BioShock confirmed to contain trophies and Home support

As reported last week, Digital Extremes will be assisting 2K Games in porting over BioShock to the PS3. It is now official the game will contain trophy support -- Andrew Rudson, a programmer at 2K games talks about the technical challenges of implementing trophies into the title in a blog entry. Furthermore, a look at the official website of 2K games reveals the Home logo on the cover of the game. The bigger question is, could this mean Home will be ready by BioShock's release date?

The PSU boards are going to explode because of this...
frankym @ Jul 13th 2008 6:05PM
This was the only compelling title from that "other console" that I envied.
lobotomies4free @ Jul 13th 2008 11:49PM
Same here
What the heck else can they support in home besides trophies? It's not like it's multiplayer
The_Doctor @ Jul 13th 2008 6:07PM
It will contain AND have trophy support?! That's incredible indeed. (Sorry Alan :( )
linebeginstoblur @ Jul 13th 2008 6:20PM
Is there anyone else out there who doesn't care for the DUALSHOCK 3 or Home markings on covers of games? For one, it clutters up the box art, and also, you would hope that such things would be assumed for all new games.
linebeginstoblur @ Jul 13th 2008 7:34PM
@kevin,MexicanTerrorist
Does it feel good to talk down to someone like that? Does it feel good to reply to a constructive question with offending remarks? I don't know what the hell I did to deserve such rude comments. Your opinions and concerns aren't any more valid than mine are, you know. I'm sorry that you woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, but don't take it out on me.
Anton Chigurh @ Jul 13th 2008 7:37PM
I sort of agree, maybe they should be put on the BACK of the box...
but honestly they don't bother me
Josh @ Jul 13th 2008 7:43PM
I agree with linebeginstoblur. I prefer cleaner box art, but I know that's not going to happen. They want to sell these games, so they're going to advertise whatever features they can where people will see them.
acidwolvers @ Jul 13th 2008 7:50PM
Maybe that isn't the final version of the cover? I would say, maybe do something on the clear part of the spine, or on the back...
It would probably look a bit cluttered in the front since at least the company logo and usually ESRB rating are already on the front of most game covers.
anthonyjh @ Jul 13th 2008 8:12PM
I totally agree lineblur. Mostly in respect that these things should be included in all games, and therefore needing no special box representation.
linebeginstoblur @ Jul 13th 2008 11:23PM
@Kevin
You are a horrible, racist person. Plus, you further show your stupidity by showing that you can't see that the USER BELOW YOU IS MEXICANTERRORIST. I would never resort to name calling for no reason, unlike someone we know. You are extremely rude, and I can't believe you have the fucking nerve to talk to me like that. Just because this is the Internet doesn't mean that you have an excuse to be a complete asshole to others, you know--actually, you may not know. You show no knowledge of any kind of courtesy towards others. I hope you're proud of yourself.
OAKside @ Jul 14th 2008 12:55AM
PWNED
(You had it coming, kevin. You wanker.)
Arnon @ Jul 14th 2008 3:23AM
I agree Line.. these games shouldn't have to have the logo in to bottom. We should just expect it to have all the support. Kinda how the 360 does it's games.
samuraidino @ Jul 13th 2008 6:27PM
hmm interesting.i wonder what kind of home support it will be...are they talking about the 3D representation of trophies,a publi spae for Bioshock,or possibly (and a big possibly) the multiplayer aspect of home,as in everyone going from home in to a multiplayer game of something.
Now,i dont think their will be Multiplayer Bioshock,but...it could be done....
Gambit07 @ Jul 13th 2008 6:57PM
I think your on to something, MP will be added, good call.
Dwag @ Jul 13th 2008 6:33PM
2K seems to have hoped on the Home and Trophy wagon. If Borderlands does so too when then Home actually means something to me then but now just looks like another big distraction.
LOL when is Home actually getting released? I can't trust what Sony says cause they delayed it too many times and might not even be all that good.
Seba501 @ Jul 13th 2008 6:43PM
Sounds like 2K Games is really focus in this game, one more reason to buy it
frankym @ Jul 13th 2008 6:48PM
Thing is that 2k games realized this game should have come out on the PS3 first since it has a more sophisticated user base. Bioshock was way under-appreciated on the 360.
godlovesugly @ Jul 13th 2008 6:55PM
Where does it say on either of those sources that it will support HOME?
If you look both places have just taken SONY DEFENSE FORCE'S mock up image which was made before it was officially announced
http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/?p=434
there
Arnon @ Jul 14th 2008 3:24AM
Agreed.. more proof or this = FAIL.
Dwag @ Jul 13th 2008 7:31PM
frankym
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost thought you were serious.
McBonk @ Jul 13th 2008 7:44PM
Bioshock sold 2.2 million units... but not sure what the 360/PC breakdown is. Seems hard to argue that it was underappreciated, though.
Rodrigo @ Jul 13th 2008 7:43PM
the ps3 box art of this game looks way better than the 360's.
Arnon @ Jul 14th 2008 3:34AM
I believe it's the same box art rofl
acidwolvers @ Jul 13th 2008 7:44PM
About the blog where they discuss adding trophy support, it sounds just like what some 360 games have gone through. But at least it sounds like they are paying attention to detail.
ryan @ Jul 13th 2008 7:46PM
anyone know if Bioshock 2 will come out the same time for both 360 and PS3?
Dwag @ Jul 13th 2008 7:55PM
I'm assuming the 360/PC first then the PS3 somewhere down the line and for obvious reason UE3.
I hope Bioshock 2 has online support this time around cause thats what made me not buy the first.
Phantom @ Jul 13th 2008 8:35PM
Actually this has been out on the 360 and PC for a while , it's just that it's being made on PS3 now . yea.....
Phantom @ Jul 13th 2008 8:35PM
OHHH Bioshock 2 , sorry .
Dwag @ Jul 13th 2008 7:46PM
Yeah it's looks way better even though they are the same thing but yeah the PS3's box art looks way better especially with that Home sign in front and that cool PS3 sign on the side.
That was pretty much Fail but I tried.
James @ Jul 13th 2008 7:55PM
I thought this was months old, the cover was already found on http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/Action/FirstPersonShooter/~r335199/Bioshock/?s=bioshock like a couple of months ago
Kevin @ Jul 13th 2008 8:17PM
Uh huh uh huh I like it!
Uh huh uh huh I like it!
King JMY @ Jul 13th 2008 8:43PM
Enjoy the shitty hardware, you cunt.
Phantom @ Jul 13th 2008 8:38PM
Soo , fanboy much . Enjoy your seconds on MGS4 and FF13 .
OHH wait , it's only on PS3 , .
Good thing too , that way everybody will be able to enjoy for 5 hours straight without breaking their systems . Oh and enjoy you're 15 disc's multi-plat games in 3 years .
Kspraydad @ Jul 13th 2008 8:47PM
You sound upset.
ps3sucs360sballs @ Jul 19th 2008 1:34PM
i think that the ps3 isnt good enough to have bioshock, only the 360 deserves it
PS3superorto360 @ Sep 16th 2008 7:45PM
hahaha good joke
HanzoTheRazor @ Jul 13th 2008 10:18PM
There is a lot of love being put into this port. I am certain that 2K will do a similar job as Bethesda did with Oblivion. No rushing, tapping the PS3's strong points and power to give us a very different looking game, as Oblivion was. Both these studios have said that the PS3 is no where near its full capabilities and games will continue to look better and better on the PS3. Can't wait, should be a very worthy purchase. Oh, and BS2 will be released on the PS3 simultaneously. Yay!
adolson @ Jul 13th 2008 10:50PM
Never heard of Digital Games, but I figure that is an alias for Digital Extremes.
Mein Bratwurst @ Jul 13th 2008 11:08PM
What kind of loser makes a new user name just to comment on this article?
Are you afraid of posting on your normal account for some reason? You're a nobody on that "other" site and you're a nobody here. Get lost.
SSG @ Jul 13th 2008 11:33PM
38th... yes
Aircraftkiller @ Jul 14th 2008 1:55AM
This isn't System Shock but it's the closest to it that my PS3 will ever see.
Russ @ Jul 14th 2008 3:10AM
Home out in time for Bioshock release?
Oh, please. How many times before have we heard Home will be out before some game or another. Boring.
Brodie-san @ Jul 14th 2008 10:28AM
Thing is. It might have Home "support" but that's no guarantee it will launch at the same time as Home. Developers know what they need to do these days to support Home.
Don't be surprised if games get released as Home compatible months before Home actually appears.
-Jad- @ Jul 14th 2008 10:23AM
I might if the game will be cost $59.99 ^__^ but anyway its a awesome news.
James @ Jul 14th 2008 10:00PM
Maybe they could have a small (in comparison to some of the 360 features announced today) little thing with multiplayer and new endings for Bioshock, I'd actually buy it and not rent it like I plan.
Romaine Bartlette @ Jul 16th 2008 9:38AM
what is home and trophies?
Romaine Bartlette @ Jul 16th 2008 9:42AM
WHAT IS HOME AND WHAT IS TROPHIES
