Stephen Fry makes LittleBigPlanet sound even better
Media Molecule's Alex Evans announced at an E3 press briefing that British comedian/actor Stephen Fry has been chosen as the narrator for LittleBigPlanet. Fry is most famous in the United States as a reader for audio books such as the Harry Potter series and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, though he appeared in movies such as V for Vendetta and MirrorMask. We really didn't think anything could make game sound any better, but we think this news just did!

This role was made for him!
Dante @ Jul 17th 2008 3:37PM
agreed.
Stoo @ Jul 17th 2008 3:39PM
heh heh this is cool.
I wonder what exactly the narrative will be, but he is a good fit for the game.
stargateheaven @ Jul 17th 2008 8:40PM
i saw at e3, he narrarates the tutorial levels :D
Alex @ Jul 17th 2008 3:39PM

thinkofmeasmra @ Jul 17th 2008 3:42PM
i was wondering the same thing...why not use a pic of him from V for Vendetta....
Stoo @ Jul 17th 2008 3:58PM
Its from the film "Wilde"
Mort @ Jul 17th 2008 3:39PM
Wow! Take it from me (as a Brit), this is an excellent decision. Stephen Fry is an absolute legend, and one of the funniest and most intelligent guys around. He will fit perfectly with the offbeat humor of this game.
If it's at all possible, I am even more stoked for this game now. Well done MM!!
benny boy @ Jul 17th 2008 4:33PM
I LOVE Stephen Fry.
but not in that way...
freker @ Jul 17th 2008 3:40PM
Perfect as when Rik Mayall was selected for Hogs of War. :D
Heres hope he says the title in his posh, witty, academic voice as the game starts up.
thinkofmeasmra @ Jul 17th 2008 3:40PM
What is with the picture? Why does ps3fanboy insist on using the worst photos of people (see the Howard Stringer pic they always use)
soya @ Jul 17th 2008 3:51PM
Brilliant! I love Stephen Fry!
graphixmaster @ Jul 17th 2008 3:52PM
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is awesome. Its perfect fit with LBP.
digiboi @ Jul 17th 2008 3:52PM
Those are his most famous roles?
Jeez, does no one watch House? Fry and Laurie reunited! Also, if you're a fan of Hugh Laurie, check out Jeeves and Wooster sometime.
JaffaBoy @ Jul 17th 2008 5:25PM
...and the "quiz" show QI
One of the best and funniest quizzes on TV
Darren Tilley @ Jul 17th 2008 3:55PM
Jim Dale is the reader of the Harry Potter audiobooks here in the US.. Perhaps Stephen Fry reads the UK version, but he definitely doesn't read the US ones.
rafael @ Jul 17th 2008 5:49PM
I second that. Jim Dale does Harry Potter in the US and Pushing Daisies the tv show
Rowdehaj @ Jul 17th 2008 5:56PM
And funnily enough, they're both British.
Perhaps ... Perhaps Steven is just a tad *too* British for the Americans to stomach? XD
(You're right, by the way)
Josh @ Jul 17th 2008 4:30PM
Any chance of a little Laurie to go with my Fry?
Soapy911 @ Jul 17th 2008 4:56PM
he's the voice of "the librarian" in mirrormask. i fkn love that movie.
Spam @ Jul 17th 2008 4:57PM
Oh wow, that's awesome. Only the other day I was watching a bunch of QI episodes, so this is a welcome surprise!
Liquid @ Jul 17th 2008 4:57PM
Those guys look HARD GAY
Enough @ Jul 17th 2008 5:19PM
Amazing you're not ashamed to say something like this. In case you haven't noticed this is the 21st century and the dark ages are long gone. Keep your shameful homephobic comments to yourself. This goes for all similar comments. Show some signs of being a human being.
Mort @ Jul 17th 2008 5:45PM
Dude, grow up!
crazypenguin @ Jul 17th 2008 6:04PM

KRIS_C_123 @ Jul 17th 2008 9:31PM

KRIS_C_123 @ Jul 17th 2008 9:34PM
how can i contact ps3fanboy?
linebeginstoblur @ Jul 17th 2008 11:36PM
When I first heard about this, it didn't mean much to me. I had never heard of the guy before. I looked him up on Wikipedia and was surprised to see two things in the same sentence: comedy and Hugh Laurie. I'm a fan of House, and the thought of Laurie doing comedy immediately intrigued me, so I looked up some of their routines on YouTube. It wasn't long until I ordered the complete DVD set of A Bit of Fry and Laurie on Amazon.
Long story short, hadn't heard of Stephen Fry before, but now, I'm really excited about it and I don't think they could have found a better person!
Carlton @ Jul 18th 2008 9:31AM
As Damian points out, you should definitely watch Blackadder. It's one of the best British comedies ever made (at least from series 2 onward).
If you're a fan of Hugh Laurie, I would suggest watching Blackadder the Third, as the Prince Regent is his greatest ever role. I can't watch House without thinking about it.
Pilch @ Jul 18th 2008 5:54AM
Cheack out his books too, they are brilliant!
Damian @ Jul 18th 2008 7:44AM
Linebeginstoblur , listen here mate cancel that order of A bit of Fry & Laurie , that is ok but absolutely no where near in the same league as BLACKADDER , this is what made those guys famous here in UK .
Get the Blackadder goes Forth series , it was the last one (and best ) set in trenches of WW1 , trust me on this it is hilarious and one of the funniest and best loved comedys of all time over here and we have some brilliant comedys.

I rarely report comments but I have to say I've reported this one. I know that there is always going to be a level of immaturity on these boards because, by definition, a lot of gamers are young and hence may suffer from a degree of puerility by their very nature. When you throw "anonymity" into the equation there's always going to be people that post before they think due to the protection of identity the internet affords.
This comment is over the line and "brimming" with hate. It does not belong on a community web-site where gamers from all creeds and orientations contribute about their passion: gaming. I have a lot of gay friends (some game, some don't) and the thought of any one of them seeing this comment repulses me.
So "Steven", I hope you get banned. If you do, you're going to re-register and come back with more vileness but at least you'll know that people responded to your pathetic comment and felt the need to speak up.
In contrast, I actually voted up the comment "Those guys look HARD GAY." cause it's funny. This comment, to me at least, is not homophoic. The term "gay" has metamorphasised into something that is barely even connected to homosexuality these days; especially in the gaming culture. I always laugh when my gay mates say "That is so gay".
As Enough said, you should be ashamed of yourself and if you truly do habour such feelings of hatred to other human beings please keep such comments to yourself.
Thanks.
bonini @ Jul 18th 2008 12:03PM
Read Brodi-said's comments in Stephen Fry's voice.

P.S. steven, you are a prick
Brodie-san @ Jul 18th 2008 4:43PM
Mr. Fry has a wonderful, rich and refined English baritone. I, on the other hand, speak with a beguiling Irish lilt.
