Yay!!! The sky is clearing!!!
ocdog45 @ Jul 15th 2008 1:15PM
first ownage
Brodie-san @ Jul 15th 2008 1:24PM
Why do you say that? We've known this is coming for the PS3 (with the extra content) for some time.
This is just an official confirmation of something that's been widely held as fact for sometime.
Sorry for being negative but I'm going to need more than this to see anything but grey skies and dancing rival fanboys
;)
Kspraydad @ Jul 15th 2008 1:27PM
Brodie...the new news is that it isn't limited to Japan as originally thought...it is now confirmed for RofW.
Brodie-san @ Jul 15th 2008 1:29PM
Oh. Cool. Sorry, I actually never knew that that was ever in question.
Ok, so this is good. I'm still not taking my pants off in excitement but at least it's not BAD news.
McBonk @ Jul 15th 2008 1:30PM
It was only "official" for Japan... sure things looked _promising_, but it's nice to finally get the word.
ocdog45 @ Jul 15th 2008 1:15PM
first ownage by sony. keep on bringing it
koehler83 @ Jul 15th 2008 1:16PM
Thats ironic...
Just as the RPG crowd leaves the party...
ryan @ Jul 15th 2008 1:17PM
well as a 360 owner, i sure am jealous....lol.
Kspraydad @ Jul 15th 2008 1:20PM
I truly do not understand the phenomenom of hanging out and commenting in blogs about tech you don't own and actually seem to disdain.
If you like your 360, awesome for you. But why are you hanging out here?
Its like you're the creepy dude at the gym that keeps checking out my impressive package.
ryan @ Jul 15th 2008 1:25PM
but, this is a once 360 exclusive with extra content...and i'm jealous... :(
Brodie-san @ Jul 15th 2008 1:26PM
+1 for package reference.
Unfortunately rivals like to post on each other's boards to stir it up. You'll find rabid PS3fanboys on the 360 site spouting hyperbole and nonsense just like the xbox guys do here.
This is why I don't visit xbox360fanboy.com. I don't see the point in it. I got all my non-PS3 news from Joystiq.
adolson @ Jul 15th 2008 1:26PM
ryan = pwnd
ryan @ Jul 15th 2008 1:30PM
i should feel pwned, you guys are getting the most beautiful RPG to date with some great extra content...i may just sell my 360 just for this content!
McBonk @ Jul 15th 2008 1:33PM
sry, Ryan... I guess we thought you were being sarcastic. I heard this game had some flaws... hopefully the extra content corrects those in some way.
ryan @ Jul 15th 2008 1:37PM
heh, it's all good. i'm just a big fan of this game and i guess i didn't post it correctly to begin with. didn't mean to rustle anyone's feathers here.
Dante @ Jul 15th 2008 1:40PM
lol at the package reference.
_sean_ @ Jul 15th 2008 1:17PM
wo0t!
Between Lost Odyssey, Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Vesperia, Disgaea 3 and this, looks like the second half of my gaming year looks pretty good JRPG-wise! ^_^
Bill @ Jul 15th 2008 1:22PM
Finally some better news for Sony! Woot!
BlackFreefall @ Jul 15th 2008 1:23PM
Could they bring Tales of Vesperia already?
-Jad- @ Jul 15th 2008 1:27PM
patience... my boy... patience.
Maybe u get the game with more content and extra pluses if u wait 6 months BWAHAHAHAHA.
ultima_omega @ Jul 15th 2008 1:29PM
I bet it dosen't have trophies. That would be a shame. I already have this on 360 but there are huge holes in the story and it makes no sense, so i might get it for PS3.
Brodie-san @ Jul 15th 2008 1:32PM
" .. there are huge holes in the story and it makes no sense."
So, it's a normal JRPG then?
:)
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jul 15th 2008 1:30PM
Screw FFXIII we got a port Eternal Sonata! Right, guys?!
..........RIGHT?!??!?!?!
McBonk @ Jul 15th 2008 1:37PM
righty right!
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jul 15th 2008 1:45PM
Sweet.
gamingeek @ Jul 15th 2008 1:37PM
I'm sorry but this is hardly fantastic or unexpected. Untill I hear about multiple new exclusive JRPG IPs coming to PS3 it is hard to get optimistic. Why are people excited about a port of an Xbox RPG released years later from when it first came out?
McBonk @ Jul 15th 2008 1:45PM
We're starving.
PS3Darklighter @ Jul 15th 2008 1:43PM
Good
I always figured it would come out on PS3 outside of Japan. Still I am glad to hear it will out this fall. Since the game is done and translated already I don't expect this to be delayed. We should be playing this by the end of the year.

PirateGamer @ Jul 15th 2008 1:46PM
This is no where near an even trade for FFXIII. Sony better do better than this.
MakaiOokami @ Jul 15th 2008 3:07PM
As long as Square gives us Star Ocean 4 I'll consider it fair. I'm not hurting too bad at the FFXIII being multi, it just means that there's a higher chance of them not cutting corners.
Think of it this way, there are 6 million more people who own a 360 than a PS3 atleast. If they're trying to tap into that reserve of people to make a large dent there is a possibility of more production value coming to the game in order to get people to buy it.
Considering that FF Versus members have been pulled away to work on this game, hopefully it'll mean a better game in the bottom line.
Multiplatform news isn't always bad. I mean it's not like a game like MGS4 that would have suffered entirely from being multiplatform. RPGs are more forgiving in those respects.
Tristan @ Jul 15th 2008 2:15PM
Yes this is totall what I have wanted, Eternal Sonata for the PS3 is going to be nice
Mattchewie @ Jul 15th 2008 2:31PM
You know I wouldn't mind all this multiplat stuff if all consoles got equal treatment, but their not. Especially when it comes to PS3 and Xbox. We usually get the shoddy port and get bumped out of future DLC.
I was looking at FF to help grow install base and help curb that issue.
MS has a bit of an advantage that the heavy hitters are IPs that soley belong(ed) to them. I think sony should do the same. Don't get me wrong, I have liked every FPIPS that has came from sony this generation, but I don't know if I can say they have a "halo" in their lineup.
More integrated feature sets using a single PSN ID (Not sonys fault, but I'm looking at MGO and asking....? 3 ids later and NOW I can finally create my character?!!)
More partner ships with 3rd party companies along with other divisions of sony.
MEETING RELEASE DATES!!
Being swift with putting forth these games, ideas and services into production.
Get aggressive with maintaining 3rd party support and fight fire with fire......pull some ip's from MS
The last one might be difficult but they should at least try to grow some teeth dammit :D.
Vcize @ Jul 15th 2008 2:34PM
This is good news as ES was a good game. I'm not sure if I'll re-buy it, but this addresses a lot of the flaws in the 360 version (namely how the heck did they have an RPG with hardly any customization of characters/weapons/armor?).
More cutscenes are definitely NOT needed (and I generally love cutscenes in RPGs, but Eternal Sonata had way too many long, preachy monolagues) and alternate endings are always a good thing.
Wise Guy @ Jul 15th 2008 2:35PM
Too bad I already beat this game on the 360. A little late fanboys! Ownage... I think not! It's a good title and one I think you guys will enjoy. Congrats.
deaftly @ Jul 15th 2008 3:05PM
Pretty lackluster game that I played last year. meh
Laurens Holst @ Jul 15th 2008 3:20PM
For what region is this news? America? Europe? Both?
Mune @ Jul 15th 2008 3:52PM
Can't wait. I've been looking forward to this game since the Xbox release (which I never had the pleasure of getting to play).
wukong @ Jul 15th 2008 6:38PM
Actually in the process of playing the game again on my 360. Loving it again but will pick it up for my PS3. The new additions are definitely more than welcome for me.
Ujn Hunter @ Jul 16th 2008 11:33AM
Hrmmm... I don't see the "ownage" but for the people who haven't played this yet... congrats... I played this about 9 months ago tho... ;) Not sure the extra content is worth the double dip...
