Phantasy Star Portable downloadable demo
1. Download the demo zip file.
2. Extract the contents of the zip file.
3. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
4. Go to the PSP/GAME folder.
5. Copy ULJM91014 folder into the GAME directory. Make sure there are no sub-directories in this folder.

I got the japanese version of the game and lemme tell ya mateys, this game is AWESOME AND ADDICTIVE. Im playing as a beast hunter atm, made a cast ranger n got bored cuz theres no lockon function for firearms.
P.S: this game does require some knowledge of jap if u wanna play it

I've been a Phantasy Star fan since the first (yes I had a sega master system) and the current game in my psp is Phantasy Star 4 (on the Genesis Collection).
I will learn Japanese for Phantasy Star.

I can't start the game. After I create new character demo starts over and brings me to first screen. It's impossible to start actual game. Any ideas? I tried to launch it on PSP Slim.

just finished playing it, and i got to say it is awsome! the fighting mechanics are really easy to pick up, i thought the controls were gonna be a bit wierd since i play ps2 version of it, but the controls were excellent, graphics are great, i really hope they make a english version of the game. us americans and people from europe have not had a game to look forward to on psp since final fantasy 7 crisis core and god of war. the japanese have had alot of great games thats been in thier region only. this game will be great, but please english? note to people who just start the game: just press o through all the text, there is no wrong thing to do

Sweet, sweet demo. The game has been ported almost flawlessly to the PSP, and the customization options are great. The only 'complaint' I have is that the camera pans too far away from the character on missions... it looks tiny, and you can't appreciate the nice character model you make. Apart from that, everything's nice.
Hope to hear from a western release soon!

Hey great! thanks for the heads up. Say arent the makers of this game the ones who made the first Radiant Mythology game? I wonder if there next game Radiant Mythology 2 will take a few cues from what they learned making Phantasy Start Portable.

I don't speak a lick of Japanese, and therefore that demo was impossible to figure out. I understand that you have to use the O key to accept, but it was still very difficult to figure out what to do and where to go. I never could get into combat.

Me neither. I felt like there was no where to go after creating my character. I did a lot of talking, then I had two options, go into that room and click on some stuff that pulled up conversations or go out and look at the place from space where I could pull up a menu that said NEW but wouldnt let me doing anything when I clicked through. Theres like nothing else to do, the Start menu doesnt get me anywhere either.
Where do we go for actually playing the game everybody?

You have to navigate the start menu, and invite the two chars to your party. Just like in PSU. Once you have them in your party (you'll see their names and life bars above yours), you can actually do the mission that was once faded out.

I downloaded the demo, and the only thing I can say is; it has nice graphics. I don't read (or speak) Japanese, so I just had to guess at everything. I didn't even get to any combat, i just got to more menus. :\
So warning, unless you can read Japanese, don't bother with the demo.

There is one thing I dislike about this demo...
I can't really understand it because it's in Japanese. :o}
I understand "hai" (Yes), "iie" (No), and some other words defined through hiragana and some katakana, but I couldn't really put them together. I got a bit confused with the menu, but I think I have the hang of it now.
This demo is absolutely phenomenal and this game is a must-buy for me. And the most shocking thing is, I hated Phantasy Star Online and even Universe! This game is perfect on the PSP. Thanks again Andrew!!

Wow this is like a full game instead of a demo since after your done story mode you can solo multiplayer. Plus you can go to the shops.

The learning curve for the Japanese required for not only Phantasy Star Portable, but for Phantasy Star Universe is not hard at all. The only thing you need to actually know is the menus. The weapon and item names are written in katakana, which with a trusty little chart available via Wikipedia is not hard to translate at all. Granted, it'll be a little different. For instance, the Japanese version of the Mugunruk (11* spear) is something like (broken into syllables) Mu Gu N Ru Ku. It's hard to take an educated guess there. Just apply yourself and in no time at all, you'll know the katakana like the back of your hand.

remember that in japan most demos switch O for X so press O most of the time, hope that clarifies some tihngs.

Guys, I downloaded this demo to my PSP, but when I want to start it on PSP- it says corrupted DATA . What am I doing wrong? I am new in this PSP , so please inform me what I have to do to play demos on my PSP. I have PSP slim 3.80

could some 1 help me out im not 2 savvy with this kinda stuff -> ive downloaded the demo but when i extract it says i need 2 pick the correct file 2 extract it with (or something like that) and it asks if i want 2 pick a program orsearch 4 1 online (wich came up with nothin helpfull) and im not sure what 2 do PLZ help me as soon as possable btw if this didnt make sense plz say something ive been up all night watching outlaw star and cant think str8
