KMart ad reveals possible US greatest hits

Here's an early taste of something most likely to be at Sony's Tuesday press conference. In this image, taken from a KMart Entertainment Guide by reader Josh, it appears that three PS3 games are going to get the greatest hits treatment -- which also means a US line of greatest hits title are on the way. If true, expect to hear an official announcement on Tuesday. And, if so, it sounds like another one of our predictions came true -- this time, a pretty big one. We can smell bingo already.

Yup. Keep the PS3 clear case, but the red GH label is fine. Clear for PS3, blue for BD, red/other colors for HDDVD/other formats.

These comments won't be complete without "OMG its just a color ur gay who cares slow news day!!" I think we're good now.

Agreed. I'm glad it isn't a yellow case like we previously seen for other regions.

Yeah, I find the red color to look pretty cool. We can easily tell it's their not HD-DVD cases because the PS3 game cases are much thicker.

Also, with HD-DVD obliterated, does it really matter that the color matches? In a couple years, we'll probably be the only ones that remembers the HD-DVD cases (we being tech-savvy blog readers).

Eh...I gotta agree w/ you Roto13, hell, now if I would of seen something like Heavenly Sword--then that would have caught my attention (been wanting that for a while).

Then again, this IS a K-Mart ad....so you probably shouldn't have expected nothing too extravagant (as far as titles) anyway.

i wouldn't call Heavenly Sword a greatest hit. those 3 games ARE the only greatest hits that have graced the PS3 in it's lifecycle.

But I'm thinking along the lines of price-wise "greatest hits" seeing as though Heavenly Sword was one of the eariler launch title for PS3. So I'm surprised not to see it just yet.

if it's price wise, then it will have a price cut instead of investing in a new box with "Greatest Hits" on the cover.

Most PS2 Greatest Hits have earned that title because of commercial success or otherwise.

early games like Heavenly Sword that don't gain any success at all receive a price cut, get placed into the bargain bin category with the other sleeper hits and await a purchase.

a price cut is in order for Heavenly Sword. not a Greatest Hits cover.

Actually, I do believe HS is eligible to be a Greatest Hits title. It's sold enough copies (close to a million-- in fact). I'm not disappointed with this at all. Uncharted, HS, and R&CF will all be Greatest Hits soon-- I'm positive.

yup! i'm wrong at that for sure. it sold 1.10 million thus far. it certainly is eligible for a Greatest Hits. Sony has to consult the company for this to happen of course.

I'm not sure with their recent debacle how well this will go tho. will Ninja Theory even care? will Sony care? it's been 10 months since HS came out, by "Greatest Hits law" HS should be among these Red Labled titles by now...

But the ps2 greatest hits were red so maybe they were trying to keep it the same. Although i still think blu would have ben cooler, maybe use the Blu-Ray movie cases that are transparent blue.

Great! It seems the cases won't be as ugly as the Japanese "The Best" series. Hey guys Warhawk is an awesome game...every ps3 owner should have it...so don't say the titles are disappointing because that games rocks. I'm sure we'll start to see more games become greatest hits pretty soon.

Yeah, David you're right.....yellow???...mmm, can't figure how JP Sony came up w/ that color concept for their version of greatest hit title. I guess if they were going for grabbing the consumers attention it was DEFINITELY achieved--however it's certainly one helluva distraction on any games cover design that gets slap w/ it (still can't forget how wack it looked on "Ryu ga Gotoku"/Yakuza....yuck).

And I'm sure Warhawk it's bad or anything either, it just too bad it's not my cup of tea (nor is Resistance and MotorStorm), but I'm sure eventually they'll add more.

You replied to a comment of mine where I wished that the DUALSHOCK 3 and Home symbols on box arts wouldn't be there. It wasn't a complaint, it was just a comment. Well, I don't see how wishing that Greatest Hits boxes would be blue is any different. So I have a question for you. Is there anyone out there that cares about YOUR complaints?

Does anyone have any idea what the price would be for the greatest hits games? If I remember correctly, all of the PS2's greatest hits games were one unified low price, but I can't imagine that Warhawk would be the same price as the other two because it's online only. Now, if they made the other two title the same price as what you would expect to pay for Warhawk (20-25 bucks), I'll gladly grab my keys and go scoop all of these up as soon as they hit stores.
