Gainax porting Princess Maker 5 to the PSP this fall

Gainax, an anime studio best known for Neo Genesis Evangelion, is going to be publishing something wholly different this fall on the PSP. Princess Maker 5, which was released on the PS2 in Japan last year, will be getting a port to the PSP. In all the Princess Maker games, you play as a man who adopts a daughter that you must raise. In this current incarnation the player raises a girl of royal heritage who is a candidate to become princess. He protects her after the other candidates for princess are killed and she is the next apparent target. The fifth game in the series will feature a modern setting, as opposed to a period setting in past games. For the first time you may also play as a mother to the girl. The game will be released on September 25th in Japan.

They don't even have sex? Man the Japanese are really slacking off. Honestly you can't seriously post a news story like this and expect anyone to be excited...Result of no other news right now I suppose. Come on E3!

Actually I know the second game, the only one to be translated to english... and it's surprisingly interesting. It's a mix of strategy, graphic novel and sim. Things can go wrong and the girl can turn into a whore and stuff, or just be a brat if you pamper her too much.

So I guess your sarcastic comments are just because... you're ignorant assholes =)

Seconded. Anyone who makes the note "best known for the anime Neo Genesis Evangelion" I'm betting hasn't watched Tengan Toppa Gureen Lagann. :P

Where Evangelion deconstructed the mecha genre to the point you were supposed to thing "This is some F-ed up ****" --- TTGL does the exact opposite and reconstructs it higher and higher till it pierces the heavens and still gets even more epic from there. It's the perfect counterpoint to Evangelion, only 10x better.

Evangelion was fine until the creator had a literal psychotic break down and reflected that in the series (like Shinji's gay friend, and the last episodes that are just terrible). It's easily the most overrated piece of crap anime on the planet though.

I'll always remember Gainax for the gem that is FLCL (Fooly cooly, Furi Kuri, etc) and now for what is easily the best anime (IMO) in years (Gurren Lagann). Evangelion though? Hell no. I'd love to forget that certain piece of trash, but unfortunately all the fangirls won't let me.

Years ago, one of the people from Working Designs translated one of the PC versions, hoping to publish it in the US. While that never panned out, the translated version did show up on the 'net.

Basically it's just like Monster Rancher in terms of gameplay, except with princesses.

I know it sounds weird but I so would love to see this game come out in the US. I also would love to see how you would sell this game in the US. Do you sell it to girls which would bring more girl gamers to the PSP. Which would in doing so help sell even more PSPs. Plus get a little of the casual market on the PSP. Or do you go the way of selling this to guys. Which I dare not speak of how. Would also help sell the PSP. Or do you do a combo of both.
