Rock Band 2: Ion drum kit, real Fender Strats, 7 new songs
Another seven songs have been revealed from Rock Band 2's tracklist of 80 songs in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine. This makes a total of 17 songs officially known so far. The 7 songs are:
- Bon Jovi - "Livin' on a Prayer"
- Steve Miller Band - "Rock 'n Me"
- Joan Jett - "Bad Reputation"
- Social Distortion - "I Was Wrong"
- Rage Against the Machine - "Testify"
- Avenged Sevenfold - "Almost Easy"
- Billy Idol - "White Wedding Pt. 1"
Ion, a maker of real drum kits, will release a premium Rock Band drum kit which will have "amazing" cymbals and pads, and the option to plug it into a real drum brain and for usage as a real electronic drum kit. Harmonix will also be producing limited edition guitars by taking a couple of real Fender Strats, ripping out the insides, and replacing each one of them with Rock Band parts. Sounds fancy, and very expensive. Who's first in line to sell their organs for one?

Is that for real? I am definitely buying that and throwing away my old RB drums!
I already use mine as a MIDI controller, but these designed for that means it'll surely be less cumbersome to do that. I could use a good electronic kit for when people wanna jam late at night.

Livin' on a prayer?
Damn... that game has reached huge levels of epic. Surround sound, huge TV, and a lot of beer and you have the ULTIMATE party game! How could anybody NOT have fun with that song?!?
Damian @ Jul 11th 2008 12:19PM
Jack Daniels is our go-to beverage for Rock Band nights. :)
Hunts314 @ Jul 11th 2008 4:16PM
@ damian

Being a UK PS3 owner....I doubt I'll ever see this in my lifetime...stuck with guitar hero for now.
bassiks @ Jul 11th 2008 12:14PM
Rockband is out in the UK mate.
Warbie @ Jul 11th 2008 12:35PM
No it's not, It's only out on 360 over here. We do not get it until September some time apparently.
Lars @ Jul 11th 2008 1:50PM
With the weak US dollar you could probably import RB for PS3 for about the same as walking into a store in the UK.
Averna @ Jul 11th 2008 8:59PM
or you could wait a few months and import rockband 2. I know thats what im doing. Plus Im waiting for some more network cards to come out.
Warbie @ Jul 14th 2008 2:18PM
I'm just going to wait for GH4, looks better than Rock band 1/2.
lesisking @ Jul 11th 2008 12:11PM

tonyt3rry @ Jul 11th 2008 12:35PM

Nick @ Jul 11th 2008 12:44PM
How would having all those extra pads help anything? All DLC will be able to be placed on either game (Rock Band 1 and 2), so I don't see how they're going to work around that. Surely they won't release two versions of each song.
Kurai @ Jul 11th 2008 1:03PM
They're just mapped to the same coloured pads, if a skilled player knows what notes to associate to the cymbals or pads, they can choose to play more realistically.
Nick @ Jul 11th 2008 2:41PM
Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
xcrunk @ Jul 11th 2008 1:09PM
"real" Fender Strats?
I have 5 REAL guitars, two Ibanez Jem's, a Charvel, a 5150 replica and an Ovation.....Rock Band guitars are in no way "real".
Lars @ Jul 11th 2008 1:53PM
True, and I actually don't like playing the guitar portion of these games for that reason. But the RB guitars are definitely more realistic than GH, and these new iterations prove to be even more realistic than that... though still far from real guitar unfortunately.
dancingtosirens @ Jul 11th 2008 4:19PM
I don't get your logic, when they said they are taking real stratocasters, as in "you can buy them at the guitar store", and replacing the electronics for rock band.
Hence, theyre real guitars, just not to be used in the same way.
aldo @ Jul 11th 2008 11:11PM
SHUTUP! Seriously, you guys with real guitars and drums and shit talk down to RB. We don't care. We have fun just playing the game. If we want to move on to real drums and guitar, we will.
Woz @ Jul 11th 2008 5:02PM
Well, if 8bitfix is correct, expect some AC/DC
carl @ Jul 11th 2008 5:30PM
Whoaaaaa Where Half Way There!!! Whoaaaa!!! Livin on a Prayer!!!!
My Favorite Song of all Time is in Rock Band....Must Get!!! Guaranteed!!
matahtak @ Jul 11th 2008 5:44PM
Man I'm pretty pumped for A7X's Almost Easy, that's my fav song by them. Can't wait to play that tune! I was so bummed when GH3 got that DLC and Rock Band got Deadhead stuff. Got to say that new Ion drum kit (if legit) looks amazing, and I'd shell out the cash for it.
Mike @ Jul 12th 2008 11:14PM
"more user friendly lag calibration" ?? How much fuckin easier could it get? What TV do you have? Thanks, ur done.
Miles Tormani @ Jul 18th 2008 5:28PM
Amazingly enough, it can get easier, especially when you consider not every possible theater system is listed. (How could it be anyway?)
The new Strats have microphones in them. Hold it up to speakers. Strum. Done.
