So they are certain this will be released in the fall?
Ayrkain @ Jul 17th 2008 2:47PM
It'll be an open beta in the Fall, as far as anyone knows right now.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jul 18th 2008 2:50AM
Expect a sh*tload of info from TGS or GC this year from Sony.
Jonathan @ Jul 17th 2008 2:39PM
I'm just thinking about that Uncharted room. Are ALL games going to ahve rooms like that? beecause i'm jsut thinking what is the incentive to make a home room for their game? I can imagine many games just skipping doing that extra work.
McBonk @ Jul 17th 2008 2:50PM
Of course ALL games won't have a room like that.
The_Punisher @ Jul 17th 2008 2:46PM
Neat?
What is this, the 70's?
McBonk @ Jul 17th 2008 2:51PM
That looks great. And to think that _some_ are excited about "avatars." roflma
OrionnoirO @ Jul 17th 2008 6:37PM
Lets not forget 360's will be integrated into the main experience, not spread thinly through a Second Life imitation, down to the R/C Boat that he plays with. At least on Second Life you can build/script whatever you want, not have only the option to buy it from Sony for $xxxx fee. But thats just crazy, who would want a free, dynamic, constantly changing and customizable experience? Let me know how many "wars" you actually plot out on your WarHawk war-room table before you never visit it again.
JayD-1K @ Jul 17th 2008 3:11PM
i hope they make an international area for big events and announcements!
Mattchewie @ Jul 17th 2008 3:25PM
I can't wait for HOME to get out to the public. If its launched right (see not having retract it like 2.40), and people use it I think it will add a pretty good dimension to the PS3 community.
However, if its not "used' by most, i see it getting mundane, as with anything social....people = the product.
I agree with McBonk, HOME is a way more advanced form of those "avatars" and has WAY more room to grow. Once again, sony is thinking of the future.
dave @ Jul 18th 2008 12:28AM
Unfortunately, that's the problem. Sony think way too much of the future, and not enough about now.
Home needs to be released soon. It does not need any more functionality. It just needs to run reliably. They keep on wanting to add more to it, which is why it has been delayed so long. New stuff can be added in the future. For now, they should release what they have.
elijahblake @ Jul 17th 2008 7:08PM
i'm sure xbox will be copying this idea just like they do everything else.
freker @ Jul 17th 2008 3:28PM
No joke; This looks revolutionary.
I love the way that Sony are now currently thinking 'outside the box'.
ThinkIcouldburn @ Jul 17th 2008 4:07PM
I just can't care about home anymore. I've been let down so many times by delay after delay. If they released as a messy work in progress I would have accepted that it was just that and looked forward to it improving with time. But these delays completely broke my enthusiasm and spirit for home. I'm tired of seeing update videos. Please stop posting them. Just tell me when it's released so I can download it then and maybe be surprised and happy to have it.
Devin @ Jul 17th 2008 6:03PM
you're ridiculous....you'd have something even more to gripe about if it WERE out.....the app is looking better and better and I can't wait until it's "ready" for primetime....
jtedesco33 @ Jul 18th 2008 8:45AM
I know it's easy to see this and get excited but I'm in the beta and no one is ever on. If they are they are just in sleep mode dancing aimelessly. It's really creepy to walk around and see 20 people just dancing in place non-stop. There may be a few of you who will be able to have fun with this type of thing. I on the other hand find it lame and would rather just play games.
It's just going to be a bullet point for the back of retail boxes. In the current form of Home there is really nothing compelling to do.
Ty @ Jul 17th 2008 4:20PM
Wow, the more I see and hear about Home the less I want it. Sony please, just do away with it. By the time it actually is released I think even people most excited about it will have stopped caring.
Rowdehaj @ Jul 17th 2008 6:14PM
Your comment history is rife with negativity. You would not like a large-scale unfinished product to be released.
TinyTim121 @ Jul 17th 2008 6:34PM
Next Poll Police has got to be; "Will Home be released this year?" or "Do you care about Home?"
I don't think it'll be released this year and i'm sort of looking forward to home, but not like i used to be
dave @ Jul 18th 2008 12:31AM
I think the Beta will be released this year, but I don't think the final release will be. I predict October for the Beta.
T and A @ Jul 17th 2008 8:07PM
How f**kin stupid!!! They should allow us, with the freakin PSEYE cam, to put or own face on our own freakin character!!! Whats the damn camera for then?!?!?!
MRBlue @ Jul 17th 2008 11:25PM
At one point I was really excited about the potential of Home. After seeing the 360 avatars and the substance it brings to the table versus Sony trying to inject a lot of fancy graphics with no purpose, I feel like Home will ultimately be a failure.
I just don't buy it anymore. I think Home has lost its purpose and part of that was letting Phil go. He was the driving force and visionary behind it and with him gone the project has fallen into the wrong hands.
Home should be about connecting gamers to interact and get into multiplayer games, not become some huge chat room with bubble machines and R/C boats (that don't produce a wake in the water, which is useless to begin with but if you're going to include a boat make sure the water has some sort of realistic physics).
I'm already committed to getting a 360 just as soon as I can get the money. I was never really a fan of the 360 but after E3 I'm almost willing to sell all of my Blu-ray movies, trade in my PS3 and get a 360. Instead I'll hang onto my PS3 for when Sony finally gets it together... in about 3 more years.
Plus, I still want Killzone 2, LBP and God of War III.
MS avatars FTW, Home FTL
