Guitar Hero: World Tour recruits exclusives Van Halen, the Eagles
Some details have been revealed about Guitar Hero: World Tour. To start things off, there will be 85 tracks shipped with the disc. A R.E.M. track pack from their newest album will contain three songs. Metallica will be debuting their latest album both in stores and on Guitar Hero: World Tour on the same day. Van Halen and the Eagles will both be exclusive to the title. A GH Tunes feature was also announced, which will allow users to upload their musical content for sharing, and act as a means for players to get ahold of new content for the game.

Yawn. Dinosaur exclusives.

Exclusives like VH and Eagles are pretty nice in a game that focuses on guitar rock.
The tracks really don't matter to me... I am just really looking forward to playing with those new pads on the guitar, using a drum kit that has cymbals (and knows the difference between cymbals and pads), and choosing between melody/rhythm guitar. GH:WT is where the innovation is at *this* time around.

You obviously didn't see the two Rock Band 2 drum kits being offered then.

@macserv:
Innovation? Where? They stole all of the Rock Band ideas and put them in their game. The only difference appears to be the sharing feature, which does nothing to enhance the gameplay.

500+ songs available for RB2 or 85 for GHWT. Doesn't seem like a tough choice. VH exclusive upsets me, but oh well.

I wish there was a GH Fanboy or a RB Fanboy website because I find the constant updates of the next songs available kind of annoying.

Let me translate what the GH WT innovation means.
Yes they are innovating the music genre. Instead of companies actually providing high quality games and tracks, it's up to the random dude sitting on his butt and the obsessive compulsive people that have nothing better to do than to keep pumping out the best tracks that they can.
In otherwords rather than provide us with decent enjoyable, and frequent updates, they're just going to give us the same amount of tracks the other game will provide us with (minus DLC which GREATLY outnumbers the GH DLC and has no compatibility unlike what the RB compatibility will be like) and then tells us to fend for themselves while they pump out more games. I hope Blizzard sets them straight and tells them what a good company does and how to actually keep fans rather than alienate them for selfish reasons.
I was boycotting Activision and their Sellout Hero series until I found out about Blizzard, now I'm waiting to see what Blizzard does to fix their business model (which sucks cause I have Guitar Hero 3 and i have a choice of up to 20 songs to purchase with no ability to sample them, higher prices, AND less instruments I can play them on)
In otherwords, if you own Rockband and you buy Guitar Hero WT then hope I'm wrong cause otherwise you're an idiot. I would call you ignorant but I just told you how things works, which means if you buy it knowing full well everything I just told you and still purchase it, you'll probably be more dissapointed than you would have been with Rock Band which is what would qualify as being officially an idiot.
The Rock Band drums (while expensive) are MUCH better than the GH drums. The GH drums are already speculated to be pretty expensive so I wouldnt' doubt it being much more of a push to get the Rock Band drums.
If you live in another country than America where Rock Band is impossible to get I won't blame you. If it's too hard to import it I understand. I don't import either. It's only Americans and those who have easy access to Rock Band that would be the idiots not those unfortunate enough not to be able to get the game.
It's the 1 thing I wish Harmonix would do better. I live in America but feel for those outside of America that have it hard in the gaming world.
seamonkey420 @ Jul 14th 2008 11:03PM
seriously.. with this crazy thing called the 'web', is it that freakin hard to import a game? plus, PS3 games aren't region locked! just make yourself a PS3 american account and get your DLC that way..
plus, doesn't everyone speak english? aren't us americans the lazy linguists? hehe.. :) Rock band 2 FTW!!!! that set list says it all.. everlong.. YES!!!!!!
tan @ Jul 15th 2008 3:38AM
@seamonkey
i think everlong will be better on guitar hero for some reason..
@original comment
rock band 2 does look nice, but still, it's gotta be guitar hero for me.
linebeginstoblur @ Jul 15th 2008 3:35PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but wasn't Metallica also announced to be exclusive? How does that affect the Metallica song already on Rock Band 2? Do you think it would just prevent Harmonix from securing FUTURE Metallica songs?
