Rock Band 2 will have free access to all Rock Band tracks [update]
Additionally, two different track lists, one with 80 songs and another with 60 have also been uncovered, though how reliable they are is anyone's guess. There are some songs on both lists, and each list might contain future planned DLC that might never get released. The rumored lists after the jump.

[Update: According to IGN Xbox Team Editor-in-Chief Hilary Goldstein, "Nate (the originator of the above quote) goofed in writing that. He hopes that is allowed. Nothing about this has been announced and Nate's never even seen RB2. Sorry, guys." Guess we'll all find out the truth at E3 next week, huh?]

Wow, this is pretty excellent news. Might have to sell my Rock Band re-buy the bundle of RB2. I wonder if stats carry over at all..
reson8er @ Jul 8th 2008 12:08PM
I wish Sony would follow this example with respect to Singstar PS3. I would not mind getting a new disc as much if I didn't have to swap them to play songs on the original disc.
lesisking @ Jul 8th 2008 12:09PM
So that means when rockband 2 is launched in europe we will get all the rockband 1 tracks as free DLC it just begs the question when will RB2 be released in europe
Brian @ Jul 8th 2008 12:35PM
Probably never. I was still waiting for Rock Band 1 to come out here on PS3, when Rock Band 2 was announced. I think I may just give up on it and wait for Guitar Hero 4.
tan @ Jul 8th 2008 8:19PM
lol guitar hero already has my heart.
i bought rock band though=D
i love my music games!
and whenever this comes out in europe, if the setlist has some of those songs i'll probably buy game only=D
HaloEleven @ Jul 8th 2008 12:22PM
AC/DC and The Replacements FTW!!!
HaloEleven @ Jul 8th 2008 12:23PM
AC/DC and The Replacements FTW!!!
el sworodo @ Jul 8th 2008 12:24PM
so does this mean i can trade in rockband towards rockband 2?
dave @ Jul 8th 2008 12:34PM
I'm definitely not getting rock band or rock band 2. Guitar Hero 4 looks better and it really annoys me that rock band still hasn't released in Europe. I could be wrong but rock band 2 looks like it's pretty much the same game as rock band with more tracks.
Averna @ Jul 8th 2008 10:07PM
Yeah Im going to import RB2. Not going to hang around for another year waiting for EA to pull their finger out.
That plus the realisation that RB/RB2 will cost more than the price of importing AND PSN cards being released soon (hopefully). EA dropped the ball on RockBand because I would have bought both if RB had been dropped worldwide.
Andy @ Jul 8th 2008 12:34PM
Pretty nice lists there. But no Freezepop.
Anyway, I'm taking any list with a grain of salt until HMX actually announces something themselves.
Ricky @ Jul 8th 2008 12:40PM
This is false, I'd take down this article as it has already been debunked.
Ricky @ Jul 8th 2008 12:43PM
I mean the Rock Band setlist coming as free DLC, the rumored setlist hasn't been debunked.
Espiox @ Jul 8th 2008 12:50PM
Yes, the free DLC thing is NOT TRUE.
D @ Jul 8th 2008 2:37PM
source?
Andrew @ Jul 8th 2008 12:56PM
I really hope this doesn't come out too much later than the xbox 360 version. I was going to wait and get GHWT but if I can get all the songs off rock band 1 and rock band two, I will definitely get rock band 2 instead, unless it doesn't come out on PS3 for a long time, that will piss me off. Wonder if it will incorporate trophies.
Vcize @ Jul 8th 2008 1:41PM
It's refreshing to see a developer being so consumer friendly with this stuff. I just wish I enjoyed the core gameplay of RB as much as GH. Hopefully in RB2 they get a little more liberal with the timing of your strums/hammers a la GH3 and make the hammer-ons easier to see (just make them glow instead of the shorter rectangles).
Todd @ Jul 8th 2008 3:51PM
Just get better at playing
tan @ Jul 8th 2008 8:19PM
lol i have to say rock bands hammerons pulloffs sucked.
i don't care if it makes it more realistic, its just, not as fun once you get to the insane solos, if there even are any...
i mean, they should losen then up a bit, make them more like aerosmiths because that way it feels better.
bob @ Jul 8th 2008 2:00PM
oh god i hope theres some disturbed in there that would be amazing especially down wiht the sickness stricken is my fav song on GH 3 and disturbed owns!!!!
goatse @ Jul 8th 2008 2:28PM
I'm wondering how are they gonna know if they own the copy of the original RB??? I mean pretty much everyone with a RB2 could download all the original tracks if they borrowed a original copy right??
Cameron @ Jul 8th 2008 2:44PM
If this is true and we can download the songs from RB1 to RB2 that will be a HUGE advantage over GHWT. I just want to know when it is coming out for PS3. I can't wait for E3 next week.
bugatti23007 @ Jul 8th 2008 3:48PM
Whats with all the crappy songs.Who listens to these crappy songs the only good ones are Disturbed-Down with the sickness and Paramore-thats what you get. Some damn good songs would be AFI-Miss Murder,Bullet For My Valentine-Waking the Demon,Good charlotte-Lifestyle of the rich and famous,Green Day-American Idiot,Holiday,Papa Roach -Getting away with murder,Paramore-Misery business,Emergency,RATM-Calm like a bomb,Red Jumpsuit Apparatus -face down,Rob Zombie-Dragula,Saliva-weight of the world, bleed for me,always, click click boom,Seether-remedy,rise above this,Simple Plan-welcome to my life,Story of the year-til the day I die, anthem of our dying day, wake up,Tokio Hotel-ready set go,Underoath-writing on the walls and every song from Evanescence except call me when your sober.
Kurai @ Jul 8th 2008 3:57PM
It's getting old saying this, but what you think is "crap" other people may enjoy.
A_N_T_H_O_N_Y @ Jul 8th 2008 11:31PM
First of all, trying to pass your opinion on something as a fact just makes you look like a complete idiot. Especially when that opinion is not a very good one. And seriously, who are you to critisize those rumoured setlists up there. I am pretty damn sure that most people would MUCH rather have those songs than the ones you posted. Like seriously. AFI? Evanescence? Bullet for My Valentine? Good Charlotte? SIMPLE FUCKING PLAN?
Mike Candelaria @ Jul 8th 2008 7:41PM
i think if it's rue you should only get the RB1 songs if you own a copy of RB1
djpenny1 @ Jul 11th 2008 6:35PM
now this look like good game
