Worldwide PSP releases for the week of July 13
As E3 is a-coming, we expected to have a more barren list of releases for this week. It seems that we were quite wrong about that. New games include anime platforming coming from the big-headed kids of Code Lyoko. NCAA 2009 represents the sports games, while that Go! Explore device thing-a-ma-jig is finally coming out in Europe.NA Games:
EU Games:
Asian Games:
Meanwhile, in Japan, Gundam continues to be milked dry. At the same time, there's more school-based romantic adventures in the form of HimeHibi. Oh, just when will we ever see a Gundam romance game?

Aactually, Go!Explore has come out for months here in Europe, we had it way before the US ;)
Is that Code Lyoco any good? Haven't heard of it yet...
Lars @ Jul 14th 2008 5:47PM
"we had it way before the US"
Um... we STILL don't have it in the US.
Guido @ Jul 15th 2008 5:55AM
@Lars Eek, that's ugly :(

Sorry for those double comments all the time. It happens that my comments don't show up at all, it happens that I can hit "refresh" and they don't show up, yet they do show up when I post another comment, and it happens that they just show up after I click "submit".
I guess that "current / new users" system of yours could use an overhaul :P
Nate @ Jul 14th 2008 1:37PM
If you submit and it looks like it didn't go through, just wait a bit, it'll show up. Their system is pretty wacko, but it almost never actually loses your comments. A lot of the time I think what's happening is that they get flagged for review if you post too quickly or use questionable language (at least that's what the empirical evidence is telling me).

Hm, looks like Switzerland has been privileged in that regard, as other European countries don't have the device available yet. Gee, my bad :) Anyway, "Europe" is wrong either way...

"The week of July 13" means that all the items on that list will come out sometime between July 13 and July 19 (a.k.a. Sometime this week), not necessarily right now. So of course you don't have it yet.

It's been available in Germany for like two months or so.
I REALLY REALLY would like a review of Go!Explore in Germany, because I can't decide whether I should buy it, or not... if it's good quality, I most likely will at some point, but if it has bad coverage/old data/whatever, I'll go with a "normal" navigation system.
Online traffic reports would be cool, too!
Guido @ Jul 14th 2008 4:23AM
@daniel-kun: There aren't any online traffic reports, the data is up to date as far as I can tell - it never sent me into dead ends or anything. It does know one-way traffic signs and no-driving signs, so it won't lead you through areas you aren't allowed to drive through - the only exception to that has been a partial no-driving sign that only applied to most but not all cars, and then it was only the last 200m where we had to look for a parking space anyway. And, there'll be map updates in the PS store I'm told.
The only downside really is that it takes anywhere from 1-5 minutes to find those pesky hiding GPS satellites after first starting up (it rarely loses them anymore afterwards unless you drive under a bridge or something, and then it finds the position again right after you get out). And of course, place input through just the PSP keys is a bit more cumbersome than a regular GPS' touchscreen.
Upsides include: Comfortable favourites collection, mode switchable to bicycle or even "on foot" (where it leads you through places a car wouldn't be allowed too), you can easily let it recalculate parts or the entire route, zoomable and turnable 3D map even with some 3D buildings in larger cities. The voice output is clear and understandable, available just like the UI in tons of languages (including English and German, of course), only at times a bit quiet since the internal PSP speaker isn't all that powerful.
The holder for the windscreen is sturdy and well-made. Unfortunately, the cigarette lighter charge cable doesn't work for me, not sure if it's a broken one or it's somehow incompatible with our car.
All in all, I'd really recommend the Go!Explore kit.
@andwhyisit: Your comment seems unnecessarily arrogant. For the future, I'd like you to believe that I have something when I tell you that I have it. Because I do have it, despite living in Sweden or Switzerland or whatever that tiny country with all cows and cheese is called, where everyobdy lives in alps and has long white beards. Do they have TVs there?
Lars @ Jul 14th 2008 5:50PM
What sounds really cool to me about the GPS is that you can customize your maps, and download them from google. Though I don't know how easy that is to do.
Alien @ Jul 13th 2008 2:09PM
Maybe it was released in the rest of the PAL teritories ? :?
Tom @ Jul 13th 2008 10:25PM
finally...been waiting for these...yeah...oh boy. It's gonna be a while till we see actual games again, huh? Oh well.
Guido @ Jul 14th 2008 9:52AM
Lil followup...
@daniel-kun: Again, I'm not driving in Germany with it, but in Switzerland - it's possible that the Germany map data is different in quality from the Swiss material, but since they're both in the same map pack I doubt that.
@andwhyisit: I try not to call people names online, it's bad karma and all. Anyway, this isn't the first time that commenters on PSP Fanboy tell me that I don't have things that I do have, the last time was the Skype headset where I had it several weeks earlier than most other people too. I am sorry if my natural assumption that you're American is wrong. Let me guess: Texas?
