Siren: Blood Curse to terrorize PSN for $40, $15 each episode pack
Looking forward to Siren: Blood Curse? Good, because it's going to have a budget release on PSN later this week. The survival horror game will be downloadable for a discount price of only $40 for the entire game ... or $15 for each episode pack. Each episode pack will contain four episodes, with each episode averaging about an hour or two of gameplay each. That's 4-8 hours of gameplay for $15 each. Buy all three episode packs and save $5.
We love seeing this rather innovative pricing scheme for consoles. Will you try Siren piece by piece, or will you take the plunge and buy it all at once? (New trailer, after the cut.)

I think this is actually the first time that a game is not more expensive in Europe.

"Buy all three episode packs and save $5."
if there is four episodes and they are 15 bucks each 15 x 4=60 and the pack is 40 so wouldnt you be saving 20 bucks?
thinkofmeasmra @ Jul 21st 2008 3:05PM
no no no, you got it confused (which isnt hard to do since they stupidly broke this down) but the game is split into three Episode PACKS, for clarity lets call them Acts...so like most stories/games there are 3 acts.
Each Act of the game is $15. Each Act consists of 4 episodes. 3 Acts or "Episode Packs" x $15 = $45.
Am I the only one who also found this confusing the first time they announced this episode pack business. And I guess its cool to be able to try a 3rd of the game for a 3rd of the price, but iunno...kinda seems a little over the top.
OneMale @ Jul 21st 2008 9:55AM
First! And I'll be buying the Super Value Pack!
ModderFokker @ Jul 21st 2008 9:57AM
YOU FAIL !!!! :D
OneMale @ Jul 21st 2008 9:57AM
Second, and I will hold a grudge against you forever Eggy.
LJ @ Jul 21st 2008 9:58AM
Is there any additional content on this? just pumped up graphics?
Hanson @ Jul 21st 2008 11:09AM
this is not a "remake" of the first siren... new story... new characters... it's simply just using the setting (village) in the first siren...

I've put the ps3 on hold until they give a trophey schedule, i don't want to have to beat all my games twice unless i feel like it on my own. not cause i just beat and then they announce trophies. (this includes MGS4 dammit so hurry)
The demo seemed more just survive then Survival. what i mean is, you just wanted to not die, instead of kick zombie @ss. There was a gun but barely. I'll wait on a review then purchase by piece.
wisconsinista @ Jul 21st 2008 12:25PM
LOL. I started MGS4 on Boss this weekend then quit after I read other games trophies aren't backwards compatible so I too am waiting.
I was generally unimpressed with the demo but then I hate horror flics, and stiff controls so this had a chance of nil from the start. The interface and marketing however were impressive. Someday this may be in the psn bargain bin and I'll consider taking the jump then.
david @ Jul 21st 2008 1:20PM
I am going to buy the whole game.
poprocker @ Jul 21st 2008 10:18AM
I will be buying the entire chunk of awesomeness! Been waiting for this for quite some time.
drdre74 @ Jul 21st 2008 10:29AM
I'll give the first pack a try. Hell a great looking game with 4-8 hours of play time isnt bad for 15 bucks. I hope Sony doesn more of these shorter play time for cheaper prices. I like the idea. I'd rather be out 15 bucks on a game that i really didnt like than be out 40 or 60 with a $12 trade in value.
johnnyknockuup @ Jul 21st 2008 12:45PM
You dont loose much money if you buy a game you dont like. Ever heard of ebay or any other online site to sell, like amazon.com? For a couple week old or couple month old game you get at least $45 back.
emil87 @ Jul 21st 2008 10:31AM
I will not get this now because I already have more games then time to play. If I get this I will probibly buy it all if it has recieved good reviews.

I played the demo... not impressed and found the camera a pain in the butt. I think they have to start allowing gamers to move the camera where they want with the space given. If its in a hall way then okay not much camera movement. But there are plenty of games out there that allow for smooth user friendly camera control.
This game is definitely not next gen quality. I love he Silent Hill genre, but the theme and environment so far in with this game is nothing new either.
BUT if you like it... enjoy.
Take care
Ptrack_Git @ Jul 21st 2008 11:49AM
I think the shadows in this game look better than MGS, of course the graphics are the best ever, but lighting is key for horror if I had forty I'd get them all at once...
The original is way creepy and the graphics and voice acting were awful...
xcrunk @ Jul 21st 2008 10:46AM
What the hell is this game about?
Is it just walking around killing zombies? What's the point of the game. Is their a story?
I tried the demo and wasn't given any story or goal what so ever, it seemed.
The_Punisher @ Jul 21st 2008 10:51AM
I'll wait for some reviews. Averages over an 80 will probably make me buy it all, i jsut need to make sure it's good.
drdre74 @ Jul 21st 2008 11:32AM
why do you have to wait on reviews? If you like the demo then get it. Reviews suck anyway. Half the time something gets a low score and I like the game. So i dont put all my hopes into reviews. If i did I wouldnt buy anything half the time.
The_Punisher @ Jul 21st 2008 11:36AM
It's not like that. I don't see a 6 and then say: DO NOT BUY.
I actually READ the review and see the problems. If they're problems idc about (ppl don't like the camera, too short) i'll buy it anyway. If it's Haze 2, i won't buy it. I shouldn't have said over 80, i meant a generally positive review.
bkalasin @ Jul 21st 2008 3:02PM
Agreed. But it'll have to be closer to an 85 for me. Too many games to get to and not enough time. Best place to get reviews? Metacritic.
The_Punisher @ Jul 21st 2008 3:15PM
I usually read gamespot. They know the most (1up and ign are decent, but not that great).
Tim Parsons @ Jul 21st 2008 11:01AM
I'll be picking them all up at once on Thursday
Jacob @ Jul 22nd 2008 11:01AM
Like The_Punisher said i'll wait for reviews...but is anybody else curious as to how this may affect sony in a bad way? I mean if the download times are good, the quality of the hd game remains ps3 quality over a download instead of a disc and the game runs without a hitch, could this come back to bite sony in the rear?? they're pitching blu-ray whilst microsoft is hoping that eventually disc media will be overtaken by downloadable games and content..so what do you guys think? good move or helping microsoft's cause if only slightly?
Brodie-san @ Jul 21st 2008 11:42AM
Is there a discount if you buy ep 1 on its own and then decide to buy the rest in one go?
Probably not but .. .ah well. I'll wait for reviews before deciding whether or not this is worth a purchase.
The1stMJC @ Jul 21st 2008 1:20PM
I played the demo and felt the game was poor and weak. It looked good, but just didnt feel right. I will pass because the demo game play sucked so bad.
heavenly_King @ Jul 21st 2008 3:26PM
Nice game!!! The only bad thing is that I need a PSN CARD and I dont know where to find them :(
Quest @ Jul 21st 2008 4:46PM
MMmmmmmm, PSN card. I'd like to find some too! I want as few places as possible to be storing my account info!
Quest @ Jul 21st 2008 4:49PM
BTW, I will be buying the whole game. I enjoyed it, and my GF loved watching me play. She loves horror, and helped me out, too!
Lard @ Jul 21st 2008 8:22PM
I will not be buying this pointless remake of a *PS2* game *at all*.
