Gameplay video shows first part of Silent Hill: Homecoming
Supposedly from an early beta version of Silent Hill: Homecoming on the PS3, this Russian gameplay video shows a playthrough of what appears to be the first chapter of the game. Gameplay-wise everything looks similar to what we have seen before, and the provider of the video assures us the narrator isn't saying anything we didn't know already. In terms of story, we'll refrain from saying much as small story elements are disclosed in the 13+ minute video, but it involves the protagonist Alex returning home and running into some old family and friends. Look for Silent Hill: Homecoming when it arrives September of this year.

I become more and more disappointed everytime i see gameplay footage. To be honest, i don't care too much about the fighting mechanics for the silent hill series. What always drew me to the games were the story and atmosphere. I love the story of 1,2, and 4. I never finished 3.
All I was looking forward to for the next sequel is another awesome story, and next gen/current gen graphics to enhance the scary atmosphere. So far, the game has been looking brighter than the previous games, and the fact that the main character knows how to fight kinda takes away the scariness out of the game. Rather than a survival horror, it's turning into an action game. Had i mentioned how god awful the graphics look? Last gen, silent hill series always tried to push the limits of each console.
Maybe I'm just spoiled from MGS4 and bioshock. But this game looks like an xbox1 game. Look at capcoms resident evil 5, and look at this piece of crap. I hope silent hill 5 is no where near done. Look how stiff the blonde girl's hair is.. omfg.
Resident evil 5 has a lot going on screen, and it can still have kick ass graphics and use hdr lighting. There isn't practically anything happening on screen in silent hill 5. They should be able to add better effects then RE5. I'm also angry they used a different team to make the game. I honestly hope it crashes and burns in hell.
Look at the water effects! You must be wondering what I'm talking about since THERE ARE NO WATER EFFECTS, aside from reflection.
Hope i didn't offend anyway, except the current sh5 dev team that's destroying the franchise, if they're reading this.

i believe the key words are "early beta"

I got déja vu reading your post J!
And I'm tired of people justifying every new batch of screenshots or piece of footage with the "early beta!" justification. How long are they going to go on releasing this "early beta" footage and actually show us something worthwhile, or from a "near final" build? The game is coming out in 2 months and they're still showing this kind of footage!?
A staple of the SH series has been its ability to impress from the very.first.trailer. None of this "here's a general idea of where we MIGHT be going" crap. SH:V has been nothing but a disappointment since its inception and has been so for every single piece of media that has come out since. *sob*

But the thing is they didn't release this. Someone else did. The game doesn't look anything like that now. Go get Qore 2nd issue, its like 2.99, and see what the game really looks like.

I looks like this is from an early build. The scene in the basement was shown on Qore and it looked totally different.
