the trophy. The first time i did it i took a time token so i thought that you couldnt do that. The second and third time i used the boost so i thought i couldnt do that either. Im trying to do it without using either a token or the boost now but im having some problems. Can someone help me?
jakob.falthammar @ Aug 7th 2008 2:13PM
I just tried the method you were using, boosting into the green rocks, and i got to 1 minute but i still didnt get the trophy. What am i doing wrong?
halebound00 @ Aug 7th 2008 3:06PM
Hmmmmm....that is weird jakob. I used boost and got tokens and it worked just fine for me. I had a couple of buddies do it as well. Sorry I can't be of much help, but keep trying, maybe it'll work one of these times.
Fohacidal @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:58PM
I would also like to confirm that its possible to boost and get the Close Encounters trophy
MGSROCKS1 @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:09PM
What is the sound effect when you unlock a trophy?
benny boy @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:11PM
I actually didn't hear one when I unlocked a trophy which was a bit disappointing but there was sound effects playing on the game so it might have blocked out the sound from earning the trophy.
I'll just have to get another trophy and try hard to listen out for a sound. I hope there actually is one.
Fruitlewp @ Jul 8th 2008 4:54AM
It's a feint ding, usually drowned out by game sound though.
Erik Hansen @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:12PM
i cant get the 15 token boost one, if tried like 20 times
Jeff @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:14PM
How do you start split screen co-op? I don't see an option anywhere for that. I have all the add-on content as well.
Kid Chemical @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:47AM
It requires the Team Expansion add-on ($4.99), currently only available from within the game's store front (US only from my understanding).
I imagine it'll show up in the regular store with tomorrow's update.
Ken Edwards @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:13AM
I would sure like to know that myself.
Ken Edwards @ Jul 4th 2008 2:58PM
It is not available in the game's store. I checked. Nor is it up on the PS Store. Why the heck can you play co-op but not split screen. I have the Solo Pack. I just went through my download history, and I have not downloaded any other packs for it.
tuaamin13 @ Jul 3rd 2008 9:12AM
IGN says it's going to be added to the PSN store today
Ghost inthe Shell @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:16PM
hey guys sorry to be a bit off topic but i just had a question. Does any one know if there is going to be a list of games that have Trophy's as of right now or is it going to be some thing thats going to be anounced as it happens
nobody528 @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:17AM
http://www.ps3trophies.org/index.php
This will have all the info you need. Good luck trophy hunting!
Armani @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:17PM
The Trophy unlock sound is like a "Ping!" It's kind of hard to hear in SSHD, for obvious reasons
Daniel @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:43PM
awesome very helpful guys!
Silentkat @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:58PM
I just beet the whole game straight through and I got tons of tropheys....they do nt show up under my user name one i exited...anyone know how to get them to show up?
Archmaester @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:01AM
Sometimes it just takes a few minutes to post to you XMB. Still not showing up for you?
stargateheaven @ Jul 3rd 2008 7:15AM
you gotta be online for them to update i think
xMayze @ Jul 8th 2008 11:31PM
Exit the game .. then view your SSHD trophies, it will then upload them
Archmaester @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:00AM
I only lack 2 more, one of which is the co-op one. The add-on is not appearing in my game. Anyone else experiencing this?
Tez (PSN: Tezasaurus) @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:11PM
Nope, showed up for me.
Archmaester @ Jul 5th 2008 11:33PM
Yeah... it got pulled along with 2.4... sigh
Silentkat @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:07AM
thankx for the tip...(thought id gotton jipped there....heh)
they finally showed up....how many do you need to get level2?
Archmaester @ Jul 3rd 2008 12:15AM
I dunno, I have 12 (7 Bronze, 4 Silver, 1 Gold) and I am Lv. 2 Sorry I don't know when I bumped up.
waku127 @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:33AM
i think u need 40 points to get to lvl2 bronze=3 silver=6 and iunno about gold cuz i don't have one yet but probably 9. i have 42 (8 bronze and 3 silver) and i just got to lvl2
oglabogla @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:56AM
Can anyone tell me if its possible to get the Co-op gold trophy on the first level, nobody in my house nor my friends are coordinated enough to even stay with me let alone survive, I even lasted for around 190 seconds and I didnt get the trophy...
Also the 15 bombs one on bomber is freaking impossible...
Archmaester @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:12AM
yeah, the 15 bomb one sucks. For the co-op, just fly around next to each other and dont shoot anything for the 3 minutes.
reakt @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:47AM
About the tips for "Split screen Co-op". I don't think this is how we are "supposed" to complete this goal. What's the fun in cheating to get the gold trophy!?!?!
JaffaBoy @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:18AM
I love trophies... spent last night trying to get a few and just 'got in the groove' ...pushed my Arcade high score from 21million to 86.
Gutted to find out you can get trophies while playing easy... I played in normal thinking that was the only way to get them!
Tru-blu @ Jul 3rd 2008 10:12AM
I had the same train of thought. I was playing the game on Normal thinking that the Trophies wouldn't be earned on Easy mode.
And if it wasn't for the addition of Trophies, then I think it'd be highly unlikely that I'd be playing SSHD as much as I have been the past 2 days.
Sorry if this double-posts, for my comments seem to not post sometimes on the first try.
JaffaBoy @ Jul 4th 2008 4:26AM
I'm not happy today.... somehow my new high score has been lost... it's still saying my high score is the old one.... yet I've got the trophy for getting through that last level
:-(
Laurens Holst @ Jul 3rd 2008 7:30AM
Boosting is allowed in Close Encounters. I got my trophy while boosting once.
