Video: David Hayter at Anime Expo

David Hayter spoke rather candidly about playing the role of Snake in the Metal Gear series this weekend at Anime Expo. Hayter has made it clear that he'd want to write the Metal Gear movie script, and he's expressed some of his criticisms of the series' storyline. Thankfully, Zac from Kotaku has captured a majority of the panel through shaky-cam. The first series of videos can be seen above -- the rest at Kotaku. For any Metal Gear fan, hearing the famed voice actor speak so bluntly and freely will come as a refreshing treat.

who cares. This dude is a voice actor. Who cares what he thinks. He didn't create Metal Gear so he has no say in the story or what the movie should be. Just collect your check man and keep it moving. Just because you do voice overs doesn't make you a great film maker or writer.

i respect him because he's one of the few game voice actors who seem to ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME! shocker. The raiden voice actor i think hasn't even seen the game that he's played a major role in.

It is getting tiring to a certain extent, just because he does voice acting he seems to think he deserves a larger role, but I find his thoughts interesting, and I for one think he should be involved somehow.

i have to agre with you on that cg would be the best way for the mgs movie to go. not that a live action would;t be cool but there is so much room for error.

if they cook the sotry line as is and created a 4 or 5 part anime much to the way the new helsing ulatimate anime was done i think that would be the cooles't thing ever. that is just one of my selfish wants cause i really love the way anime is protrayed

It's been a long time since Guyver 2, so I think it's safe to say this: The dude could look just like Snake with minor makeup and a fuckin' headband. He already sounds like him (naturally), let Kojima do up the script, let some revisionist make it comprehensible to the general public, and have the closest thing to the "real" Solid Snake we've ever seen.
