SEGA has announced that a it will be releasing a new game, entitled
Stormrise, for the PS3 sometime in 2009. The game promises to be a unique take on the RTS (Real Time Strategy) genre -- which usually doesn't translate well to game consoles. SEGA promises that the controls are being made "specifically for consoles," with gameplay that involves a non-detached form of controlling your units.
In
Stormrise, The Creative Assembly are creating a post-apocalyptic RTS set "on a bleak and barren earth". There seems to be a lot of sci-fi race vs. race backstory in there and there's a video to check out on the
official site. We'll probably see a little bit more of it at E3.

Here's a hint to anyone that is going to make an RTS for the PS3, it can function with a keyboard and mouse! Why will no one use the damn functionality? All of these RTS games control like shit with game pads.

Sega, please add keyboard and mouse support for this game to and we gamers will have some options if we don't dig the the "console" controls you set up...

This game is gonna rock! Anyone who plays pc games and knows who Creative Assembly is will prolly agree. I had a bad feeling about Viking and it sucked, but thats what happens when you make games in genres you know nothing about. But hearing that Creative Assembly is making a Console RTS game gives me wet dreams.

The only game I'm hoping for is FFXIII and FFversusXIII , but neither of those even have a guess at a release date yet , so until then I might get some other games , but unless this game has something super special about it I'll get the Tom Clancy RTS instead (I think it's called Endwar)

So.... what happened to the one zombie game from them where you have the main zombie leader and you're trying to lead your army of zombies to infect/recruit others etc?

Every new RTS released on consoles promises unique controls only to end up using controls that look like every other RTS out there. Endwar might be the only unique case so far.

Creative Assembly & RTS is all I needed to hear, if anyone can make a console RTS work its them.
