If you're having trouble procuring funds and equipment for your own underwater holiday, perhaps your appetite for the aqueous will be temporarily satiated by these images for
Aquanaut's Holiday.
Japanese site GameWatch has posted some images from the Artdink title and it's looking pretty good. Of course, you've got to be into the whole "take pictures of animals in a relaxed environment" style of game, but that shouldn't be too hard of a prerequisite if the searching portion is fun. The game comes out in September of this year in Japan.

This is like one of those kinds of games that Nintendo should put on the W- oh wait. Hey, I loved Endless Ocean, and if I can get it in hi-def, I'm all over it.

Hi-def is right. The Wii can never make these kind of games look as good as the PS3 will be able to. I can't read Japanese, but it looks like you will be able to learn about the different kinds of underwater life as you encounter it. This will be very educational and I know my son will love it. He is six and is looking forward to this one and Afrika. What a great move for Sony to open up the PS3 and let it have some educational uses.

Whats with all these 'games' coming out where you do hardly anything?
Afrika, Linger in Shadows, that gardening game and now this?

You forgot Metal Gear Solid 4! ;)

any idea if it will just be current marine life?
like what about things that are thought by some to still be living, such as the megalodon shark?
also would be fun to go hunt nessy!
would be disapointed if they put all this effort in and didnt let you really, really deep sea dive, even though we have only really discovered something like 5% of the under sea world

I think they're designed for people looking to escape the "standard" video games. I think it's interesting, and I welcome new genres of games. I bought some of the PlaystationEye games just to check it out, and the Japanese "Interactive Art" game (forget the name) is always a hit at parties, along with the fishtank "game."

According to and article at Impress Watch (http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20080708/aqua.htm) you play as a Journalist who goes to the island (Aqua Heaven) in search of a missing biologist (William Glover). The story then takes you operating an underwater subs looking for the biologist. The focus is to map out the ocean and look for clues on his where abouts. There will also be side stories too.
I'm not that good with translating Japanese into English but this is the gist of it.
Cheers

They need to make a next gen version of Disaster Report

Whale Sharks ftw.

Needs more coral imo. The rounded rock surfaces all look wrong, and not as jagged and porus as they should be. Plus, that turtle doesn't look very good. I like the squid though :)
